Hyundai i30 Fastback N Review | Badge Snobs Are Missing Out!!!
Hello guys, and welcome back to Car Obsession. You know what they say, better late than never, and I've finally got my hands on the i30N. Not just any one, though, the Fastback N, the five door coupe version. Ok, it's been out for around 2 years, but when Hyundai gave me the chance to have one for a week, I was hardly going to turn it down, was I?
Under the sleek, Shadow Grey body is a 2.0 litre turbocharged four cylinder petrol engine which offers 275hp along with 353Nm of torque, although there is an overboost function that offers a temporary torque figure 378Nm. 0-62 is done in 6.1 seconds and the top speed is 155mph. As well as offering potent performance, it has the handling to go with it as it has an electronically controlled limited slip differential as well as variable dampers.
It also has beefy brakes and Pirelli P Zero tyres wrapped around 19" alloys. Development was overseen by Albert Biermann, who used to be the head honcho at BMW's M division, so safe to say he knows a thing or two when it comes to performance cars.
The Hyundai i30 Fastback N also offers a high level of kit, strong value, and a 5 year warranty which extends to track usage, so is it worth overlooking the badge and not buying something German?
