It's a great cover, but I'm pretty sure that pup took one look and said, "Hold my doggy dish" 😎

I built this same fence to stand on concrete. So to minimize water damage, I used 1 inch (in height) plastic base plates on each location where the wood makes contact with the ground. (Home depot call them: Composite Plastic Standoff Column Base.) they're like footings.

Its a nice idea but being a HVAC technician it may be to close to the unit and you may end up having issues with it heating or cooling properly.

@@SpecificLove7 no problem. Your condenser unit should have a guide book with it. If not the standard is about 18 inches between the unit and any fencing or house.

Specific L C, I like William's point. A website points out that if you don't allow enough air flow: "You'll pay extra for it in more than one way: (i) Your monthly electric bill will be higher; (ii) your equipment may not last as long, so you'll pay more in repair bills and in having to replace the AC sooner." For random readers: nothing should be over the unit, either, like a roof or plants, and the unit should be serviced annually. I get that some people don't want them visible, though, and so great you keep your dog away from it!

Yes it looks nice and since I read that you moved it back off the condenser it should be found. But anytime you start to block airflow and heat transfer you are costing yourself more money seasonally. If I had this same structure around my a/c it would need to be 10 inches away or more. Since it has at least 10 inches the slots would allow some of that needed air to get through to the unit. You could actually close it completely as long as you were 12 inches away from outside of the unit. Great idea making it look like the fence around your house.

The blind is well-done, of course, but that doesn't teach he dog not to gnaw. He could go after other things, like furniture, etc. I'm sure he will have a wonderful life in your family! : )

Are you concerned the fencing will be so close that it might cause over heating?

I was not at the time, but after some thinking, I moved it back another 6 inches for peace of mind.

A heat pump is only used in geothermal heating systems, right?

This is an AC heat pump. Geothermal systems only have 1 visible part and its inside the house.
