Arshan caught up with the founder of Hyperpop Daily for their first interview ever. Starting out as an IG page that highlighted artists making hyperpop, Hyperpop Daily has since established itself as an integral part of underground rap culture.
Starting their conversation, HPD explains the reason for their unique look & why they choose to remain anonymous. They speak on why they’re not scared of being banned, “vibe b*mbs”, and how Matt OX & Unotheactivist know HPD’s real identity. They talk about their age, where they’re from, why they stopped posting hyperpop content, listening to Lil Durk, & having a cult fanbase. HPD explains why they occasionally post dog photos, admitting they don’t care about engagement & are more focused on having fun. They also reveal that they don’t think HPD could ever change its name & address the claim that HPD instigates beef between rappers.
HPD talks about posts they regret, being a “vibe curator”, rappers getting upset over jokes, and their thoughts on Summrs, Ken Carson, & Destroy Lonely. They reveal that Playboi Carti blocked them on IG and describe the situation where HPD asked Summrs about Bladee. They talk about their relationship w/ Bobbalam, Yeat, & wanting to sell their IG account, before talking about how HPD is more than just a meme page. HPD then describes their average fan & how they make money, before listing their top 5 rappers of all time: Summrs, Chief Keef, Lil Shine, Kelly Clarkson, Rihanna. They reveal that they attended the first HPD basketball tournament without anyone realizing, & discuss their plans for the future.
