Procrastination over - here's the final-form explanation of what was in the Jamuary Modular (more or less...it evolved over the month.)
Now to get all the rest of the studio back into shape. :)

Someone needs to make modules for the big and tall community, similar to clothing. Thanks for sharing. Have lots of fun!

Thanks for sharing. Modular for me, only in the box. I'm messing around (just for fun) with Cardinal Virtual modular synthesizer plugin.

Cardinal is very nice…I have local pals who really push it. :)

Great video insight into your modular setup. I see the multiple Braids modules and the dual Metropolix units. It looks smaller than I imagined but it seems a very efficient setup. I guess it's the result of much refinement. Many thanks for the insight. Your thinking behind the setup was very interesting.

I have a need for a certain level of precision in the modules and when I find it I tend to repeat it. So there are duplicates across the voices.

Very cool Luke!! I enjoy your lessons, even though I probably would never own one of these ( Just dont have the room) it'sa nice to know how it works!

You might want to consider replacing wifi with cabled network for extra stability and reduced latency. Stuff is close, it should not be a nuisance. My 0.02
@synthseeker
@synthseeker 7 месяцев назад
Thanks for the suggestion! I do use a cabled network for audio runs. For simple link protocol Wi-Fi is fine and stability is inherently handled in link. Everything is pretty autonomous and just synchronizes/resynchronizes transparently if there are network jitters or drops, although I do have a dedicated network in the house that is not connected to the Internet, nor shared with anything other than musical instruments. If I run into trouble or change it in the future, I’ll be sure to let everyone know. Thanks for sharing!

What kind of power supply do you use on your case?
@synthseeker
@synthseeker 7 месяцев назад
Two TipTop Zeus power busses from about 10 years ago. They still make the Zeus bus line, but I think it's changed a lot (probably for the better.) The Blue LED light from inside the case are the power rail indicators from the Zeus busses. :)

Thanks for that survey. You promised to do that and i was waiting and looking forward for it 🙂 I like the clear and distinct structure and orientation towards a special purpose, you just create your own kind of instrument from it and thats according to what you told us about it during the live streams. For me as a beginner this concentration is quite helpful because it blends out much of the other more sound-synthesis related stuff which otherwise is a bit confusing for me in its whole complexity. (Which seems to be a general attribute, also of your other tutorial-vids too and its good for better understanding) 👍
@synthseeker

Thanks @mycase04 , I suspect other than the Sunday streams the modular will play a lesser role for a bit.

@@synthseekerRight, the Vector is basically a hardware numerology with all the sub sequencers and probability options. Really well suited for Berlin school. Really dig your content btw.

I love the spacing and close to symmetry layout of your rack, not to mention the very neat cables-behind-the-modules trick. Everything looks and sounds clean. I noticed a few mostly utility items that I forgot to include so the shopping list must grow. Thanks Luke!

Initially, I was like--wait a minute: why do those Braids not look like what I find in Cardinal and miRack? And then I remembered Luke had an earlier video about how he purchased these modules partly because they were of less hp than the classic incarnation of Braids.

Those a Micro-braids SE (uBraids SE) from Talldog Electronics. I cannot say enough good things about them. :)

Out of curiosity, if you have such big hands and have been spacing modules out why would you not get the full sized modules/clones?
@synthseeker
@synthseeker 7 месяцев назад
@speed0 - storage space. My wife would kill me if I went to a 5U system. :)

Exactly@@synthseeker Don't take this in the wrong way, but it convinced me not to go modular. May i ask you what is the thing you love about it, considering the cost, the setup time and the fact some sounds are replicable through other options? I am genuinely interested, not trying to argue.
@synthseeker
@synthseeker 6 месяцев назад
I love ALL synthesis approaches…modular is just my most recent direction. It’s fun but hardly my favorite approach. At the end of the day I gravitate towards hardware keyboard-synths…but modular is as different feel. I love the flexibility, I love the exploratory behavior. No synthesis method is unique and you can always build any sound in other ways.
