I am at the same point as you. Owned it for 4 years now. Did 10 drift days with it. I dont know which car can replace it, im still hooked and very satisfied with it. Thats why i will now not daily it any more and i think, keep it forever. A Cayman is better in corners but worse to drift and everything else despite being more expensive is not as thrilling to drive or too expensive for me.
Im currently looking at getting a suv, im looking around 2017 era cayenne. Also looking at other brands as well. I may be tempted by the v8d with air suspension. But also considering the hybrid but am concerned on the battery life and cost of replacing it.and electric isn’t that much cheaper especially if you’re away from home. But am impressed by the v8d for its performance and mpg is good as well. I’ve owned the older gen cayenne witch was awesome but was a turbo.
Picking up one of these beasts today. 4 year old with 20k miles and 1 owner. I saw one a few years ago on a weekend break where some dude parked it up just as I walked past and turns out he'd just bought it the day before. Spoke to him and had a good look around it. Had wanted one ever since.
It's super capable, a real sense of occasion if you're a Porsche guy, but it lacks drama. I mean if you want a well-rounded daily-able super car, there probably isn't a substitute... But it's some compromise for a daily, unless you have bucket loads of cash of course.
I’m 74, my Model Y Performance fits my needs perfectly. My gf didn’t object to the ride, perhaps because I gifted her with my P85D. Both cars exhibited “phantom braking” with AutoPilot. My doggo hasn’t thrown up in the Y 🐶She did in the S.
I've just brought one of these and although it's a lovely car I've found the accelerator peddle is so high I can't reach it with my heel on the floor.. has anyone else had this problem ? If so how can I remedy it without having to sell it straight back on 😢😢xxxxxxxxxxxxx
@CarMadDad that's the best news thankyou, I'm finding it so hard to drive it's made my ankle swell and everything it's been so painful so thankyou il look into this today ❤️ xxxxxxxxxxxxx
I wish manufacturers would place more emphasis on ride quality. We have a Polestar 2 and although it's not as bad as Teslas offerings, the ride is far from perfect, particularly on 20" wheels. It's a six tenths kind of car, so I just want it to be super comfy. In contrast we've also got a Honda e, and the ride is absolutely superb. It's not wallowy, but it's perfect judged, and as a result it feels sophisticated and as if they've actually spent some money on the suspension.
Who specs a paint to sample Macan S? Great car at the price point but that PTS money is gone with the wind. OK on a special Porsche but this is a few options away from being the service loaner car.
Got a 2024 model y from germany with 19 inch wheels. While the ride is firm, I would not say its unconfortable. I come from a smaller french car. I hear that the suspension was improved, but cant compare. I guess the wheel size will also be a big factor though.
Had an X and a Y biggest problems were auto wipers, random braking while apaptave cruise was engaged when absolutely no-one was around us, the shitty ride quality (although the X was far better than the Y) and the build quality was super bad panel gaps on both and paint run on the drivers door of the Y that should have never passed inspection. The biggest positive was the charging network but that's opening to everyone anyway. Got a BMW IX to replace the X and it's the best car I've ever owned by a mile so far. Rides like butter handles well super comfortable, augmented reality built into the nav, heads up display with mapping, best sound system (bowers and Wilkins) I've heard in a car from the factory in a car. Could not go back to gas after owning an ev, so happy we found the IX.
I hope the newest version is better, I just ordered one and waiting for the delivery day. The priced have reduced a lot here in USA. Looking forward for not using gas anymore. Thank you for this video. Let's see how the Y goes to our family . 🙏
Exactly what I love about the PF MG5. Proper buttons and switches, and a ride a Bentley owner wouldn't sneer at. Just floats over pot holes. Doesn't look like an EV either.
@@truebrit3670Maaybe you have nothing to show, which is worse…I’ll go first 99 Eurovan Camper, 2016 Jeep Wrangler, 2016 P85 D, 2016 981 Spyder, 2024 MY Performance. So I do have something to say.
@@truebrit3670Because I like humbling your lack of knowledge about cars and EVs, life in general. Drive an EV and you won’t look back. Text stupid stuff, win stupid prizes.
