Hustler Raptor SDX 54 inch Zero-Turn Mower Review 

Good to hear you like it. I like mine but have no experience with other zero turns.

I have a 2015 Raptor SD 60 inch cut with a Kawasaki engine and it absolutely stripes wonderful! Neighbors are always telling me how nice the yard looks. Stock blades too!

Hello from Bayou Blue, Louisiana! I found your channel roughly a month ago and have watched EVERY video you made regarding Hustler Zero Turn mowers. I own a real small yard and will be purchasing the 2019 Hustler Dash 34" cutting deck in the next month or so from a local dealer. I was debating the Hustler over the Cub Cadet ZTR's. You have great expertise and knowledge regarding different brands. Could sit back and drink a few beers with you discussing all of the competitors' options!

I have a 2017 Liberty Z and the battery is still the same side fender bolt job. One thing I do like about the 2017 is the Kawasaki 21.5 horsepower. I have 4 hours on the hour meter and still have over a half a tank of gas. The ride is a little rough but overall nothing I would change. I did lots of shopping and comparing and so far the 2017 Scag Liberty Z is perfect for me. Thanks for your help Supreme great videos.

Awesome review brother! If you like the cut quality of the Liberty I can only imagine how much better a velocity deck would be.

So, with the help of your vids and a couple others, i picked up a new sdx today for a damn good price, not as good as price as you but under 4,000.00 just spent an hour on it on my front yard and so far so good.

i bought the oem stripping kit , havent installed it yet or cut grass yet as it was purchased at the end of the season. Cant wait till next year to see what this thing is about. Gonna go after some contracts also. Oh yea i have the kohler 24 hosre and that baby is thirsty.

I haven't had the experience of a commercial lawnmower. I'd love too. I also would like to see a video of a striping how to. I have seen it in a lawn and it looks awesome but I don't know how to do it.

My biggest problem with my 2014 Raptor SD is the tracking. Every year it has to be adjusted. This year had to replace the handle parts and that little shock on one side. wouldn't go into park without the right hydro motor running and constantly turning to the right.

Your video's totally influenced me to buy my first zero turn hustler Raptor yesterday .So i got the Raptor 36 i know little mower however im sure that it will mow circles around my 42 Craftsman riding mower. The 36 will fit in my Shed and gate's with ease. I had a hard time finding one from a dealer so i put my info on Hustlers web site and the next day a Rep called me and found me a mower that was being delivered to a shop here in Kansas City 2020 Raptor with the end off year offer from Hustler saved $200 so i was told they have a new paint process they now supposedly powder Coat their mowers and they have a new open discharge on the Raptor?? Man I watched so many Reviews I almost went with the Ariens mower. Anyway just wanted to say Thanks man. Also How do i get your live feed ?

I like the serviceable hydros and the 23 horse power Kawasaki engine. Yes the SCAG is a better mower , but you are talking 10 to 12000 dollars. I just bought a Hustler Fas trak 54 with a 22 HP engine on it. 7916.00 out the door. It's got the 3200 hydro transmissions. Yes I would have loved to bought the super z. But I think it great that a company gives people a choice how much they won't to spend. You keep that mower serviced it will last you a lifetime. I got a old craftsman 44 gt6000 that's 35 years old.

What's up man? You going to gie this yr? I got money set aside,but will see on time. Im a Toro guy, thinking bout getting a titan HD next yr. Picked up a large farm this yr. Need to find a bigger mower like a 52/54? My big thing I do lots of smaller yards in town but need more speed. Need closer to ten mph at least. Hope the gie will help decide. More likely to just confuse me and give me to many options. Lol haven't been on RU-vid much this summer. Kinda surprised to see you rock in the hustler again.

I had no issue with the stock blades on my SD but only used them a couple times while waiting for the mulch kit to come in. I will say I don't get much of a stripe at all though but they cut nicely. Also I noticed when I was having issues with my gas tank that the reservoir on the control panel side takes a moment to release the air and fill with fuel. So if you really needed to max out the tank you have to fill it and wait a little bit and then top it off again. Being just a home owner with only a half acre I don't really pay that much attention and just fill it before each mow (can easily mow 2+ times if I realize I forgot to refill my can). You can see a diagram of the fuel system on page 5-66 of the parts manual (referring to the SD manual I have saved).

Sounds like you like the SDX better. All of the little things add up to it's a better mower. And mine stripes big time.

Love the break down and details. I'm still spinning in circles trying to land on a machine. I go back and forth between this one the Scag Liberty and a Gravely ZT HD. The only thing I have narrowed down is I want a 48 and a Kawasaki. Have you had much time with a Gravely to have an opinion? With a 1 acre lot any of them would suffice but I really do want to try my hand at some side work. Hell even if i pick up 1 yard that yard alone would make the payment at 5k and under. Thanks again for the review.

I'm looking to get a zero turn to mow 1.5 acres. My neighbors have the residential John Deere they are trying to sell me on. I am leaning to the Hustler. In your opinion am I leaning in the right direction? Thanks in advance

Are the Hydro's serviceable?

I like the deck (and everything else) on the SDX... The SDX deck seems better than the decks on other Raptors.. Do you think Hustler will take this (SDX) deck design and upgrade it to other Raptors next year (2019)??? At least on the upper end Raptors. (I wonder if Hustler is smart enough to do that??) . I would like to buy a 42" Raptor SD (or bring back a 42" SDX).. With a 21.5 or 23 hp Kaw. I like the more powerful Kaw engines Hustler puts on some Raptors (I wish all Raptors). Finally, I hope Hustler is watching/listening to Supreme.. They can learn something (and sell more mowers)....

Since they have the same hydros, speed difference is probably due to weight difference. SDX weighs over 200lbs more.

Yes,🌼 allabout.wiki/Hustler the bag fills up pretty quickly when there are lots of leaves and I guess that is expected. It is quick to take the leaf catching bag off and put it back on. There is one bar with rubber ends that fits into a slot (bottom), one bar with angled ends that hangs on rubber hooks (top), and two stretchy loops that each hang on a rubber hook (one each side). You can hold the leaf catching bag with one hand full and not drop any leaves. It is NOT easy to empty it into a lawn bag without spilling. My trick: I put two lawn bags side-by-side in a large garbage bin and emptied the leaf catching bag into them. What spills falls into the garbage bin. 90% of the leaves end up in the bags this way with 0% back on the lawn.

So now put price into the equation. You paid $3k for the SDX. Making money faster!

Arm rests should be standard on a zero turn as it's counter intuitive not to have them. Fatigue will set in real quick otherwise. I hate how these companies penny pinch. Makes me sick.
