Indeed a collaboration with craig would be a great idea. Although the RM 30 mile challenge also suggested sounds like a brilliant idea. Perhaps you could combine the two.
Hi Fergus - thanks for coming to the Regiment and I’m glad that the workout went well. Great to be able to host you and thanks for an inspiring talk about your own experiences with mental health. Hope you’re well. Simon
Wicked video mate, great to see you attempt this. Would you be up for a Collab one day? We can do the 5 mile run together carrying 20kg or something like the P Coy 10 or 2 mile tab carrying 36lb?
dude.. when you walked in with your uniform (OCPs here in the US, dunno what they're called over there?) and you were wearing your Vivos, I cracked up 😂 Great vid, mate. Being in the military, I found this video concept quite fascinating. Great work, chap. Hope you're doing well, have a great new year, Ferg!
Me and inflexible boots do not get along - and a few of the staff on site tried to pass those ones through their DS (sadly denied) but they’re popular with some of the lads 👀 thanks for watching!
To do this properly is pretty much logistically impossible - as 4 weeks on the hills isn’t that easy to make work around normal life 😂 but I’ll see what I can do!
@@ferguscrawley95 lol, yeh, maybe don’t go wild camping for 4-weeks in the hills 😂 Maybe just tackle some of the key/significant tests? The Fan Dance is a good one for the SF. Would mean a trip down to the Welsh hills which is never time wasted 💪🏻
Hey everyone! Thanks for watching and Happy New Year! Don’t forget to like the video (do it right now, cheers), subscribe if you haven’t already, and please comment below what videos you want to see next 👀
The loose pack straps had me laughing. It's like the white hot rage you get carrying something awkward to the car. 😅 fantastic video though. Glad you showed the test and the talk
Respect Fergus, these are not easy challenges and the recruits have to build up to them. 2km effort particularly solid even with daysack and webbing flapping around like crazy (The directing staff should have helped you adjust them properly) running with webbing/rifle etc. is harder than it looks as i'm sure you found out.
All borrowed from one person so had to work with what I had sizing wise sadly - but got through it even with the sun optimal kit standards 😂 the daysack was driving me mad though not gonna lie haha!
@@ferguscrawley95 Shame, I think you would have gotten sub 10 mins with properly fitted/adjusted stuff, the bounce sucks energy from every step. There is a surprising amount of technique in correctly loading/distributing weight/pouches. Trained infantry will have them rock solid on the hips, strapping/tape/vaseline for chafe areas.
Fergus. Thank You. As always a brilliant video. And inspiring. Your work with the army so important.Has indeed is our fantastic Armed Forces! All too often recruits take their own lives. Your honesty and experience is invaluable. Thank you. The video was great to watch. [Assume filmed in November?] You are an incredible person! Young or old we all will benefit from your insight and inspiration and down right commonsense. Here is wishing You & Erin every happiness and HEALTH and some calmness in 2022! Take care Big Man!
@@ferguscrawley95 Indeed it does. Watching him and mike running around with those bags of peebles was funny. Although equally as funny was seeing you walking in full kit with those boots on 🤣🤣🤣 Excellent video regardless. Looked like they gave you some of their own (slightly nicer) kit. A good intro showing people the RTF. The mental health talk at the end looked great. Nice to see you doing something for the forces and making some cracking content out of it.
Love your videos watch at home with my young boys and something so small they love seeing you take your inhaler as they both have asthma so love them seeing you do such amazing things with endurance and have asthma 👌🏻💪🏻
This is the test for soldiers who are not in ground close combat (GCC). Non GCC troops could be signallers, medics, movers, chefs, clerks or military police. Troops who in GCC have a second march with a 40kg load over 4km to Ber completed in less than 50minutes.
Great vid! A few have already mentioned commando tests or some of the more infamous Brecon marches, and I would second those suggestions - I gather you also have a few former SB contacts, perhaps they could give you some of their nastier swimming tests to try?
Too many individual tasks that will take to long especially for a whole battalion, just need to do a 4km patrol with a few tasks along the way with a cazzy vac at the end.
Watched all your videos and always wondered what your stats would be for phyz tests. Deffo a good challenge I'm shooting for in 2022, try the - **Commando 7 miler** (36 pounds, 7 mile, boots, trousers, sub 60 mins) Traditionally done in achnacarry Scotland, your home country.
Are you ex or currently serving? Never seen reference to a military career, but assumed that was intentional. No slight on you if not, I always just assumed you were 😂
@@ferguscrawley95 ahh man, that’s gutting as I’m sure you’d have been an absolute machine! Glad you’ve been able to use your ample other skills and inspire in other ways! 👍👍🙌🏼🙌🏼
Athletes are just too use to exercising when they feel ready to, ie, when they've had plenty to drink etc etc... the army expects everyone to be able to burst in energy at any given time regardless of circumstance/situation.."oh you ran 10 miles yesterday so your feet now hurt?"....."I don't give a shit you little cry baby now you will do it soaking wet wearing full kit!"..good effort tho! there is a video of some guy attempting the SAS: Who Dares Wins selection and his technique was so shit on a number of tasks he would have failed,.
Great video as always Fergus, it would be good to consider other military fitness tests during 2022. I hope your post test presentation provided a good source of insight for those serving in the British Army.
