Created for a compo in Button Masher's Discord server. Our prompt was to create a new arrangement of Hydrocity Zone using any chip, tool, or synth of our choosing, so... naturally I chose Virtual Boy! Created in Furnace using hardware accurate Virtual Boy instructions.
Virtual Boy is a pretty fun chip! Sort of like a very beefed up Game Boy with more channels, so I got to play with stereo and 2-channel delay tricks I hadn't really used before. Hope you enjoy!

Really dig this! Didn't realize the sound for the Virtual Boy was so distinct until I listend to this cover and then compared it with the Game Boy and NES sound sets. Awesome!

Thanks, I'm glad you enjoyed! Yeah even though the VB ended with a small library, the few games that WERE released generally have really nice music. I've been enjoying listening to Galactic Pinball, Teleroboxer, and Red Alarm, but probably Jack Bros has my favorite music on the system.

Excellent work! The extra channels from the VB provide such a full sound, It's like I'm listening in three dimensions

Thank you, that’s so kind! Yeah I remember when I rented a VB from Blockbuster when Nintendo did that promotion back in the day, I was struck by how strongly the games emphasized stereo, so I really wanted to use some panning effects in this piece. Thanks for listening!

This is rad!! And I always said I didn’t like Sonic music! Can you re-do the whole soundtrack like this, and maybe if I could replace the music in the game with your version, I’d finally beat it 😄!
