I’ve done 23k miles in mine so far, once you get brave enough to push this thing it really is incredible. I’ve put Eagle F1’s on it now and the grip is superb, well worth changing. One thing I will say, it’s designed to be driven hard so it needs to be pushed to get the best out of it.
Thought was a ep3 CTR replacement. Actually the love child of a 205 gti and e46M3. Love mine. PZero are awesome in the warm, rubbish in the cold. And basically worn after 6k miles.
I love mine, fun, nimble and fast enough to make you grin without it trying to kill you Lifting the inside rear on roundabouts is awesome and never gets old Could do with a lighter flywheel
Had mine since Oct 2021 and still love it! Only disagree with your color preference. The blue makes it stand out more which as a hot hatch which is deliberately brash and in your face, is better. Also, I think more people are buying white/black/red so the twin color blue/black will be more sought after as time goes on…as it’s a sure fire future classic!
@@volkswizard absolutely, you’re right! I just only seem to see black and white ones on RU-vid videos and have only ever seen one other blue one on the road even 2 years on!
Had mine for 3 months and its an awesome little thing. My previous cars in order are Audi TTS, FK8 Honda Civic Type R, BMW M140i, Toyota GR Yaris and a Leon Cupra290. The i20N is probably my favourite as an all round bang for buck experience. Yes it's down on power from what I'm used to....but in the real world it ain't that far away, due to its weight. The handling and grip is superb, and it rides so much better on PS5'S. Love the styling, and the tech. Usually change my cars every 12 months or so....but I'll be keeping hold of this for much much longer....if not for good. Not seen another in the wild yet.....so its a rare thing....and it gets much more attention in its Performance Blue than any of my previous cars as well ! Love it ❤
I drive in N mode with the exhaust configured to the quietest setting, I've also disabled the sound piped into the cabin this makes motorway driving much more refined.
Options on these were colour options, black roof and Bose Great little cars, as good if not better than the fiesta ST but not the build quality of the Polo GTI
Had a Honda Fn2 for 10years ..Great car in fact brilliant... Moved upto a golf R. DSG had for 3 years....Again great car..Considered a new R but the price makes you think . After watching the rewiews on this car i have now ordered a i20n because of the price and package you get.. Awaiting delivery this month. Happy motoring!
Thought this was an ep3 CTR replacement. More like love child of 205 gti and e46M3. Light, short wheelbase. Great value and only 3 options to add! Firm but brilliantly damped. You’ll love it. And yes I’ve had all 3 cars mentioned.
love it Andrew ❤, we really want one of these ourselves at the moment hopefully one day!!! Seen lots of youtube reviews and everyone seems to really rate them!!! 👍👍👍
Great to see you reviewing some other marques Andrew, especially interesting to hear your views on the competition as a VAG aficionado and journalist of good pedigree.
@@volkswizard volkswizard dub jam at caffeine and machine next!!! Or your mates diner/cafe! (Not that you haven’t got enough to do!) I don’t know how you do it! 👏👏👏
My one gripe about the I20N is the monumental over rev on change up. It sounds like a learner driver changing gear and not fully off the throttle. Always bugged me.
@@Buck3366 It's definitely not from a heavy flywheel. It's purely from Euro emissions, to reduce off throttle emissions and can be tuned out. Tuners have confirmed that. Later models don't get it in N mode because they must have tweaked the tune and it's milder in the other modes. I drove one in 2021 and it was marked in that car.
Further to my earlier comment, I am surprised just how few i20Ns you see around. The number registered in UK appears to be very low too. Given the low price, I guess that the market sector must be very small. This is a shame really. My partner who has just bought her all black one is 60, so I can’t imagine that it just appeals to young folk.
Australia is only just getting the Golf R 20 year model to order in July on line to stop the main dealer Mark up. 50 cars starting at $77,500 plus on road costs. Figure in the $80k plus. The i20n was a sellout successes at about $40k here. Plus a two year wait. Wow.
Well done Andrew on 50k subs! A great video I certainly think that the Hyundais are light years ahead of where they were and they make some fantastic cars now including the Ns it certainly looks and sounds the part! Can see why they are so popular
Thanks so much Daniel, it's great to get to 50k though not sure why...? Hyundai really have seen a gap in the market with N cars and I suspect the I30N and I20N are just the start, we might even get more hardcore versions of these 2 cars that mate all the character and chassis excellence with some proper punch.
My partner has just bought an all black i20N as her daily and it is very hard to criticise at its price point of £25K. Being manual, with a real handbrake (and a whole bundle of stuff as standard) makes it a bit of a bargain driver’s car. I guess that it has been built to a price but nothing wrong with that.
I think you have problems with your microphone. On your recent videos there's a constant high pitch tone when you do your walk around the car. Still great content so no problems there
Thanks J, I'll check that out, I think it's GoPro wifi interfering with the radio mic. I usually switch the wifi off but this video was a rush job (30 min with car for a 15 min video!) so had to compromise but will try and avoid that in future videos - 2 more to come from this event so I will listen out for it when editing
Hi Andrew. Great car. Remember when all your options were included in the price? Happy days. Did consider an i30N back in Nov 20 but chose the Mk8GTI over rear space and finish. Didn't know about the IT woes to come!
Seems a lot closer to a ‘sporty’ car for the common man than the golf ‘r’ - which as good as it is, does seem now a very expensive almost track car. I say that having seen more golf r’s new this week than I can remember, is there a sale on at the mo!
No sale, but VW are actually delivering cars to customers that have been waiting 2 years - that means a sale can't be too far away as a lot of these will be hitting the market as they will have been ordered at 2021 prices and with a discount so potentially some profit to be had, but only if supply doesn't exceed demand...
Nice vid. Both cars in front of you seem to open the distance in the closed parts when exiting the turn -where the i20n is supposed to have optimal performance-, and in the high speed bowl, they almost...disappeared..!!
I'd certainly have one of these over the terminally dull Polo GTI, despite the I20s challenging looks. The Fiesta ST 8.5 is far superior to this as a fun road car, in my opinion.
@@muckspreader1able Its looks are subjective, its ability to put a smile on a driver's face isn't. Your comment says more about you that it does about the car.
@@JetLi-zt5qh If all you want is straight-line speed, you will probably approve of the electric legislation. Most enthusiastic drivers want a little more than that.
Thanks for the feedback :) I'm using the best mics possible now, only issue is the Hero4 wifi creates some background audio noise. I usually switch it off but that takes longer to set up and with a strict 30 mins with the car, unfortunately compromises have to be made.
Much to celebrate 50k subs - nice car however I’d prefer the Fiesta ST I think which is a sore point in Aus as Ford has dropped Focus and Fiesta STs as we all allegedly buy only SUVs sadly - looked like fun though 🎯👏🏎
That was interesting as the I20N felt a little choppy as I got onto the high speed bowl as it's far from smooth and the car is stiff so I got up to speed quite slowly. Not such an issue for the Golf R 20 years on DCC which is better at high speeds. ⏩
Thanks Jonathon 👍 Mk5 will be back soon but Mk2 is in limbo, needs paintwork but then have to store it outside for the forseeable future so don't really want to spend £3500 on paint, must work that out somehow as I do want to get it going on the channel again.
