Hydrogel Paper Instantly Generates 110 Volts of Electricity

Animal-inspired technology has gone electric. These brightly colored, 3D-printed gels have the potential to create up to 110 volts of electricity in an instant, similar to the electric eel.
Rows of small hydrogel dots are packed with positively and negatively charged ions that combine together to mimic an electric eel’s cellular structure. Printing and stacking these hydrogels produces the highest amount of voltage, while a connection to a larger contact area produces the highest current. Scientists are hoping that this system could potentially lead to a device that generates power from inside of the human body.

Honestly, the current may be nothing to speak of at the moment, but an electric eel is NOTHING to sneer at; they can easily kill an adult. They've been recorded at 600v+ and several amps. So, the eel proves that in something the size/volume of a grown man's arm, you could produce a bioelectric device capable of powering quite a bit. Think about this also: the eel at ~1-1.5m long and 10cm diameter only has the electricity-producing cells in a thin layer under the skin (the other 90%+ of the volume of the animal being regular tissue). If you created something with the same power AND energy density of that layer, but it was the size/mass of a Li-Ion battery pack, the Li-Ion would be put to shame.

"Batteryless Battery"???? a. Small aluminum cones with an electrical wire running through the center of the cones, cones spaced apart (not touching I'm thinking) but end to end. b. Electromagnetic radiation energy in the atmosphere interacts with the aluminum cones. c. Jostled atoms and molecules in the cone eventually have some electrons try to get away from other electrons of which those electrons gather at the larger end of the cone, of which also creates an area of positive charge at the smaller end of the cone. d. The electron's in the wire are attracted to the positive end of the cone and the positive 'end' in the wire are attracted to the negatively charged end of the cone. e. Basically a 'battery' has been created inside the electrical wire itself, different areas of electrical potential. Basically a 'wire battery' or a 'batteryless battery', however one wanted to call it. f. Numerous cones placed end to end increases the number of 'batteries' in the wire. Then of course, one could take that generated dc electricity to split H2O into H2 and O2 of which could be burned or utilized in a hydrogen fuel cell to get the electricity back with a byproduct of basically pure water. Species need pure water too. With the increased cosmic radiation that is going to be impacting this Earth this century as well as possibly a mini-ice age, might as well put that cosmic radiation to work for us.

we use 120v for anything that isn't industrial or high powered. some household appliances use 240v though like the clothes washer or dryer. (can't remember which one.) I don't think anyone is supplied 110v anymore. We do get 2, 120v lines and a neutral for 240v appliances. 60hz most stuff doesn't need 240v as it doesn't even come near to using the max amps it provides. It's like taking a Ferrari for a test drive at 20mph. nearly pointless unless your goal is to just get it moving.

So, the key point here is they can create cells to generate electrical energy *from inside the human body* but to make the news a little bit appealing in this poor society of people unable to hold attention more than a second they had to push a "feature" (high voltage) that isn't a feature at all for these cells, just for the sake of grabbing a bit of audience, despite the research is interesting per se and may have much more interesting (untold) characteristics, but hey, too nerdy to be appealing for this circus. EDIT: Here a better explanation of the potential use of these kind of batteries: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-3BZFyT-VC-I.html

But why would you want an "electrical system INSIDE the human body" ?? They keep playing with things that they do NOT fully understand. They still haven't figured out the mind-boggling complexity of the human body, and they want to introduce some artificial electrical generator INTO it?! Same with GMO and nuclear radiation. This tinkering at the smallest level (tinkering with genes and molecules INSIDE the human body) is like a toddler playing with matches with a lot of flammable material around him (but he's too inexperienced to know what flammable material is, and how quickly fire can avalanche). W'eve had the technology to solve all of humanity's problems since the 1960's, BUT THE GREED OF THE ELITE HAVE ALWAYS STOOD IN ITS WAY. New technology since then has mostly just been gimmicks to artificially boost sales in the face of the declining purchasing power of the majority. PEOPLE ARE SO EASILY CONNED BY ADVERTISING AND FLASHY NEW GIMMICKS.

Maybe an electrical system that is non toxic. These are basically made out of salt water. On top of that, since your body can carry current, you could literally charge the battery through your body, which means batteries that could last a long time without needing to be replaced with any invasive procedures. You could allow the battery to take in current, while controlling the flow of current the battery releases. So you could hold a charging device for 10 minutes or just get some charge from walking across a carpet, cumulatively increasing battery life between charges.
