+1 I have tone tested l3se,can confirm this test. They do not sound good.stiff suspension on midrange is not good sign.I am not sure why people love them🤔
Same here. Have fatalpro 4fe32 installed. Pretty good ones. Considering scanspeak now. But does not look much better so far. FatalPros are really good.
I bought the 8ohm Faitalpro when the 4ohm was sold out. It runs out my amp running the 8ohm and I'm considering switching to the 4ohm neo version to get more power out of my amp for EQ.
That fatal pro wins in the measurements hands down the peak at 2500 and the stored energy at about same frequency. Would cause some listening fatigue . Thank you for the video.
The Hybrid Audio is still very inefficient at around 85 dB/watt, and I don't even see a frequency response measurement on their product page, yet they want $500/pr for them. Ridiculous. The neo version of Faital Pros are quite good though for what they are.
I ran the fiatil pro 3inch drivers in the dash of a 2007 nissan titan with soundstream tweeters. Super impressive!!! Head unit pioneer 4000 nex, used the built in crossover/dsp settings powered by a fujitsu ten eclipse amplifier. Very impressive sound quality!!!
I own a set of the L4se’s. I got mine for half price luckily. If I had to buy them again I would have gone with a different set of drivers. They aren’t bad but like you said, not worth the cost
I decide to go with stereo integrity tweeter and mid when they were on sale.

I have the L3SE and I had the buzzing sound in mine. Eventually I figured out that it was the surround that was a bit unglued. After re-glueing it, it stopped.
I had this installed in my car. Same thing happened to the driver that got the most amount of sun. This is a glue issue and does not happen when the drivers are new or exposed to sun to damage them. I can tell these have gotten sun by the discoloration of the driver. However its an issue with this driver and something that should have been taking care of by the company. Hybrid audio is no longer interested in fixing any of these issues and they are just selling whatever they have left in stock from their past orders. I dont see the HAT lasting much longer as their new owner understands these last order had mayor QC issues. Only good thing they have left is their 2” wideband and their legatia midbass drivers. Their unity midbass surround also has issues when sun heat gets to them
Having had the L3SE for a very long time and as well the FaitalPro 3FE22 too, for a long ownership period. I can say that HAT are first of all a true gem for the eye. They are extreemly well built, the rosewood gold phase plug and the magnet sheild are something nice to look at for sure. The inverted surround is a clear install clearance advantage too and push terminals are a nice to have. Soundwise? The FP 3FE22 are just as good. Perhaps there is something a bit more clear on the midrange area and the aiming is better towards the L3SE but I can only agree with you that soundwise, there is no real benefit on putting the efforts to purchase the L3SE. A very very high recommendation for a truely interesting speaker that I find better than both would be Eletromedia home series - LaVocce 3 inch wideband driver - apx same price as the FP but even more impressive. HAT for as much as I am aware were sold by Scott Bewalda recently due to health issues.
@@maxmeyer1043 It's a friends driver - we were totally blown away by it - chrome-extension://efaidnbmnnnibpcajpcglclefindmkaj/hificompass.com/sites/default/files/documents/lavoce_fan030.71.pdf FAN030.71-4 the 4 ohm version.
Unfortunately the L3SE you tested is either an a factory second that was sold cheaper or over time it has not fared well (for example the cone is very faded, it should be black, so i wonder if its had a hard life).
You're scale and proportion of things is way off base. When you start off with good sounding speakers, sometimes you have to pay 20 times more just to get a small Improvement. You will never ever get 20 times better sound by paying 20 times as much. That's not at all realistic. Think of it like this, a Ferrari may cost five times as much as a Mustang, but it's not ever going to be five times as fast. It will be faster, but not by very much. Same for audio. 👍
Hi-Fidelity is in the (honest) numbers. Learn which Thiele numbers are important by rank, as there are so many that it gets hard to remember them all. I generally look at about 8-10 of the numbers when purchasing speakers. But by understanding the numbers, you can match speakers and amps, and be confident on the speaker's performance without hearing them. Again, if honest numbers are being provided. And yes, speakers with Thiele numbers that are relatively the same will perform the same. I just think the cheaper speakers would not be able to handle as much power, but I could be wrong.
That noise is from air chuffing around the phase plug btw. Experienced the same thing with Dayton rs100-4s it's very annoying and made me dislike phase plug drivers and most concentric designs. Also gets much worse if you have them in sealed
Well I am just on time 21:29 and you talking about buzzing and clipping. And there is. If you go to the preferencies and check levels, you will see, that if you go more then -12dB there is peak clipping. I was surprised by that as well, but there is that. So you really shouldnt move your signal level above -12dB and if you need more sound out of your speakers, then turn volume on amp more.
No, I said the sound is "clip like". The amplifier and the signal generator is not clipping. The faital pro has no problem playing at -1dBFS. Some tones don't clip on the generator, pink noise has to be -3dBFS, multitone has to be -10dBFS. I tested literally everything.
Both of them are the same. Dirt would affect the response in the lower frequencies as well, but it seems that something is resonating at a specific frequencies.
Hey cat i actually think i have some matching mids to the hybrid audios, one should test the parameters and compare them, also paper cones and phase plugs, you can also get them for 30 euros a pair, and they look better than the faitals! Some aiyima aliexpress drivers
@@RAW-CAt if you would be in the EU, i would gladly send them, i have two pairs and i am willing to play with them, a lot of other models are in the same chassis so i would find my replacement easy, there was a video on yt, that did some basic t/s tests but nothing more than qts, qms, and qes, which seems to match up to the hybrid audio
It would cost me ~€90😅 In all seriousness, I am fond of Visaton drivers, as I would like to try a few, however, unless someone can borrow anything, I am no planing to pay from my own pocket just for the tests. These hybrid audio drivers are not mine.
A lot of times you may have to work your way up to the more expensive drivers. You may start off with $100 speakers and not really like them. So then you might get the $250 speakers and it'll be better, but you might hear someone else's higher end speakers and want those and the next thing you know your buying $500 speakers. Lol.
I have the neodymium version of the Faital (3FE22) in my A pillars and they sound way better than their price would suggest (once I had done some EQing). They play high enough frequency for my ears (I've played in bands for over 20 years, so I definitely cant hear to 20Khz). I'm currently run them 300hz up, but I think I could run them a little lower. They are also very very efficient, so I have loads of amp power to spare.
Harshness comes from distortion and extra energy. With correct EQ any driver can sound smooth granted it does not have excessive distortion. And the faitals don't have it.
@@RAW-CAt Appreciate your inputs on clearing my doubts. Looks like people really love these comparos. I hope someone lend you Peerless TC9/TG9 for testing. Heard good things abt Legatia drivers, seems like a bad unit.
