U2 is the greatest rock band of the last 40 years and the biggest live band of the last 35 years

U2 have a pretty robust catalogue; they've been around for a long time. They offer a listener a unique opportunity where you can start at the beginning with them as they were mere teens starting out and still learning to play their instruments and observing their growth as years and then decades roll by. The Joshua Tree is perhaps considered their most classic album; it's the one where they "made it to the big times" although there are proponents in their fan base who prefer the high of their earliest years (War) or the high art of 90s U2 with Achtung Baby! or even their more adult contemporary material like All that You Can't Leave Behind. Truth be told, they cover a wide range of sounds; even people who claim to not like U2 usually tend to have a "except for X/Y/Z era which was cool" clause in their argument. I tend to enjoy their 90's phase more than anything; Bono's voice was fully developed, they were still young but had a lot of experience and their work was very unique compared to what everyone else was doing at the time. It was amazing to see them so confident, arty and at the top of their game.

Achtung Baby their album from 1991 is universally seen as a Masterpiece as well. The song One is probably the most played one off of that album, but maybe try and react to Love is Blindness and the live version from their ZooTV concert in Sydney.

Young Bono had an incredible good voice and the Joshua Tree is one of the most iconic albums of the 80s. "The unforgettable fire" is another great choice of many good U2 albums. Check the U2 - Bad (Live Aid) video on youtube.

Achtung Baby's my personal favorite U2 album... their song, One, is just an all-timer for me (and the best live version is probably from that tour). Well fk, now you got me thinking of my favorite U2 live performances lol I guess for the officially released footage that's out there: Sunday Bloody Sunday ('83 @Red Rocks) October/ Bullet the Blue Sky ('15 @Paris) Bad ('85 @Live Aid) All I Want Is You/ Where the Streets... ('01 @Slane Castle) Please ('97 @Mexico City) No real order to the list. Also, if typing out a list of preferred live U2 performances in a youtube comments section on a Friday evening is proof of anything, it's that I have no life 😵‍💫

Achtung Baby! Joshua Tree a close second. Go for a live version of Until The End of the World, Sydney ‘94.

That drummer is powerful and fast, towards the end his hands and sticks are just a blur.

Absolutely, Joshua Tree is a timeless masterpiece front-to-back. I would also highly suggest listening to the radically divergent Achtung Baby (released just 4 years later), and the more subtle, but equally powerful The Unforgettable Fire (which set the stage for the Joshua Tree thereafter). All three albums in full are exceptional.

Joshua tree was their fifth studio album. They're an Irish band who started together in the late 70s. They just finished a residency in las Vegas at the sphere. Played shows for a few months. I got to see them there and they are still great. They've got lots of hits from the early 80s to the early 2000s. Most people would say Joshua tree is their best album with achtung baby a close second.

Wow you started with With or Without You from the Rattle and Hum Movie. Possibly the greatest live version of this song . You have set the bar very high 😃 Always do U2 live , they are one of the greatest live acts of all time. The album Achtung Baby along with the Joshua Tree are masterpieces. Other great albums are Boy,War,The Unforgettable Fire ,Pop and All that you can’t leave behind. U2’s first 20 years is up there with the best. They changed their sound and image album to album. Moved with the times and constantly reinvented themselves.
