Bozidar Biskup how is it working for you, mate? I really wanna get one but I keep hearing it is not worth it. Did not get the chance to test drive it yet, maybe that’s why I am still of the fence about it
An SUV is a utility vehicle is for outdoor sports loving people....hence the term SUV. A essential features of an SUV are .1 high ground.l clearance ..at least 7 inches 2. High torque engine to tackle tough jobs 3. Selectable Four drive system 4. Low range transfer case with a locking differentials. whe The S is not for sporty as in a sports car ....a common misconception. if you want a sporty car, buy something with a low center of gravity.
Bought Honda HRV Top of the range model and literally my neighbor walked up and said I envy your car. Its pretty good! with heating seats, almost perfect mileage what Honda says,Sun/Moon roof and enough boot space. I am happy to have made HRV as the choice of my car.
@Matthew Mcpheron I agree with the quality. I realized this when you have rolled down your windows and close the door when you get out you can actually feel sound of the quality of material used. A high grade quality sound is different from what a low-grade quality or build is.
Yes! We just purchased the Honda HR-V RS and found the ride so smooth and comfortable. I told my husband I was ready for a nice nap. I do agree that the tech needs replacing but overall it’s a classy vehicle.
You got it right. I have a HRV and am completely satisfied. Need Moore storage space under dash. Power with the automatic is just great. Some owners complained about not enough power, but not this owner.
In the U.S., in Feb. 2021, I purchased the HR-V EX AWD. The utility of the interior is excellent! My friends could not believe it when I drove up in this little car, opened the tailgate, and pulled out a 6-foot step ladder. Passing on the highway can get exciting, due to the underpowered 1.8 four-cylinder through its CVT and AWD, but mpg's are about 25 in the city and 30 on the highway. After one year, I'm willing to trade the AWD and sunroof for a power driver's seat with memory and a better stereo. When the Ins. Highway Safety Institute made their side-impact vehicle heavier and faster, the HR-V performed the poorest score in its class. But all things considered, I wouldn't trade this HR-V for any of its same-priced competition. I look forward to many years of reliable transportation with better-than-average resale value.
Oh wow I just bought a 2022 Honda hrv lx and I'm really wishing I bought the ex or other trim since mine doesn't come with the sun roof nor does it have apple car play. I also wish mine had a front and backup camera as well as blind spot monitors.
I don't really consider my Mazda CX-3 to be a small SUV - it's just a bloody good car which is super reliable, looks great, holds its value and has good fuel consumption which, quite frankly, is all I need in a car 👍
@@rutherford5247 happy Kona 2021 owner. enough leg room for two big friends to sit one after another. may be tight at the back of the driver if the driver is also a big man. I dont think you should buy any baby suv if you plan to have 5 people in the car more than once a year or so. me personally dont care for leg room - if they want to go with me they should sit down and be silent :D
I have Hyundai Kona 2019 Acid yellow in Philippines and its fantastic.. smooth to drive..you cant almost hear the engine inside. For me, over all very good.
I agree with his comments. I bought the Honda HRV August 2019, and it does everything, can fit in the prams and other stuff and is so comfortable and nice to drive.
Sounds like I made a good decision. I was choosing between the Kona and the cx-3 for my new car tomorrow. I chose the Kona! =) Now I am watching car reviews for it and it sounds like I made the right choice!
Hello! I know this has been a year but I'm LITERALLY choosing between those two!!!! I just want to know what you bought and why? I'm going to test drive sooner or later this month!
In my opinion, CX3 doesnt even classify as an SUV - more like a glorified hatchback. HR-V is arguably better in most scenarios because of the versatile storage, its a shame its infotainment/interior is so dated and no AWD on offer. Kona seems to be aimed at younger/more adventurous demographic, if you can live with average storage space. Kona is best car here for sure, but if I had 2-3 kids, I would probably go for HR-V.
