You realise that he is making money by selling deals from the carwow website? Who is going to buy an expensive car? These cheap cars are what they keep the lights on.
I had the 2019 DCT model and it was an amazing car. It ticked a lot of boxes and was surprisingly stable at high speeds (around 160 kmh, don’t ask how I know). I have driven 55k kms in under 2 years, went to Italy, France and many places. Never had a single issue. It’s an underrated car.
lmao having issues in a car before 100.000km/5 year warranty is to be expected, I mean why you think they give you that warranty?? because it's almost guaranteed to run fine until you run out of warranty LOL!
@@xorkatoss well, I purchased a BMW and got two (medium) issues in the first 6 months… I had to take it twice to the shop to get it checked/repaired. So a warranty doesn’t necessarily equal to no issues.
Matt: Lets check out the boot. The capacity is 353 litres. Also Matt: The small car with the biggest boot is the Skoda Fabia (image appears on screen showing the Skoda Fabia only has a 330 litre boot).
@@petrosrz8990 when we say "biggest" we mean capacity. a better shape would be "more practical". either Matt made a mistake about which has the biggest boot, or the editor put the wrong screenshot
@@Twongz_does_anything what? 😂. What kind of useless measure would that be? Might as well tell us it fits 1 suitcase. That's like them saying the car can do 0-60 in 30 seconds if you accelerate slowly, rather than quoting the fastest it can do 0-60
Hey everyone, new RU-vidr from Greece here, my latest video is only 3 minutes long, but I feel like it will help a lot of people do more. Every type of love and support is highly appreciated. 💕
better check out this documentary, before you buying it. Drivers fear for safety as years-long recall fails to catch some engine failures ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-2iaMHhWkSNw.html
@@kpopkpop5235 I watched this on the evening it came out, it’s really only vehicles with the 2 litre and 2.4 litre engines, I would disregard that for this car.
Oh Matt, always risking his delicate hands on the scratchy plastic though he might break a nail.. he does it for the good of the public. What a great chap!
Matt actually missed an important thing about this car: the clutch is "by wire", the pedal isn't directly connected to the clutch, but uses an electrical signal and an actuator. That allows the car to decouple the engine from the transmission, allowing the car to coast when you lift the foot from the throttle, and at the same time makes the clutch pedal lighter and easier to use in city traffic.
For everyone wondering about long trips, I drove 310 miles yesterday with this car, reaching speeds of up to 133 mph, all in eco mode. I can say that this is a very comfortable car to drive. It is also very fun and very forgiving when shifting. It's my daily driver, and I love this car so much.
When he reviews "NORMAL" cars he expects them to have the features materials and build quality of much more expensive vehicles. Who cares about hard plastics on a dashboard? I don't fondle or squeeze the one in any of my vehicles. The only time I touch the dashboard is to clean it.
Hi Matt, nice review that helped made my choice for this i20 about 6 months ago :) however, here in France we have slightly different caracs for the high-level: no heated seats (shame), dual-clutch automatic gearbox with 7 speeds (very cool, and gives a level 2 autonomous driving), two-tone paint (black on the roof) and the car is fitted with 17" Hankook Ventus Prime 3 tires (less noise tan Michelin, and grips a bit better on the dry). After more than 10k kilometers, it's a very nice car, playful on twisty roads, awesome on long highways trips! If I had to change it, it would only be for the N version with 204hp 😁
all Hyundai theta engines cease up around 50k-90k. thats why Hyundai changes its name to "smart stream". they are exact same engines but pretending as newly designed engine. Do not trust Hyundai - KIA.
Actually the exterior got me first and I had no issue with the plastic interior. I would rather have the i20s interior than piano black everywhere which gets dirty AF. The digital dash and the reverse camera also sold me on the car because here the i20 with all these costs much less than an entry level 208 or the cheapest Fabia/Fiesta/Astra. The only car offering better value for money is the new Dacia Sandero BUT after seeing them both, the i20 felt night and day compared to that.
They tried hard to make it look different actually, the design of the back of this car is a hot mess! It has all the right ingredients but everything in the back is misplaced...
Nah I disagree. Some people just can never be satisfied. Any less lines and u would complain it's too boring. There's never a new car when people don't seriously complain about unless it's much more expensive...

A request from Sweden. Please add litres per 100 km in your reviews as well. You might have an wider audience than you think Mat:) thank you for great content!
