Highschool and College are basically the same in NZ. University is University, not college. Haka is used for many occasions. It's not a joke. It can be a challenge or a sign of respect at a funeral, retirement, weddings , graduations etc.
I feel sorry that yous dont understand just what movie is about as for some of us here in New Zealand this movie is REAL. NOT EVERYONE HAS A GOOD LIFE. WELCOME TO THE REAL WORLD🌎 ‼️
I'm South African and a Springbok supporter who also look after the Boks and Stormers when on tour in Australia - We are HARD Core and even the Kiwi's are worried about our class and brutality - On the Field we enforce the game with a win at all cost attitude. The All Blacks and Boks have a mutual respect 2 of the best on earth but on the pitch it's war and a war we often WIN....
New zealand is one of the most well known countries for their domestic violence. You walk down a street and youll here a man beating a women and his kids. Its become such a norm here we even use jake the muss as a saying. More often than not it is maori men who are abusers
Please dont point them out..secretly he or they will get a hiding because they didnt HONOUR OUR ANCESTORS.cuzin yeah..simple...they were taught do it properly or dont do it at all...releasing YOUR DEMÒNS...they honour the GODS FIRST TO GUIDE YOU AND BRING YOU STRENGHT..THATS WHAT THE ACTIONS ARE ABOUT...STRENGHT..we need your heads...so to speak..if you challenge us..we carry for life if taught properly...its apart of the ...7 A×E×A tribes and a lost tribe of the earth....etc etc etc
I'm Australian. And I never knew there were a slew of these videos (Americans reacting to Jake da Muss/ One was warriors). Time to put the kettle on. My days full!!
Crack Up!😅 If you go to New Zealand and see someone or a lil boy/girl doing the Haka, Say "Crack Up" It Means It's Funny AND Your Boy/Girl IS Cute! Lived in New Zealand For 12 Years!
The sad part here is that Grace, being for decades a recipient of Jakes violence, vicariously kills Uncle Bully herself: she knew exactly how Jake would react and manipulated him in order to get revenge for Grace. The cycle of domestic and family violence.
Bro, sis, I'm a Maori from NZ. I've watched a few American Reaction To Haka videos before, and I've really enjoyed them - they've been awesome to watch; they've all been respectful and objective, and they've all put themselves in the right frame of mind so that they may do justice to both their reactions and the mana of the culture they're watching. However, your reaction (both of you) totally disgusts me. How can you say you respect my culture and traditions while you're just treating it as a big laugh! It's as though you decided 'let's get stoned and have a laugh at the funny faces of these schoolboys'. You pause the video every 5 seconds and just laugh and point at them! Making ignorant and uninformed comments about what they're doing, how they're doing it, how they should be doing it, who should or shouldn't be up there doing it.... C'mon bro/sis, how the hell would you know? The nature of your whole reaction video says a lot about you 2 and the type of people you are - in a not very flattering way. Shallow, close-minded, ignorant, disrespectful, for example. Those school boys (12 to 17 year olds) are honouring the retirement of a long-term teacher in a manner only practiced in my country. Who the hell are you to mock our cultural practices? You 2 piss me off big time, and I find every one of your comments offensive and insulting. Just stay away from my culture. Make fun of your own...
Stan’s latest single I AM for Ava Duvernay’s film ORIGINS, hits you on a soul level too.. ..and if you need a pick me up, his cover of Amazing Grace will take you to church!!! lol
The context is in watching the entire movie. As a Māori, half my family refused to watch it because a denial of the violence in culture and also did not want people to assume this what Māori culture is all about. Sadly, Rena Owen (aka Beth Heke) did not receive an award for her stella performance. Left many New Zealand audiences in tears and haunted from the reality of poverty in New Zealand, alcoholism and domestic violence. Resonated with many indigenous and first-nations cultures. worldwide.
Boy's become men at an early age in NZ. Not just Maori but the entire nation. I had two uncles who fought in WW2 at the age of 15 & 16. They went on to fight in Korea after WW2. My father who was 19 was also in WW2 with his younger brother.