I have the 2018 Honda RS HRV and I absolutely LOVE it! I came from a Mazda 2 and did test drive a CX-3 as I originally had my sights set on getting that, but have to say once I sat in the Honda HRV and took it for the same hour long test drive that I did the CX-3 I just fell in love with the HRV - by the way for the test drive I too was driving a VT-i. Everything that's said in this test is why I chose the HRV - ie: comfort, size inside, the feel of it whilst driving etc etc. When I went back to actually purchase the vehicle they had a RS model in the showroom and well that's when the Love truly blossomed .. :) The RS model is such a good looking car that you cannot but fall for it....hehe.. Plus the upgrades of Leather Seating, nice18" tyres and the mag's with the piano black trim, to compliment the piano black trim in the body work just kept adding to the love! lol I have the Lunar Silver and with the Piano Black body trim...it rocks! I'll stop here as obviously you can tell I enjoy and like my car just that little bit. So Glad that the Cars Guide guys liked it and voted it the best out of the 3, just confirms that I made the right choice in vehicle.
1958oPaL Hi, I have found your comments interesting. Now you have had the HRV for a few months how have you found the car? The entertainment system and screen have they been user friendly?
Mazda CX3 kodo design is amazing. The driving bring a smile and the remote controls for the screen are brilliant. For the Kona, I hate that the black plastic continu on the front and rear of the car. For the hrv, no thanks.
@@pipahlalah8711 Hey I'm just sold it. Please becarefull about start keyless system my hrv did not working first time i think my remote low battery i changed it but my car still hard to start until finally can not start anymore. I went to Honda dealer they told me it's happen on 2016 HRV and high cost for fix it. I'm so sad because I spend a lot of money for brand new and I hope my car stay with me around 8-10years but not. Please looking other :(
We got a Honda HR-V. We really LOVED our car, but here are the things that didn't work for me. The touch screen was a tad slow, navigation on this was real weird so we basically used our phones to navigate, also, when a song was playing the screen wouldn't tell me the artist or the song, which was annoying. The charging station being underneath the surface was a challenge to plug, but it was a great way to use space, still a liiil annoying. the touch screen for heating, AC and such was also a lil unresponsive sometimes which made it uncomfortable to change while I was driving. There is a gas-economy button, but I didn't notice a difference when this was on or off, it was basically the same. Backseat chairs were comfortable, the only thing that would bother be is the fact that the head rests and forwardly inclined so it feel weird to laid back completely. Also, no ventilation in the back so I had to blast the AC/heater until it reached my guests. It was definitely an upgrade from what we had, so it felt good though, so here are the good things: PROS: MOON ROOF, such a wonderful option to have if you live in hot weather (not so much if you are from the east coast). People really liked the extra air coming in through the top instead of the sides, so this was great. SIDE VIEW SCREEN, so when I signal right, the screen turns on the right side camera and gave me a COMPLETE view for bicycles, bikes or smaller cars (my FAVORITE thing), I just felt so confident merging into my right lane knowing I wasn't going to crash w/ anyone (not available for the left obvi). This car had heating seats which is a PLUS. I love a car with heating seats because I don't need to use the heating system, I just heat my chair and I'm a happy camper. Finally, this car has SPACE. You fit me and around 4 other adults comfortably (usually 5'8, 160 pounds each), it just feels like you have room. you know? so if you have friends or family no one is going to complaint. And all of these perks BUT as cheap as the competition. bam! We decided to end our lease and change a new lease and try the Mazda 2019 cx-30. Which is almost like the Mazda cx-3. I'll update this once I start using it. Hope this helps someone. :)
Honda rules this trio - comfortable and quiet, spacious and practical. Less sporty than the other two but none of these are sporting at all, really. And I found the back seat room in the CX-3 to be a joke. Okay for toddlers. Not okay for teen and adult rear passengers. And the ride was fairly harsh and flinty. I'd place that third behind the pretty darn good effort from Hyundai with the Kona. You're absolutely right about the yester-year graphics and resolution from the Honda nav, though.
Very helpful! Covered all the areas I wanted to know about and actually helped me narrow my search. Definitely going to pas on the Kona but am going to check out the HR-V.
