I bought my house 6 years ago. My home inspector took 6 hrs to look over my house. He took photos and written a book on my house that he gave me and page by page we walked around the house showing me everything. Impressive compared to this home inspector that didn't see a vent fan in laundry room.

In my opinion, never use a home inspector recommended by the realtor. He's going to give a positive report so he has a source of fairly consistent income.

Nor a home inspector recommended by the owner or accept a report already created.

OMG, the ONLY reason I would buy in Canada is if this guy checked it out. Not that it's a possibility in an a Kiwi's future, but you Canadians are sooo lucky.

Mike wrote a big book about doing your own home inspection. He has always done what he could to teach people about proper construction and inspection. He has even gone to colleges to lecture people taking the trades.

first mistake i hear so many time on this show is using a home inspector recommended by the real-estate agent. they have incentive to favor the agent not the customer

I talked to a fireman about housefires. Apparently a lot of house fires start because of laundry lint.

@Mike Holmes Do you have a video on how to find an honest properly trained home inspector and how to get the best out of your home inspection? We all can't have a Holmes inspection after all.

These episodes are around 20 years old and this channel is not run by Mike. He will not respond to your question.

Call your local better business bureau & your chamber of commerce. They should be able to give you some information on inspectors.

Do your own research on the inspector and don't take a recommendation from anyone who has something to gain from you taking their advice. Ask them to explain what will be included in their report and ask for an example of a report they have completed.

From watching many of your shows, I'm seeing a pattern emerge. I believe the moral of the story is to do your own research, and NEVER use an inspector recommended by the realtor!!

The realtor has been using him for years because he doesn't cost them any sales! Never ever use a realtors inspector!

As soon as I heard that you used an home inspector the realtor recommended I knew that it was a quick inspection that overlooked all the real problem's. All to make a quick sale for the realtor. There may have even been a financial pay off for a easy pass inspection. Always find your own inspector that dose not know or talk to the realtor.

Did the bad man touch you? Lol. Damn! What did Holmes do to you personally that you hate him so much? You do hear all these owners say they couldn't have afforded the repairs right? If not for him, his show, volunteers, donations etc. these projects wouldn't have been possible. So how is he a high pressure salesman and conman?

Avoid an inspector recommended by the relator. They are either related, friends, married, dating, or are crooks.

Stop with the reruns already, these are all recent reruns I'm sure y'all have more old content please start from episode 1 or whatever number to whatever episode y'all ended your contract with then repeat from beginning to end appreciated. I still watch y'alls videos but would like to see older or recent but not stay on constant rerun Thanks.

As long as a garage is open while the car is running gas wont come into a home and people turn cars off before they close garage doors to allow gas to escape outside
@vernss3092
@vernss3092 2 месяца назад
This is not entirely true. Factors such as the configuration of the building and prevailing winds can create a situation for exhaust to enter a home if there are any holes.
@urzaserra256

These homes are in canada so with the weather they have there its common to have your car in the garage running to heat it up before you leave, or having it running while you load/unload. And the regulations are assuming worst case, that you have your car in the garage and leaving it running.

Question for my cold neighbors up north. Does Canada not need to insulate their duct work? I see lots of Cody pipe ran, but no insulation wrap on it. Or is it because it looks like the duct work is ran inside the walls therefore it doesn't need to be wrapped?
