You're darn right Arlan's animations are satisfying. He's one of the few character I've seen that get a smooth camera transition when playing on auto. Rather than cut the camera to the character, if he's targetting the same thing as the last character then it pulls back to him and you can hear shackle breaker before you can see him. It feels like they put the same magic into Arlan as they did Beidou's counter.
I'm ngl your videos are incredibly useful to help gauge the endgame potential of every character. I feel like there's a sort of pygmalion effect that works against less popular characters in this game, where the perceived strongest characters like seele, lunae, and jing liu get the most investment and coverage from people due to that perception, which confirms people's idea of them being strong because their endgame potential is so readily visible. Meanwhile characters that are perceived to be not as strong such as himeko, herta, and of course arlan get a lot more reluctance investment wise due to their perception which means less coverage, and if they do get investment it maybe isn't optimal for them which ends up confirming this notion that they are weaker, especially because "no one is using them". Showing that these less popular characters can still pop off if you give them the same love you would give to your shiny limited 5 stars is crucial in reminding people that even these "bad" characters are really not that much worse at clearing content than the best characters in the first place, or in some cases don't even deserve to be considered bad at all. That's why I think channels like yours and Dreamy's are so important to this community for breaking the stigma around less popular characters instead of only perpetuating the popularity of the "top meta" units.
That was very insightful and thank you so much! I absolutely agree with your take on how players’ perception of a unit’s strength can influence how much they invest in them. It creates this cascading effect where less popular characters look even worse given the disparities in investment level. There’s really no bad unit in the game and even the ones that take the most effort can perform more than well enough in the hardest content.
Omg yes, what you said is so true. So many characters get underlooked because of the meta right now. I'm a main Himeko, she was my first 5 star and I immediately fell in love when I got her. Hope to get some of her Es one day. Yesterday I bought her light cone from the store even tho I should've bought Bronya's or Yanqing's, idrc, I absolutely love the art of that light cone, it's my favorite from the game. All these people hating on her only makes me wanna play with her even more.
People perceived the strongest characters based on spreadsheets, not investment. Arlan didn't have Fuxuan and DHIL's lightcone until recently. You couldn't rely on a shield and Bronya without speed tuning. Normally you just need to be in the right order, but a gap between Bronya and the shielder is a dead Arlan. As an off DPS, he is just a skill point slave, unlike Blade and Clara, who tank and are not needy.
@@vultrexzwhy do you need to take dmg? He consumes his own hp, and can be hit regardless, the difference is that you wont be lowering your hp by being hit, but youre still low on hp
@@briangeer1024 if you're running arlan with bronya, gepard's shield will probably expire on him super early opening him up to death, where fu xuan's field is based on her turns and not the allies receiving, so bronya works perfectly
Hell yeah, some well-deserved love for Arlan! I’ve been meaning to build my E6 Arlan for quite a while. Recently took the plunge and been having so much fun with him that I decided to max out his traces, which I hadn’t even done for any other character, including my E2 DHIL and Kafka. He’s so cool, straight-forward, no frills. He’s the best.
Great to see this again! You are my best guide to be honest and I am trying to build now all my harmony characters for Asta Hypercarry, it's so fun to see characters like this.
I wanted to build him before but got discouraged because I keep reading all these bad reviews about him. I was disappointed because I like his character design. Thank you so much for this, it really got me motivated to build him once I finish my Jingliu and some other harmony and nihility characters for support.
I think the destruction path was quite literally made around Arlan. If you look at the blessing at that path a lot is about taking your own hp and being at very little hp as possible which makes me believe that he was the main focus when making destruction, or at least one of the founding members
The destruction path is for sure the best for hp based characters but yh you have a point there. It seems like they designed the path just for arlan lmao
What I love about HSR is you can build all characters and get good results unlike other gacha games where only the 5 stars or ssr rank shines. Hell even the MC of HSR is so good.

I think there are hefty amount of people that likes Arlan and made video of him, but you're the only one that also mentioned his animation. Fr tho, I LOVE THE ANIMATION SO MUCH. It's very satisfying and his lines are awesome. I like the part in the skill where he kicked the ground, it's like he's rushing to kill the enemies lmao. And yeah, it's clearly should be a blast type bro, you can't be kidding me. And his ultimate is perfection. Love the video as always.
I used Arlan a lot at the beginning. Hes's one of my favorite 4 star. The only thing keeping me from using him is the lack of shielder to keep him at 1 HP for a long time. I ain't doing 0 cycles clear anytime soon lmao
I just got Arlan building him immediately and I gotta say as a person who's been playing RPGs his style makes me think of old DRK from XIV when using blood weapon consumed your hp to do BIG DAMAGE
shielders would be safer cause for his max damage you want him to be literally on 1 hp but then you can have a 5k shield from gepard where as being on 1 hp with fu xuan your still gonna die even with his e4 tbh march 7 and gepard are safer options but fu xuan has some nice crit buffs

Loving to see my man Arlan getting to shine!! Many people really don't pay attention or invest in him, and I can understand why given his dynamic of less HP = more damage is kind of difficult to maintain, but he's still my favourite boy and my most beloved, so I just let him carry me in my account, and building him has been worth every second

