I first found Hyram. Then James. Then, his twin Robert. I also found Susan. My skin looks so much better and I am hiding it behind a mask, and keep distance from others and noone can see it. But I am so confident about myself, and I feel happy about myself. This comunity has helped me so much.

Hyram came in for skincare in kids. The skincare community before him was very adult and mature and he was the kid in the community that I personally related with so much. He got me and a lot of people my age into skincare so ya. It’s why he’s more popular because tik tok and teenagers
It really is the sincerity, supportiveness and kindness that just glows out of James. As I'm watching this I can just sense he must be a ACTUAL good person because I sensed no fake love or pretense, he really is so happy for Hyram and this makes me so happy to see that there are actual good people out there.
I've loved your channel for a while and I've got a Chemistry BSc (Hons), I'm currently studying for an MSc in Materials science, so thought I could share some insight with regards to polymers in cleansing balms. Polyethylene (PE) and Polyethylene Glycol (PEG) have different functional groups; the important chemical difference between these two polymers is water solubility. PEG is a polyether, which means that there is oxygen bonded between two carbons. The presence of oxygen makes PEG significantly more water-soluble as oxygen is able to form hydrogen bonds. This leads to a faster rate of biological degradation with PEG than in PE so PEG is significantly better to have in a cleansing balm than PE. PEG is often used in the pharmaceutical industry as well. Its deffo worth looking into some of the research with regards to hydrogels- PEG is a great biopolymer!!

Hey just one thing, polyethylene glycol is very different from polyethylene chemically. PEG is not a mixture of polyethylene and glycol but a complete different thing. PEG is hydrophilic so it dissolves in water very well, at higher concentration it can be made into a gel. Polyethylene is common plastic but PEG is a FDA approved biocompatible material. (A lot established research used PEG polymers to deliver anti-cancer drugs to tumor)
This! Polyethylene glycol is NOT polyethylene. It's like, sodium will catch fire if you eat it, chlorine can give you chlorine poisoning, but NaCl is necessary for our health.

I literally teared up with you, because for the last 2 years I've been struggling with really really bad acne. I never had it as a teen, I'm 32. but 2 yrs ago I was diagnosed with a few G.I. diseases, and all the sudden my face went crazy. i can't remember the author (if anyone knows, help me out!) but there was a woman who wrote about that idea of skincare as self-case, and how that's one of the reasons (mainly in body care directed towards women) a lot of products will use words like indulge, will create scents adjacent to food, and make the skin care look like whipped cream or custards in their advertisements. since it's been so targeted at women in the past, and since women are often told to restrict (mainly in their diets, but in plenty of other ways--and men are told to do the same to some extent!), so the advertisers use those enticing words and images to make up for what we tend to deprive ourselves of. That's why i love channels like yours and Hyram's. You sort of reclaim that into primarily focusing on indulging for the sake of self-love and being kind to yourself.

I loved this James! I’m not into reaction videos but you know I HAD to watch this one. I was surprised to see the toner too! I really love the thoughts both of you shared at the end, because truly, doing my skincare routine is the only time I really take for myself and I want to enjoy it. I use effective products of course, but also focus on textures and packaging that just makes me happy! At times, it is the thing that really keeps me sane and feeling good when life is a mess. Also, the way you look and talk about Hyram at the end like a proud older brother is just the best! You introduced me to Hyram when he was below 30k followers and seeing him take off has been so fun.

Banila co. is hands down my fav first (oil-based) cleanser. Currently using the cosrx low pH cleaser as a 2nd cleanse, but kinda looking for an alternative.

I actually started using retinol when I was 13, I went to a dermatologist because of my skin I had bad acne and nothing was working and he gave me tretinoin and at the time it didn't work lmao it made my skin go from super oily to dry but I now know it was because of how I was using it. I used it since the day I got it every single day with no buffer, no moisturizer or sunscreen!! and it was during my soccer season in the sun all the time r.i.p my skin but since it made my skin super dry that got me into skincare so I'm really grateful for that. It started off with moisturizer and then my skincare obsession followed at 14 thats tough. I started binging on Hyram's channel, your channel, Susan Yara's channel, and Cassandra's and I can truly say all of you all have completely changed my skin and I don't know what I would've done if I hadn't
For me, I had to go through a “fragrance is the devil” phase in order to get my skin to a point where I could tell which fragrances it *can* tolerate, and which ones set it off (since my skin is super sensitive + rosacea prone). Now I’ve been able to add the rare fragrant product here or there. The most annoying thing, to me, is that companies can just lump together any fragrant ingredient or essential oil so people like me can’t tell if it’s, say, lavender (which I actually have a mild allergy to even when I injest it), or something my skin is fine with like rose, mint, or frankincense. The sniff test can only go so far.
Honestly it sucks so bad for me, I’m super allergic to rose and if I do use any skincare with it My face will look almost burned. I’m guessing you struggle with the same thing being allergic to a common fragrant ingredient, it’s incredibly hard to avoid both lavender and rose. Def easiest to go totally fragrance-free! Ps- I feel like we should share product faves with each other lol
