Why I Bought An i30N Fastback (Instead Of A Hatchback) 

Obviously I'm biased, but I do think the Fastback is the more "timeless" looking car and will age very well. The hatch looks great too but is a bit more 'generic hot hatch'.

@@i30NOwner I have a fastback (had to take it) and I'm not really satisfied with its look. Ppl seem to like it but for me its way too sedan like and I can't accept that it is front wheel drive ;)

Good taste! Love the red colour (the first i30N I ever saw was a red pre-facelift hatch, made me fall in lover when I heard the sound from it). Heaps more content planned so stick around to find out.

This channel is definitely new, but luckily enough my brother (who records/edits the videos for my main business channel about marketing) helps out on the production side here. Basically I do the scripts/audio and he puts the video together. So all credit to him really. I 'd like to get to know your perspective on choosing i30N over other performance cars with more or less the same price point (like GR corolla, yaris etc.). Also, I' d like to see how you clean it exterior and interior wise by yourself, step by step (of course, if you do it, and don't always trust proffesionals)!

Kona N is very cool. I love the Kona shape ... my wife isn't a big car person (she often says there's only three cars she really likes - the Golf GTI, the Subaru Outback and the Range Rover) but I've shown her Konas before and she likes them. I'd get her a Kona N if it wasn't such a gas guzzler for the amount of driving she does. Maybe a Kona EV for her next car though, would be a perfect addition to the fleet.

TBH I don't know a huge amount about the i30N Sedan (which I think is the Elantra N overseas?) as we don't have those in New Zealand, just the i30N hatch and Fastback. However, my understanding is that if you want the absolute best performance and features the i30N Sedan/Elantra N is better than the i30N hatch/fastback. That being said, in the 'real world' there isn't too much to it (although I believe i30N Sedan now has radar cruise, for example, which I hate not having in my i30N) and the average driver probably cannot find the difference between the two performance-wise. It comes down to looks and the deal you can get. I personally don't love the i30N Sedan/Elantra N shape, I think it looks a bit too aggressive ... but appreciate many others prefer it. Great cars whichever way you buy though.

Possible. I've also seen some claims (at least when the mk1 Fastback launched) that it handles better because it has a lower center of gravity, but once again not sure how true that is. Realistically, unless you are some trained race driver testing in controlled conditions you will never pick up on the difference ... both the Fastback and Hatchback are amazing to drive and in the real world nothing separates them performance-wise. It's all about whether you prefer the look of the Fastback over the hatch and can live with the practicality sacrifices. IMO the Fastback is the best looking Hyundai ever built. I think the Elantra N/i30N Sedan (as it's sold in Australia) is a bit too aggressive and angular.

Good point. That is basically one of the reasons I went for the Fastback. I love the hatch shape (if I was just buying as a 'weekend toy' I'd go for the hatch in performance blue I think) but I use my i30N on a daily basis to do things like visit clients at their offices, pick them up from the airport to go to meetings and so on. It's important to have a decent vehicle in my line of work but appearing boy racer-ish is not a good look. The Fastback is a very mature shape I think. Everybody I've shown it to loves the looks. I personally prefer flying under the radar a little bit.

Fiesta ST is a great car though! I looked at one of the current (maybe it's last gen now?) ones when I bought my Swift Sport, the car I had before the i30N. The issue was getting a Fiesta ST new was too difficult in NZ, very little in the way of stock. I kind of regret not buying one when they were available for about $30K NZD ... price really shot up when they became available again. I think you should be very pleased with and proud of your car.