Ooh. So great to see Arlan’s full potential. Arlan has been on my list to built for ages. I have a soft spot for him as I got Arlan in the first days of HSR. He was basically one of the starter characters and I happily played him in many teams. (Second dps with barely build Jing Yuan) (Bronya being F2P friendly is more about luck than money. I have E1 Bronya and have only bought few welkin moon equivalents. Got her from standard and lost 50/50)
The Ws just keep coming... I remember asking for this a lil while ago, and I'm glad we finally got it... waiting for the hook showcase. I have her at e6, and she's actually competitive with most of my 5 stars, which is awesome to see.
Just something to point out that doesn't really matter.. wouldn't Bronya Skill -> Yukong ult -> Bronya ult allow for more damage due to Yukong buffing Bronya's Crit Damage thus buffing the amount of Crit Damage Bronya's ult provides? Other than that, Arlan has so much potential with the right team being a Berserker archetype character, he even has the self life steal mechanic from killing enemies to let himself not die too quickly. Also very nice that his own LC (if you have it) can give so much DMG% you can kinda flex what Orb you use (Atk or DMG%) since even with a "relatable" Bronya you can stack a ton from her skill + the f2p Forgotten Hall LC.
I'm glad Arlan's getting some love! He's one of, if not my favorite character, but I always feel like I should play my 5 star DPSs. Maybe once I get Bronya and some better relics he'll feel better to play
Finally showcase arlan. Btw i recommend you use Clara card for him because allow to you healing hp. Also you can use 4 piece guard set for extra regeneration hp + to save your dps to not fainted so fast the best sustain for arlan is Not luocha but this time is gepard. Sounds funny right. But it is possible. Enjoy.❤
wait a damn minute, I've been contemplating building Arlan for so long since I have an extra copy of Blade's LC and I have no Lightning dmg dealers. I believe this just sealed the deal.
yeah he's pretty restrictive with team building right now - if you have a good healer they usually just heal way too much and he can't do all his damage sadly :/
@@artumbo That I feel is the kicker that made me sleep on Arlan. I could have used March 7th and Arlan long ago, but the progression demanded Seele to be used. Hook is what I ended up using for my 2nd team to get past SU4 (Svarog) because of her high survivability, so I'd love to see you make a hypercarry Hook build in the future. Now I'm using Serval for the Lightning coverage and my first Erudition that I built, so sorry, I have to sleep for Arlan for longer. I thank you for the showcase nonetheless ^^
Some people have been saying he is underrated but I think his placement any tier list (usually near the bottom) is pretty justified due to the heavy amount of investment and luck that can go into playing him. when investing into any “higher tiered” characters like qingque assuming going off 4stars with e4+ is just so much better despite having a worse luck problem. Just my opinion.
yeah from an investment perspective it definitely makes sense - thing is arlan has quite a high ceiling and the damage is predictable/reliable (tho not quite as high as qingque's for example)

The moment I start playing this game, I already see this guy's kit as amazing and quite actually re-roll a lot only to get him. The only thing I'm missing is Bronya!
Well this video is interesting for two reasons. First is learning Arian is actually viable if you can get his conditions just right. Second is seeing Arlan's animations for the first time.
Since I got Clara might as well build her. A few points why I build her instead of Arlan but the obvious one is because she a 5 star of course she has the 5 star base stats. Another factor is because Clara has more agro with her ult. Last factor is Arlan HP mechanic is kinda contradicting. You want low hp as possible to deal damage, but one heal can make him full HP. So for him to deal big number again he has to use skill 2-3 times before finally he has the hp requirement to deal big damage. While with Clara you just standing there and enemies killing themselves whatever HP she has.
my sampo and 4*dan heng is decently build i might build arlan next after i build jingliu😌 also idk if fu xuan lc is a blessing or a curse, its passive should've been outgoing healing i hate it
I am in a bit of a tight spot. So I started playing 1 month ago and I have wished on 2 banners so far. First I lost 50/50 to yangqing on Fu Xuan banner, next I lost 50/50 on my Jingliu banner to Gepard. So currently I have fu xuan jingliu gepard and yangqing. My Jingliu team is fine, the problem is what the hell am I supposed to do for my second team. Fire/Wind/Lightning/Imaginary are really weak spots in my account, so I was thinking if investing into Gepard would make possible Arlan as dps? However my arlan is at c0 without any relics so far... Should I try this, or maybe build serval? Since with my 0 jade we ain't getting no Kafka, that's for sure lol Oh btw from the jingliu banner I managed to get c6 QQ, so maybe there is an idea about mono quantum with silverwolf, if she gets a rerun and assuming I can collect few jades till then...
holy i would definitely consider your e6 qingque, she's already proven herself to be a super strong! i would focus on your fu xuan and jingliu otherwise and possibly arlan/gepard for the lightning coverage
@@artumbo Exactly my thoughts. Fu Xuan is carrying my chicken characters super hard... I managed to clear swarm III at eq. level 4, with purple relics on everyone, with level 60 Pela with 1600 hp in the team... I do not wanna say something super confident, but imo no other sustainer can do that. As powerful as Luocha is, there is no way he would carry this underleveled team in that content... Fu Xuan is simply life changer and I have 0 worries about sim universe and higher swarm runs. My issue is MOC, I cant even pass the first level, since whoever has Fu Xuan wins and then the other side gets obliterated lol
Yay somebody let Arlan out of the basment finally. Its good to see him run on full buff power teams. It makes me happy to see him pop off since i cant build him due to lack of resources