Looks like the seat Ibiza for some reason 😂 these are amazing little cars and not just for grannies, these are just brilliant, really should be appreciated. Missed these reviews 😫😭
You'll be surprised to know that the i20 in India is much better than that of the UK i20. How you may ask?, Here are the reasons : 1. Better fit and finish (look at the review of Indian i20 and check out its interior) 2. Many engine options : • 1.2L petrol (4 cylinder) • 1.5L diesel (4 cylinder) • 1.0 L turbo (which produces 118bhp of power and 172 Nm of torque, the UK counterpart as per this video, only produces 100bhp of power) 3. Many transmission options : 1. Manual 2. IMT 3. DCT automatic 4. Many free colour options Seems like Hyundai is upset with Britishers calling them "Hayundai".
This is the car for someone who just wants ‘a car’ they do not care about anything just four wheels, goes, stops can put things in it. Everything else is a bonus. The kind of person when asked what car they drives would answer “a blue one”
Exterior design language reminds me VAG group and more precisely Seat design language. Without badges first time seeing it, I definitely would guess this as some new Seat model. I like it.
@@dwade3202 I feel the same. Hyundai made some odd choices and I completely agree with Matt on for instance the rear design and the quality of the interior materials.
But what is the benefit? You can't get the 1.0 turbo on the top end variant with a good old manual or even the imt. Only the dry clutch dct is available. Amd what about the diesel only coming with manual? Many people prefer automatic with diesel.
@@sierrachief117 I don't know about other's, but I prefer diesel hatchbacks with 6 speed manual. But yeah I get you, they should have given a DCT gearbox on the diesel too(with paddle shifters).
5:18 I own this exact model, and I was wondering why I don’t have a second floor. I thought it was because of the battery and the heat it generates, but the reason is that I can put it in a lower position. This is genius!
In Brazil, I’ve got the impression that this i20 could perfectly face VW Polo, Peugeot 208, and GM Onix... But Hyundai chose to keep selling the “fish-car” HB20! 😑
unfortunately, here in Paraguay they sell that HB20, and it doesn't even have a Smart Key ... Try importing the i20, but it will cost me approximately $ 30,000, the Tecno version...
I recently had one of these as a hire car, what i noticed was engine noise, i was certain i was driving a diesel. I was surprised when i opened the fuel cap and it said it was petrol. Wind noise was also noticeable.
Depends on who you are asking. Someone below poverty line or Mukesh Ambani. India is a diverse country my man and not a country like Denmark where you can generalise 😂😂
Yeah jo... for us it is upmarket... cus we've never had a hatch loaded with features like this one... the VW polo in our country has been the same since its launch ..... the only other car it can be compared with is altroz from tata... its an Indian automobile manufacturer.....
Things are different in India. Due to high import tax. Some of the best cars cost too much. What will be his opinion about Fortuner legendar which costs over $60000 in India.
Matt I think you're a bit harse the i20.. I mean, I know what you mean about the styling, but when a car offers so much tech and has actually a quite different styling than all the other cars in this segment, does it really bother that the plastics are.. plastics?
There is a bit of Seat to the external design and I agree the rear is a mess. As with so many new cars, the dashboard design leaves a lot to be desired. Consolidating controls in to a touch screen has left designers with acres of blank dash. Personally, I think the traditional design with switches, dials and knobs looks far better, is easier to use and safer when on the move.
Taxes+better safety equipment. Even Hyundai also does the stupid cost cutting maruthi is infamous for. Although it is locally made which makes the car slightly cheaper.
We have to accept this for wat it is, at the price the spec it's pretty good, great warranty and safety kit etc, The colour is hardly boring, u loved it on the Golf R, although I have to say this review is not so bias. It might be time to be more fair on the budget brands and what they bring to the table. Sadly not everyone wants or can afford 25k and above.
In India you have more drivetrain options like 1 litre turbocharged DCT and 1.2 torque converter and manual gearboxes but mild-hybrid option is not available
The footage of overtaking capability on the motorway is totally staged, unless the model being driven is the 1.2L 84BHP base spec version (not available with mild hybrid) ! Having driven the 100PS 1.0L turbo 7 speed DCT, it has more than plenty enough oomph to zip past traffic in the outer lane, without holding up on-coming vehicles, especially vans (utter nonsense)! Furthermore, it is very composed overtaking on motorway bends with Lane keep assist. Why is Matt deliberately driving like an octogenarian at 9:22 ("Driving Miss Daisy" impersonation) ?
Audi but if they were asian; sharp edges just like audi, except audi tends to use more.. "parallel" lines and it's just more typically European.. that makes sense? totally see what you mean tho. good observation
No, he just means it is as good as his 911, but the 911 is far better, and nothing is similar with his 911. He just wants to make it sound interesting.
For what do you need a soft touch dash? I never touch the surface of it, only for cleaning - and then it´s very comfortable to clean when it´s hard plastic.
