@@1967mymusic My blood pressure was controlled after about 5 months ironically I was on meds for 5 years. I was getting discouraged with the process at first but I heard someone say “you’ve been putting trash in your body for years so it will take just about that long for healing”. That completely changed my perspective.

I refuse to use pharmaceutical medications. Lost ten pounds and on a low carb lifestyle. 1. Avoid processed foods 2. Cook your own food 3. Take vitamins and essential minerals (potassium and magnesium made a huge difference) 4. Low carb- SUGAR!!! Keto diet (no bread, rice, potatoes, cereal, cookies, cakes, sugar, . . . ) 5. No snacking! 6. No snacking! 7. Intermittent fasting (1-2 meals a day; no snacking! 8. Fasting (18-20 hours) 9. No not use white table salt! Use grey salt from France or pink Himalayan salt! 10. No alcohol! 11. No smoking; cigarette or weed 😂 12. Take one small step at a time! 13. Be patient with yourself. 14. Reduce stress!!! Meditate! Deep breathing when stressed! 15. Spend at last one hour a day with self care. Besides . . . Blood pressure fluctuated so much! It never stays the same. It’s a daily battle! Don’t allow small failures to discourage you as there are so many factors to consider. One small hiccup should never derail your efforts. ❤❤❤❤

This is without a doubt the most comprehensive yet understandable explanation of hypertension and it's complexities that I've ever heard. We all know that hypertension is an epidemic. At a typical visit to a doctor you'll be advised to exercise more and to eat a plant based diet but you're not likely to leave the office with a better understanding of your condition or what caused it. Often even the doctor seems to have a myopic or limited understanding about the pathology of hypertension or maybe they are just not inclined to investigate in depth what factors are at play on an individual client basis. Regardless, they are usually content to rely primarily on meds for addressing it. I wish all doctors shared your compassion for informing their clients about their condition and how to improve it. Thank you Dr Montgomery!❤❤❤❤❤❤

Fantastic information Doctor! I have been wrestling with mine since I was 18. I finally figured out that I had a runaway parasympathetic system and I was always adernalized for a very long time. I learned to reign in or retrain my parasympathetic system, I now eat in a 6 hour window and I am plant based. My results are a pleasing surprise! My blood pressure is well within the normal range for a man of 54. Thank you again for sharing your knowledge with all of us! Much appreciated!

Your videos are a godsend. 53 years old. 5'8. 200 lbs. I'm seeing a cardiologist here in Augusta this Friday. I've lost 25 pounds walking in a field behind my apartment complex. I walk 3-4 days a week, 55 laps. 150 steps per lap. BP is coming down; usually around 146/89, sometimes lower. Thickened left ventricle. Not out of the woods, yet, but getting there; really dialing in on nutrition. If you could produce a video on safe body weight exercises for folks like myself that would be great. I appreciate you and your team, Dr. Montgomery. Be well.:)

In Chinese medicine theory, which is thousands of years old and developed before the advent of the modern diet, high blood pressure is caused by a Liver Yin deficiency, causing the yang to rise. It is also sometimes caused by liver fire, which is inflammation. You are the only medical doctor actually looking at the liver as the cause of heart problems. Thank you!

I went wfpb back in August of last year. I hear about people getting off their meds fairly quickly. I was on Lisinopril, Metoprolol and Amlodipine. I forgot to take my bp meds one day and the next morning I felt so much better! I started looking up the side effects of each medication and the Amlodipine had 3 pages of side effects 😳 I quit taking it. Sometimes it has to be quality of life, not quantity. Went to the doctor last week and my bp was high. Now I have to keep track of it until I go back to the doctor in May. I have Hashimoto’s and read that it can cause blood pressure issues. My heart rate stays around 50 but the bp is high. I see a few things I can add to my arsenal besides the wfpb diet thanks to this video! I HAVE to start walking again and try some yoga or deep breathing maybe. I don’t want to be put on more medication. Thanks Dr Montgomery for your time and caring. God bless you 🙏

Its most from dehydration.. lack of vitamins and constant chronic stress and social media doesn't help... most people drink and smoke and make it worst.. because they are trying to navigate through uncomfortable symptoms... but thats the major causes and also psychological factors.. if we change that and change our way of thinking everything changes also constantly hydrating and vitamins should alleviate and help... also medications does not work for it it causes dehydration and more problems adding now adverse effects and psychological adverse effects as well...

How does one get off blood pressure medication if the blood pressure is being caused by collapsed kidneys/kidney damage???

It's a process. It depends on the details of the patient's condition.

The only thing that gets my blood pressure down is fasting and of course I can't do that the rest of my life. I eat less than 20 carbs daily, no processed, at one time I stopped eating all animal products. All this in an effort to figure out what was triggering it. I have juiced for a year (14 years ago) when it was discovered I had cancer and I discovered it had to be from the food and life style. The only thing I have not tried for an extended period of time is eating raw. I don't want to juice anymore. To much sugar in juice even if it is natural.

I am weird and don't know how to make of it. Sitting around or office work my BP can go over 140/90, but when I exercise I see it go as low as 103/69. What does this mean?

Thank you Doctor Montgomery for this very important information. I am trying to help my 87 year old father living in the Republic of Palau. I got him juicing but he’s complaining about his feet hurting and can’t sleep because they hurt and are swollen. He has to go to Taiwan for a checkup because the hospital is not equipped with the right machines to detect what’s wrong. He’s concerned. He thinks there something wrong with his heart. Can you tell me what he can do please. He’s had a stroke some 6 years ago and started juicing but this one thing is a problem now.

I wish him the best. Juicing is helpful. Hopefully, he is also eating a plant-exclusive diet.

This is a lot of unnecessary detail/information for a general public - that is not preparing for a medical/biology exam. Keep it simple and the essential information will be retained to effect a change in life style. Too much talking is a put off and you lose viewers from watching/listening to the end of your podcast/broadcast.
