Hutt Fest 2021 SPC Stream Poly REACTION 

Thank you guys for your guy's reaction to my request. I understand you guys wanted more flare, thought this would be it. I understand these things ain't for everyone. But much love and keep on grinding 💙❤️. But anyways I thought I'd break it down to you and everyone else the whole performance of St Pat's. First segment (*2:47*) - a Tongan male dance called 'mako', the movements usually reflect the words of the song and the song they dance to is a well known song called 'Hala Kuo Papa'. Second segment (*6:19*) - a war dance called 'soamako fakafutuna' ("Futunan soamako") from the island of Futuna. The flag that the boys held was to represent the islands of Wallis and Futuna through this segment. Third segment (*7:31*) - a Tokelauan dance called 'fatele', this particular fatele talks about climbing up the coconut tree and showing the process of collecting the coconuts from the tree which the movements are reflected on. Fourth segment (*9:38*) - the boys perform two Samoan dances - a 'mauluulu', a more suttle dance, and the 'fa'ataupati' which is the traditional samoan slap dance. Fifth segment (*12:16*) - a Tuvaluan dance called 'fatele', they originated the dance which later spread to other islands such as Tokelau. The idea of the fatele is that it always starts slow, then the tempo starts to pick up until finishing on a fast pace. This is a similar situation to the Tokelauan version. Last segment - the boys finish off with one last Tokelauan fatele, the words reflecting on the event coming to a close. Each dance from each culture that they performed are specific to that culture, like the expanding of arms that you saw which is Tongan, or the slapping of their bodies rhythmically which is Samoan etc. The Hutt Fest is an annual non-competitive festival that combines schools and colleges/high schools all over the Hutt Valley and Wainuiomata area to celebrate the Pasifika identities and cultures that thrive in Wellington area. The schools idea of preparing for the festival would be to fuse together a performance with a mix of different cultures like Samoan, Tongan, Niuean, Fijian, Cook Island, Tokelauan, Tuvaluan etc. because it reflects their school's student identities. Each school that enters are given a time limit for their performances (these boys were given 15 minutes) and the colours that they wore are the colours of their school. In terms of some students who are wearing different costumes (like the brother wearing the straw skirt, headdress and bandana necklace) it's worn because of pride for their specific culture, in this case the boy was wearing a traditional Tokelauan costume (except the necklace which is a modern Futunan version of a traditional necklace). It also shows the diversity that there is in each school. Hope this help clarified some things for you, keep up your awesome reviews man.
