As long as you have the internet it upgrades itself I have the first designer epic which I love but is sewing machine is expensive . And the app for the laptop is around $300 to $399 that you need if you want more to designs . When I got mine the original price $14,000
More than that designer epic one was around 14,000 plus around 300 or $399 just for the app to download your computer so you can get more designs . I know I own the first one . But can't afford the app now . And weighing about 50 lb .
