WOW!! Excellent video and love your passion. I have never tried sound design but who knows, you may have inspired me to dig into my own sound library and see what I can create. Thanks for sharing! - Darrin

Very well put together and presented. I've been playing around with some amateur sound design lately for a game I run with friends, but I really just bring downloaded clips together to get what I want. Great to see how people actually get the recordings in the first place. I'd love to know how you manage to get such clean sounds without rustling leaves or wind or whatever.
@rarefindssound
@rarefindssound Год назад
Cheers for watching Matthew. In terms of getting clean sounds I did have quite a bit of background noise during these recordings. For my edits I used a combination of Fade outs & Fade ins and also De-Noise. The best advice I could give would be to really choose your location and be in control of as many variables as possible. But field recording does always have some surprises. Both good and bad!

Very very cool. Thanks. I enjoyed that a lot. I wanted to start doing exactly this kind of thing soon, so I just bought an Arturia MiniLab and already have Cubase and a few recorders (H1n, H6 and an F3). For now I'm just building my sound library and I really want that Aquarian Audio Hydrophone. I love unusual sounds I get from my Geofon, ElektroUsi's, and my contact mics. Hopefully soon I start making some weird and wonderful creations too. Great channel and glad I found it. It's right up my street. Just subbed and will binge watch the rest of your stuff over the next days.

Great video and thanks for sharing your process, Ollie. I was wondering what you're using for/how you've assembled your stereo bar.Thanks!
@rarefindssound
@rarefindssound Год назад
Heya Nick. Thanks for watching! For the stereo bar I've used a Smallrig cheese plate and 2 Joby gorilla pod legs. I've had quite a few questions on this so I think I'll do a video on it as it's been inspired by a few people's builds online

Very cool. The hydrophone sounds great. Have you decided on a license for those 10 free water sfx you shared on bandcamp? I'd like to use them but I wanted to check with you before potentially using them in commercial work.
@rarefindssound
@rarefindssound Год назад
Hey Atezian Audio! Cheers, I really rate the Hydrophone. You're more than welcome to use it on your project. I only ask that you reference where it's from (as in its from a Library & not your own original recordings) and don't use it for resale in a different sample pack / library 🙂. Other than that, crack on and get creative with it!

Do you have any solution to avoid sound from the cable ? When the cable is moving
@rarefindssound
@rarefindssound 3 месяца назад
Depending on what you’re recording you could try wrapping it around a pool noodle or hanging it from a boom pole. I agree, it’s hard to avoid cable sound from handling. Those are solutions I’ve used for this

i wonder, how do you keep track of what you have recorded on site . do you remember , or you just listen and hear what it was?
@rarefindssound
@rarefindssound Год назад
Hi Begligow. I usually speak into my microphone before recording. Telling 'future me' what it is I've recorded, what I've done and where I am. You could also write down each take on a slate list. But I find just talking into the mic is easiest and enough for me.
