When they start laying in mass when the weather cools down I'll make a video showing my daily routine with them. Right now there isn't much to show because they still aren't laying. They quit after the summer solstice. Normally they start again after the fall equinox but this year its stayed hot and my brood cock Number 1 is still in molt. This is basically his 18 month molt. He'll be 2 this Christmas.
Mr bull frog I’m from chiefland Florida, I also enjoy chickens I have 12 game hens I’m wanting to increase my flock I have a nice Americana rooster with them I figured that would be a interesting combination but I can’t tell that the eggs are fertilized do you have any advice? Also do you use incubators?
Sometimes you can tell if eggs are fertilized by cracking one upon and looking for a little white spot in the yoke with a small white bullseye. I find it more accurate to simply stick a sample egg in a incubator. By day 3 you ought to see development. I do use incubators. Nurtureright 360 from Tractor Supply. I also use hens. My mother’s family are the Sheffields from Chiefland.
I am. They are hybrids. They started as some of the purest Red Jungle Fowl in the world but the modern specimens are hybrids based on their appearance.

It took me a year and a half of searching to find my flock, which came from a permaculture farm in central Florida. I'm not sure they knew what they were, they were selling them as "jungle fowl." I sold well over 1200 eggs last year but this year I'm not letting many out until I get my flock the size I want it. I'm letting the hens set on nearly all of them. I ought to be offering them again later. Until then, take note of their traits in my videos and check around for chickens that match the description and behavior regardless as to their label. American games of the jungle fowl look and feral game mixes of the sort found all over Florida will fit the bill. What cities are you close to? Most areas in Florida have feral flocks but are unknown except by locals. You could possible catch some ferals and tame them up in a coop.
You can’t. Too different genetically. But you can cross most galliforms together. Galliforms are chickens, pheasants, quail, turkey, rails, grouse, and a few others.
Yes but its hard. You’d have to randomly get an abnormally big individual, breed it to the biggest member of the same breed you can find, then select the biggest offspring and repeat the process. Its faster to find the closest related breed you can that’s larger and cross them then cross them back to your original breed. That’s why I selected the Blueface strain of American gamefowl to cross with my Crackers. They’re almost the same chickens already just the BF are much larger.

I looked on eBay and found red jungle fowl eggs but can’t identify that it is you selling them. I am leery of buying from just anyone. Also do you ever ship chicks?
My listing is only up when eggs are available. Currently I don’t have any listed. They aren’t laying yet for the fall. I don’t ship chicks. I sometimes ship adults. They can handle shipping well. I sell under Florida Bullfrog and you’ll recognize the birds. None look like mine.
