The intention is to solve, it is more expensive to repair water leakage damage than to do on-site fabrication, excellent job.

Went to pick up a unit yesterday and asked supplier if they have any pans without holes -NOPE. Thanks for the training. Went home and made one. I don't have a break but I do have a large flat metal table. I clamped metal down and bent it with a rubber mallet. It came out great. Thanks again for taking the time to teach this. You never know who will benefit from it.

Carpenter and Joiner to trade , but it never ceased to amaze me how quick my buddy was at bending sheet metal.. one thing I noticed was that your pan folds on the corners are in the inside of the pan, his were always on the outside.. We made a bunch of custom bread pans for our hunting buddy's bakery, for scotch loaves. I sure learned wood was easier on the hands..

Everyone who's good at their job makes it look easy! Well done, Craig! I like the advice that you don't need a PVC drain in the secondary pan since it's never supposed to have water in it. For my own system I actually prefer a moisture sensor sitting in the low spot on the emergency pan to a level switch on the edge, with the Safe-T-Switch in the secondary port on the main tray.

My price is currently $17.50 for 26 gauge. You could use 26 gauge or even better, 24 gauge. Make sure to cross break the whole pan then from diagonal corner to corner so rain runs off then. I have replaced quite a few out there because they didn't have a cross break, water sat and rotted them, thanks!

Great explanation. You are doing a great work with these videos. Can you do one explaining why undersized ductwork , low blower speed motor, collapsed ductwork, dirty air filter and a restriction will cause a freeze on the coil.
@petemiller519
@petemiller519 3 года назад
Because the restriction due to the various items you noted slow down the flow of air across the coil, which in turn transfers less heat into the coil from the warm air, causing the temperature to drop too low, causing freezing of condensate.

Thanks for this video. Lots of info. I found the more shallow the pan I want to make, the more difficult it is to bend the corners. Any tricks? Subbed
@acservicetechchannel
@acservicetechchannel 5 лет назад
I always make the pan with 1.5" or 2" high lips. Another thing you can do with this technique is if you flip the pan over and cross break it, it can be a chimney termination as well, thanks!

This is awesome! Thanks! Would a box pan brake be used the same way?

I just made one in 22 gauge galvanized I think that’s way too thick it was very hard to bend... what gauge do you guys usually use?
@acservicetechchannel
@acservicetechchannel 3 года назад
26 gauge for pans. You could use 24 but that is a little thick as well.
@bigmilk2003
@bigmilk2003 5 лет назад
i tried doing this for the fist time by hand the other day. just figuring it out, using only hand tools, i did it not as neat and the lips aint as high as they need to be. thanks
@acservicetechchannel
@acservicetechchannel 5 лет назад
Yeah you need to bend the 2 or 2.5" lips with a brake or plywood edge and it takes some getting used to but after works really good, thanks!

My secondary drain pan is rotted and needs to be replaced. The unit is mounted above my drop ceiling tiles. It’s suspended under my air handler and both are hanging from steel support rods and beams. How do I remove the pan and replace it with another? Can I just put a bed pan inside the rotted one?
