No you don't need to but it dont hurt to remove it so it dont get damage in the process

@@rickmcculloch374 were you able to take the hub out without removing the strut?

@@rohan9089 no, I ended up having to remove the strut from the bracket, pulling the axle out of the Center and out of the way, put the bolts in a bit and gave it one tap and out it came! It was a really hard job but because of the rust here in Atlantic Canada. Everything is more difficult repairing cars here. Thank you for the follow up!

That happened because you didn’t tighten the axle nut properly

@@DULLAHGOSOHARD damn, I fucked up I was thinking the same. What what hitting the sensor? It took the whole top closer to the rotor. I can send you a pic. I gotta to buy a new abs sensor

Yes it was a bad bearing I dont remember how many miles on it

How did you diagnose the issue?

Mine went bad at 105k. Seems like a pretty short life span

You have to press the bearings in and out or order a used spindle on ebay.com

I have a 2013 Elantra is there a magnet on the front bearing

Not necessarily if you drive 30k miles a year or if you drive on a lot of rough roads where potholes abound you can get a bearing failure
