Before electric cars, this sort of car would never have had 201hp. Maybe 140hp or something max. I'm so relieved that electric cars are powerful. I was scared of losing that.

not only that, but you can have all of it, full torque at 1km/h.

I think since 15 or 20 years you can buy small cars like Volkswagen Polo GTI, Ford Fiesta ST, Renault Clio RS, and others with 200hp and more. The difference between an EV and an ordinary car with petrol engine is the weight of the car. The Hyundai is about 1750-1800kg because of its 64kWh battery. A Polo GTI weighs more than 500kg less. That's a big difference for acceleration performance. My Golf MK7 GTI has ~6kg/hp. The Kona e ~9kg/hp.

Always impressed at the etiquette of German drivers. People in Canada and the US are incredibly stupid on the roads (Canada especially) you'll have clumps of people tail-gating each other in the right lane, you'll have aggressive drivers in the left lane who tailgate slow drivers, you have slow drivers in the left lane who won't move to the right lane. Everybody is doing dumb and dangerous maneuvers and is obstinate about it. German drivers are polite and matter-of-fact, nobody is prideful. You drive fast until you are no longer the fastest person, then you carefully move over. People who are driving fast calmly wait with a respectable following distance until the slow driver moves over, before proceeding to drive fast. It's a really simple and safe concept that people here can't grasp.
@SuperchargedMagazine
@SuperchargedMagazine 3 года назад
Yeah, I have experienced that driving behavior in the US. Unfortunately, "stupid" is not exclusive to North America. There are plenty of idiots on the Autobahn aswell. The difference is due to the higher speeds, incidents can go south real quick. Story time: I was driving at about 110mph on the left lane and some old guy went from the on-ramp directly onto my lane at about 55mph without checking for traffic. He cut off several people, ended up in my lane, consequently hit me, pushed me into the divider. Had two tires blown and the car was totaled. I was lucky to come out of that unscratched. He then even accused me for causing the accident and filed a police report against me. The judge ruled in my favor though and revoked his license. ;)
@0hypnotoad0
@0hypnotoad0 3 года назад
@@SuperchargedMagazine It's good that they'll revoke licenses though. Here, the idiots who cause accidents like that just get an insurance premium penalty, and then they are allowed to resume being a menace on the roads. Pretty much the only thing that will get your license revoked here is drunk driving or, ironically, "excessive" speeding. The problem with speed limits as I see it here, is that lots and lots of people drive above the speed limit as it is, but nobody is trained or taught how to drive safely at high speeds. In turn, lack of awareness of speeders and drivers around them leads to bad accidents, and thus speeding on highways is illegal and demonized, in sort of a self-perpetuating cycle.
@SuperchargedMagazine
@SuperchargedMagazine 3 года назад
Wow, how stupid. It is a shame that lots of drivers just don't have a basic amount of decency or common sense. It is like Einstein said: " Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity; and I am not sure about the universe" I guess we, the decent lot, will always have to pay the cost of stupidity. 🤷‍♂️
@CRnazir

Dude this is is pretty simply in almost whole Europe people know and try to drive on the Highways keeping most right line, ALWAYS! (the left one is only to pass by other cars and then turn back to the right one)

Nice video, this car is fast , is there any speed limiter on the car at 180km/h ? I guess the prototype is the peugeot 2008
@SuperchargedMagazine
@SuperchargedMagazine 3 года назад
Well, it does not cut off the power abruptly mid acceleration like other cars do at 135 or 140km/h. So I guess there is not much more left after that. Yeah, I also think that its the new Peugeot 2008!
@Gabrieltakesover
@Gabrieltakesover 3 года назад
Nice feature that new rear camera 👍 The car seems fast enough even for autobahn. In other countries it surely is enough for a highway drive. How fast do you consider the future electric cars should be for a normal autonahn drive ?Without considering 240 - 250 km/h range.Thanks
@SuperchargedMagazine
@SuperchargedMagazine 3 года назад
They should be driving at least 180km/h for the Autobahn but I guess that future electric cars handle speeds just like petrol cars do now. I am certain that there will be "speed/acceleration battles" once all major (super)car manufacturers go full electric or hydrogen.

Normal speed on a german Autobahn is 130 km/h. At 160 you overtake every other car. At higher than 180 you have to drive very carefull and watch for slow cars in front of you.

@SuperchargedMagazine 2 года назад
If it claims to be 480km I would subtract 100km for regular daily driving like work commute or city driving. But at top speed I can not see it going much further than 100km. At the moment electric cars are just not built for that high speed driving over long distances

Hey.In the video in left bottom screen it shows instant energy consumption,when the car goes with 175 km/h the comsumption is 28 kw/h so if my math it'ts correct it means that if u have the 64 kw battery version and if u go with 175 km for 2 hours energy consumption is like 28kw x2=56kw and the range is 175km x2=350 km. So instead of 484 km claimed range its just 350 with top speed but it depends on other factors as well like front end wind ,outside temperature or road status downhill or uphill if u put the Ac on or off,how much u use the regen padells to gain energy while driving

If you're charging at home and have a 70% DoD, one of these batteries will last 500,000 km or more. To kill a battery in 200,000km you'd pretty much have to drive it from 100% to 0% all the time and only use DCFC charging.