I know this video is based on the 2019s, but I just bought a 2020 Kona SEL Plus AWD. And I can honestly say it is an exceptional vehicle for the price. I am used to driving a 2000 Civic Coupe with fully adjustable suspension upgrades. Kona's drive is much more comfortable and feels pretty close in cornering speeds of my smaller/lighter and very agile Civic. The video mentions suspension of each vehicle and my response is; I enjoy a bit stiffer suspension vs the cloudy unstable feeling of softer suspensions. Also the steering feel is right where it needs to be; I'd rather feel a bit of resistance than have it feel too light. Power delivery is pretty good as well. In normal mode it times it feels a bit slow to react to a hill or after a traffic slow down, but the Kona can easily be sport shifted to account for these moments or a quick double tap of the accelerator to force a downshift. Sport mode feels aggressive and if I were in my 20s, with no kids, I would love driving in this mode all the time. AWD can be locked if needed and has an engine braking feature for driving down hills to avoid overheating your brakes. Gas mileage is around 29mpg combined but for a highway only drive I could see it reaching 32+mpg.(AWD this is pretty good and better than my FWD Civic which was fully rebuilt and well maintained). The interior is pretty bland and plasticky, but feels sturdy and doesn't look terrible at all. SEL Plus has Infinity speakers, a sunroof and heated seats(driver seat is also equipped with electronic adjustment controls) Kona also has all the electronic bells and whistles: Bluetooth, Android Auto(Google Assistant: phone, text, calendar, Maps and music; all at the press of a steering wheel button for voice commands), Hyundai BlueLink( the app features remote: monitoring(includes milage and maintenance recommendations), locking/unlocking, starting/shut off; also on the mirror an SOS button(in case of accident or breakdown) and a BlueLink button to find and schedule an appointment at Hyundai service stations; BlueLink botton can also be used in conjunction with Android Auto to help find POIs using voice commands), Satellite radio, front collision avoidance detection, lane assist, blindspot monitoring, auto dimming rear view mirror and plenty monitoring displays, including attention level monitoring, to choose to look at on the screen between the analog meters. The trunk space is really the only drawback for me but since the vehicle is equipped with roof rails I'm installing a roof basket to allow for more storage on camping trips and when traveling. I also seem to really enjoy the styling of the exterior a bit more than the Honda and Mazda but to each their own on aesthetics. My quirk with this video is the fact that the HR-V won on basically interior space and drive comfort and in reality it gets worse gas mileage, has less power, cost more, and although Honda is known for reliability it doesn't have the warranty that Hyundai provides. After watching the video I was definitely surprised to hear them announce the HR-V as the winner. According to this video; I feel aesthetically the Mazda wins; driving performance the Hyundai; Space/Comfort the Honda. All three are great options but I definitely would do more investing to see which vehicle is the best bang for your buck!
@Greg Nixon lmfao my cousin has a hyundai sonata for years. No fire, no stall. 🤷♀️ if you're lucky and keep up with maintenance. You'll be fine. Just like any other cars. My 2019 CRV stalled on me at 22k miles even after oil changes.
@@roccotaco87 my Lexus Hybrid is 11 with 260000....no warranty needed for a quality car but they give also 10years and i heard 15 for the battery now !
I’ve been wanting a Mazda CX-3 forever. I’m currently driving a 2009 Chevy Cobalt and it’s time for an upgrade, though my car has treated me very well, and I love it very much, I want something bigger for road trips. My Cobalt doesn’t fit a damn thing in it, when you go shopping for just one day in fills the entire trunk and backseats, that’s not even including the luggage, if I have a few suitcases I can forget about shopping. This is why I want to upgrade to a small suv.
I’ve been driving a 2018 CX-3 for 3 years and just picked up a new 2021 lease yesterday. It’s an incredibly fun to drive car. I don’t really agree with everything said in the review here, but I’m in the states and I don’t have kids. With it, you get many standard tech and safetly features that aren’t offered in the other cars, or that you’d have to pay extra for. If you have kids, maybe go for the Honda, but I’ve always thought it was such a boring car. The CX-3 is anything but boring.
I have the HR-V 2020 and I must say, it's so comfy to drive, just a bit lacking on pulling power (coming from Hyundai Accent with Turbo), anyhow, if you want a fun and comfortable drive, this baby is the way to go! Space is a bonus too!