I’ve just picked up a 991.2 C4 GTS with PCCBs, very tempting to always look at the best models Porsche are very skilled at subtle changes every year that keep customer continually changing, but for me I think whilst I have an older car, it’s 70K cheaper than the new one, so plenty of $$$ for Premium unleaded😅
Personally I couldn’t live with a Tesla , the interior and the ride quality not to mention the seats which are the only ones on planet earth worse than any Vauxhall have ever made …… my go to first ev from my current hybrid Porsche Cayenne , is going to be the Taycan cross tourismo
I’ve owned Porsches for the past 20 years, my 2016 P85D I gifted to my gf, she loves it. I got a 2024 MY Performance. Shares my garage with a 2016 981 Spyder. Best cars I’ve ever owned.
Great video! Similar car history. Stage 2 OG M2, too a 718 2.5 Boxster GTS, and currently a 981 GT4. Boxster was extremely capable and faster, but not the same excitement or drama of the GT4, not to mention the noise.
Perfect timing as I’m making this very decision. What I’ve also read and it’s logical is that the other difference is 400kg extra of batteries does effect handling and feel a little on the E-hybrid. However, if you have another sports car so this car will be filling the family car space then the hybrid makes a lot of sense with more advantages than disadvantages. Decision made, including air suspension and PDCC for minimal body roll!
Had the money Still buy one Use as it as a nice daily driver Couldn’t care less about depreciation It’s a damm good looking car and if you like nice things you buy them. Now anyone know good lottery numbers?? 😀
Great work on the latest donation CMD. I’m still not there with EV vs ICE but I would say that the choice of good EV cars is definitely improving. A Taycan in Turismo form would be at the top of my list if funds allowed. I still need to sit back and see how the future of cars pan out before moving away from ICE though.
You missed one point having owned the hybrid which is a great car, on long journeys once you have depleted the battery you are operating with 100bhp less!
Yes, so when starting out on long journeys, it’s best to choose the hybrid mode (or sport mode) so you’ll always have the collective power of ICE and E- motors 😉
@@kdcyp You won't because if you do journeys of 2-400 miles like I do the battery will deplete even with regen but you can select e charge to top up the battery whilst moving but then your MPG will drop which defeats the object. I have done 17,000 miles in mine and on long runs you miss the extra push of the 100BHP and the car feels sluggish. The other issue is that if driven mainly on electric Porsche do not advise this as the engine oil can degrade and instead of 20,000 miles between services the need to have an intermediate oil change comes upon you with a cost of £550-600 just for the oil change. I'm changing mine now to a new S Coupe but the eHybrid is still a great car. 😊
@@stephenhinson7410 ok thanks for your extra info based on experience. I thought like a mild hybrid that the battery would always keep a reserve just for heavy acceleration then run on petrol. Fortunately for me I don’t do many long journeys and our Porsche service costs here in Cyprus are more reasonable than UK. However another consideration is that you should ensure you use most of the petrol tank every month or so to avoid todays eco fuel from clogging up the engine so running on elec alone all the time isn’t feasible either. I will use it as a daily driver so should just manage that.
You forgot one aspect of Taycan. The savage depreciation of them? they are almost a meme at this point and i think it will put a load of people off them.
Coming from a mustang v8, i test drove the manual and the auto and it was frightening. I really like the looks and in frozen grey its stunning. Toss up between this or the new Dark Horse Mustang😊
Fiestas were always that engaging.. I found it near impossible to part with my mark 7 ST-3.. only the update in technology pushed me… Now..a Puma ST though!😂👍🏻👌🏻.
The new M2 is suited to a track so like 99% of people who don’t do track days I took delivery of my new M240 2 months ago. I love it. I use it as a daily and let loose a bit at the weekends. It’s playful yet mature kind of like myself. Very nice and honest review. Thanks 👌🇬🇧
@@1101bobada actually I had to take one they had coming through because they had a £2500 finance deposit allowance and the offer would run out before a fresh factory order. That was in February this year. I can tell you this though. My spec was thundernight, comfort pack, technology pack plus. List price £53100. I got the dealer down to £47500ish and BMW put £2500 deposit in for me. Basically got the car for £45k. What a bargain 😊
