This would be great except the infotainment system on ours does not cooperate with either of our phones, both of which have Android Auto, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth turned on, etc. Android Auto icon never even appears on the infotainment screen. Nice to know it's simple for some though.
Hi Ron! The kind of cord you use is very important! To get it to work it is best to use the cord that originally came with your phone or another fast charging/high speed data transfer cord. You do also have to make sure that android auto is turned on. You can do so in the connectivity settings of your vehicle. What year is your car?
Hello, with Apple CarPlay can you use other music player apps (besides iTunes or Spotify) ? And same for navigation, can you use any other navigation apps (Google Maps, Yandex) besides Apple Maps ?
Yes, to both of your questions! For music apps, I've personally been able to use Pandora, Audible, iheartradio, and several others! For maps I've also used the Waze app. This link should be helpful: www.makeuseof.com/tag/best-apple-carplay-apps/
nice vid but you did not show how to program an ipod, you used an iphone. i just bought a 2020 sonata and loaded the android app and it wont play my ipod when i plug it into the usb port. do i have to use apple to play mu ipod? thanks
Unfortunately I don't believe you can use an ipod for Apple Carplay. It needs to be an iPhone or Android with cellular data to take advantage of the features. You can still use bluetooth to listen to music.
@@maddyfromwithnellhyundai5927 thanks for your reply. my ipod has 100 of my fav songs and i love it. bought a speaker and hooked up the ipod via the speaker jack. works great and i still have hands free. i traded a 16 Genesis coupe and a 2020 elantra for this car and they both had jacks for my ipod and i didnt have to hook up my phone to the usb port. this is the only thing i dont like about my new sonata. this is my 3rd sonata and i had 3 elantras and a genesis sport coupe. guess u could say im a loyal customer.
I cannot get my Samsung s10plus to charge nevermind play android auto as I cannot connect without a cable. It does charge on the wireless pad. Used many cables to no avail. Ports all lit up, just won't charge. Any ideas please Kona 64kw 21.plate
Hi Savina! If you have not already found the solution you have to enable the wireless charging pad in the vehicle settings. It is either in the settings on the infotainment center or on the screen that shows the speedometer.
Not exactly! While the functions are similar, there are several benefits to using Android Auto over standard navigation. The built in navigation in your vehicle does not continuously update or show traffic data. To do that you need to pay for a subscription service and GPS updates every couple of years. With Android Auto you have free access to Google Maps, which is constantly updating it's servers so your maps will never be outdated. Also with Android Auto you can control your music apps by voice. You can tell Google to play music by a specific artist or a certain song on Spotify and several other music apps.its gives you hands free control of your devices so you don't need to park to change your navigation, playlist, or send a text message.
