I love seeing reviews like this when I’ve got one coming in a week. Thanks for reinforcing I’ve made the right decision 🤣 like you say, the DCT makes so much more sense for a lot of people like me who do 500-700kms a week, a large amount of them in traffic. The manual is a great car but for me daily the dct was a no brainer.
@@bagaloide I'm not sure where this is coming from as in my opinion its one of the most comfortable hot hatches I've ever driven! I think some people expect them to drive like a rolls royce and then perform well in sport mode! In my opinion - one of the best, if anything it's too comfortable for my liking!
@@bagaloide I agree with Car Mad Dad, it’s a very comfortable ride. I’m super impressed actually. Coming from my Merc I wasn’t expecting a great deal but am blown away by the comfort, quality and lack of noise inside the cabin. If you want to get picky you can say in rough surfaces there’s some noise but in reality you’ll get that in any car. If you’re coming from a soft riding SUV you’ll notice an obvious diff in ride quality but that’s very understandable. An amazing daily drive and when you hit that N mode button hold the F on. It all comes alive! I’ve done 550km in the last 2 days and both days I didn’t want to get out of it, it’s just so fun to drive.
@@anthonywarry339 Ahh, nice! I’m getting more and more convinced! And what do you think of the handling around tight spaces, like parking and stuff like that? I have a relatively tricky parking spot...
Turbo and intercooler are bigger on the gen 2 i30N , DCT model also runs 1.5 psi more boost than the manual Front brakes are also bigger on the gen 2 as well 365mm rotors
That sounds like a long time but no doubt it will go by in a flash if this last year is anything to go by chappy. Thank you for the view and good luck in March 👍
January 10th is my ETA for a shadow grey DCT. only 17 days but i know thats gonna drag 😣 great review, reminds me of how i felt on the test drive. what a car😍
@@kibou7578 my order was delayed🥲 originally had a shadow grey ordered which I was told I wouldn’t get until June so I went for a performance blue model they had in the showroom. Pick up on Wednesday
@@kibou7578 yeah it is but I struck a deal. I like the blue anyway so wasn’t too fussed with changing but I managed to get the 600 pound seats thrown in free 😋
Great review, great car and very pleasant presenter. Keep up the good work! My i30n dct in pblue arrives in april/may in germany. Testdrive was just THAT good. Preview car was a 2017 leon cupra 300.
Could you point out some points (pros/cons) while going from the leon to the i30n? How big is the difference regarding the dct? How is the comfort? Is the i30n really as thirsty as everybody is stating? Currently I have to look for a new car and first I was hyped for the Leon Cupra 290 from MY2020, but that's 30 grand. Then there's the I30N that I probably could get with the nice seats and dct for roughly 36k €. Would love to hear from you! Thanks in advance!
@@lexter910 Hi There - difficult for me as by NO WAY an industry expert and have no experience of the LEON! What I do know however is the Hyundai CAN be frugle however like most cars of this kind is also very easy to drive quickly and so most be dont! The DCT has 8 gears so depending on what driving you are doing I cant imagine its worse than anything else in this area... Ultimately it's a hot hatch - if you want economy treat yourself to a diesel! For me I wouldnt even entertain a Seat over the Hyundai (have driven equivalent VW / Audi in spec and pace). Whils tthe Hyundai lacks the badge it makes up for it in character and smiles per miles 😁
@@CarMadDad Hello there! Thanks for your insight! I surely won't get a diesel since if I want one with similar power this will be much more expensive and currently is only available from the "premium" manufacturers. Next week is my appointment for a test drive and I'm really looking forward to! I don't intend to consume 5l/100km with the i30n, since my current car is around 8-9l and I hope to to get similar values or at least staying under 10l :) I checked a website where drivers track their fuel consumption and the value ranges from 8 to 11 liters so it all depends on the driver! I've already driven the GTI8 Clubsport and the Cupra Leon VZ, the power is nice and the pops and bangs too, but there isn't all that much emotion when driving those cars. They are surely solid since the plattform is in development for many many years, especially the ea888 motor, so no wonder why it can be a bit more efficient. But hey, I don't care about 1 or 2 litres if I smile everytime I get in the car, happiness is what I'm looking for! Gonna report if I get a i30N :)
I may have been one of those bemoaning the dct...😂 however I get the appeal for those that want it. What's more sad is the departure of Biermann and the new vision of 'mobility solutions'. It feels as soon as Hyundai/Kia really started to get into making drivers cars, they are changing direction back to soulless transport 😕.
@@BrianJohnson-kh7mg he hasn’t left. He’s still consulting on the Hyundai board. Y’all gotta chill, N division isn’t going anywhere anytime soon. Hyundai mobility solutions is to secure the autonomous division of the company. From a business perspective, it’s to secure the advancements they’ve made towards autonomous mobility. It’s smart. Scala98 needs to get his emotions in check.
Great car, the problem is.. ediff, torque steer.. and price.. one would probably want to consider a RS Megan which uses the perfo hub, similar to dual axis front suspension.. perhaps. ?
Im using the n custom mode with everything on sport except esc and dampers, they are on normal. Ill get around 10l/100km. That little beast is little bit thirsty
yep good car but not as nice as the AMG A35 inside or on wet roads the AMG will leave it behind with its 4wheel drive!!! test driven both and the AMG just handles better and a nice place 2b so think i`m going 4the AMG, just sold my Megane RS Trophy which was a great car but again in the wet u really had 2 back of!!!
Not as nice inside but let’s not forget the premium cost to go alongside the expensive cabin. I like the Merc but for me it’s a-bit to much “point and go” for me at the price point 👍
