If you are thinking about buying a Husqvarna Svartpilen 401, this video talks about some of the things the bike is not so good at. It might help you decide if the bike is right for you.
Finding neutral is a bit of a mess due to the quick shifter. The trick is to open the throttle a little bit in order to move from 1st or 2nd to Neutral
I have the 200cc version. the 9.5L tank is just enough to be able to visit camps and do some motocamping and get back to the city. About 260 to 270kms per full tank. I added a 1-inch lift to the rear shock because I consistently carry a passenger and camping gear on every ride because with the standard length of the shock causes the bike to be excessively low, even when set to the highest preload, leading to the bottom of the engine frequently hitting rocks.
Riding daily with my partner, 130 kg total. Attempted a 360 km day trip three times (going for fourh in next 4 days). Dealing the same problem with shock travel and ground clearance. Can you tell me about your 1 inch upgrade please? Fuel gauge blink when 2-2.5 liters left. I ran out of fuel once.
@@bikesonabudgetjapan i track my odo, and i bring a 5L gas can on longer trips. When the low fuel pops up, i know theres still 4L in the tank and that usually goes for 120km more if i stay on the 70-80kph range.
My 2 cents. I picked one up a couple weeks ago. No issue finding neutral at all. Video seemed to suggest this was usually at a standstill? Seems fine to me. Fuel guage was the first issue I noticed as I started my 30mile journey with apparently a 90mile range but got a warning light 5 mins before destination. Yet when I filled the tank I could only fit 6 litres... So yes annoying but not really an issue given it's for journeys of under 60 mins. On the luggage thing as a negative. Seems a bit harsh. It's not designed to be hauling cargo haha but it is a bit annoying that the pillion seat is so small I can barely fit a 20L tailpack on it comfortably.
UR right about your points…I don’t like the stubbiness of the gear shift & rear brake levers on my 2022 Svart 401. Also the bike isn’t stable if u want to lift your hands off the bars for a second.
Thanks for the comment. Mine is stable if I take my hands off the handlebars. Maybe you should check your tyre pressure, steering headset and wheel balance.
Hi👋 Thanks for the information 👍 I hoping you already knew about the lounge of 401 new version. Please add a review. I am seriously considering this model
The new model will be in Japan soon. My local Husqvarna dealer will call me when it's here and I'll go check it out. Personally, I think I prefer the look of the 22 model.
I never bother with Neutral. At the lights I usually want to be in first gear anyway to be able to quickly move, holding the clutch for a minute here and there isn't too bad, else I just turn it off, But I guess it depends where ya live and how bad the traffic is :S
I got a Xitomer rack and side racks, and i fitted a givi plate on it to install a givi box. They work great for me, and it gives me lots of strapping options for camping
I give mine a little rev and shift to neutral at the same time and that helps to get into neutral most of the time. After having a honda that would have missed shifts into neutral and even drop down to neutral from second I prefer a bike that I never miss a shift. So, I agree a con, but I've had worse I guess. A perfect gear box would be ideal though. I was too busy with work and family to do more than commute to work and then was deployed on a ship so I haven't been able to explore on mine yet to get a feel of the fuel range. Hopefully I can check that out soon. I think it's a compromise to keep the bike light and fun. Where is the stream you stopped near the end of the video at 4:40?
Do a search for Rockbros 5L and you will find it on AliExpress and Amazon. The price should be around 50 dollars US. There are a lot of sellers trying to sell it for a lot more.
The fuel gauge reads empty when you hit the reserve. The mileage remaining is for the entire tank. Notice you still have at least 3 liters when bike says low fuel. Just reset the trip each fill up and after a few times you will know your range.

@@bikesonabudgetjapan side bag heck all of them I drive 401 vitpilen not sure how to spell it but I’m currently looking for a side bag and love what you did to your bike !
Thanks, but I haven't done too much. If you want the side bag. You'll need the pannier plates. You can get them from various sellers on AliExpress. I did a video on them. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-_SaZt2NgCNU.html. The bag I bought is a Rockbros 5L. It isn't cheap but I recently found a good deal on AliExpress at nearly half the price. I got two for my other bike for less than what I paid for the Rockbros. They are about the same quality. www.aliexpress.com/item/1005005559734992.html?spm=a2g0o.order_list.order_list_main.9.77171802DKueCu. The tail bag bag is okay and very cheap but the straps had to be replaced. Here's a video. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-aCbi0CrKtHk.html
@@bikesonabudgetjapan here in Australia they arrived not long ago and I can tell you that Husqvarna has stepped up their game and addressed a lot of the issues from the older models. I won’t spoil it too much but let’s say I won’t sell mine any time soon.