Just bought a new CX-3 has digital speedo ,HUD adaptive cruise all safety features which the others didn't come standard bought it over the Kona because it felt bigger and has a proper auto gearbox
Should review with the seats set the same. The CX3 has the passengers seat set beyond the side window pillar. You're bound too have less leg room if you do this:) Ya its a small SUV but this review is flawed when it comes to the back seat leg room. Yes i figured it out, your reclining in the CX-3 and Kona, but not in the H-RV:)
Personally, Kona is my pic, as I bought one. That suspension claim... what pressure is your tyres? The recommended pressure is 33to 36 psi, but when I bought mine, it was over 40 psi! Reducing the pressure made the ride so much smoother.
It I bought one with AWD and turbo. Dont like it. Too small and very loud road noise. I wanted leather and could only get it with the heads up screen and a sun roof that I never use. A waste of money.
I have an active last thing I wanted was a sunroof or leather seats as it's just me and a large dog. He can see out the windows fine. The plastic is better than fabric on the doors a quick wipe cleans it. Plenty of space if I have passengers as I'm only 5 ft 4. There is a lack of boot space but I have seen worse in larger suvs. The only fault I have found is that at high speed if I lower the rear window at high speed its a must to lower the front ones also or the noise is horrendous. For the price (I did get some extras) I was really happy. To get the same set up in the Mazda (for me Honda was never an option) would have cost me way more also you can add or remove functions you don't want such as land veering assist etc. The two big drawbacks for me with the Mazda apparently it doesn't have lumbar support in the driver's chair and I'm unsure if a full spare fits in the wheel well. Both those things were a must have for me. I have had people in my back seat tell me it's comfy and they are large adults. Also I don't like key less starting or that engine saving mode thing just more things I might have to fix in the future
@@randicollier1367 why if you wanted turbo etc would you buy a small SUV in the first place? Surely for that amount of money you had better options? I got the active and it's perfect for me and my lifestyle but I did my research and test drove it. Also I was set on the Mazda until I drove the Kona
@@dianalatimer5317 because I was under the gun and my lease expiring. Dealer changed hands and was not given many options within my budget. I like being able to jus slide in on yr h we seat instead climbing in like my Sonata that I really miss. I should have just bo ou g Jun t the Sonata even if payment slightly higher. found out that of I had purchased it I would not have had to pay the over mileage. My own fault should have walked away.
HRV is the best. if you do some investigation there are no mechanical issues at all because HRV use honda Civic engine for HRV and they are very reliable. Space in the boot and rear seats space are exceptional. very comfily ride i would say.
You did not get it RIGHT but, Wrong, here is why, though I am a Honda guy mainly due to their reliability and low maintenance cost, However the Kona warranty you never mentioned ? They are super safe and have the best Warranty and have really made vast improvements on all models to be reliable and affordable and super fun to drive as well as dependable and practical ! Hyundai the Kona is by far the best choice for the $$ and the AWD is awesome. The other two models are thousands more for less features !!! Take it from a Honda owner the Kona is Top Notch here !!! We own One and the Kona is awesome !!
Thanks @s.Hibbs Ive been looking at cx3, hrv and skona. I currently have a Honda Jazz and love it. Particularly because of the magic seats, because i have 2 big doggies. But I may want to go a little larger and sit a little higher on the road!!
I think to make the comparison more complete, do consider to include the running cost for each car model, how much to service each car. hope this helps.
My wife went to buy a cx3 mazda and when I found out I could not fit in the back seat and has no boot room we gave it a big miss I mean whats the point of buying a suv when you cant even use it as one Any way my wife got the honda im realy amazed at how they get all that room out of it
I love my CX3, it looks and feels very luxury compared to the others when I test drove them. Honda feels basic and Hyundai is just not what I was looking for
Just bought an HR V 4WD. The one thing I did not like about it is the sound it produces when you accelerate in the HWY. Not sure if it is a CVT engine or the cheap insulations. However, I am loving it otherwise.
Disappointing you didn't review the Kona with the 1.6L Turbo that you can get in the whole range. I test drove a few Kona's recently and that engine makes it super fun to drive.
666Sinn exactly my thought my Kona Ultimate is awesome !my 1.6L turbo is amazing!it takes off like a little rocket,I love mine, suspension is nice, the ride is nice and quiet
I cannot see a handbrake handle in this vid on the Honda or Mazda, FORTUNATELY YOU GET A HANDBRAKE HANDLE ON THE KONA, not that crappy cost saving abomination, the "Electric Park Brake". a problem in waiting.
john brown definitely is Mazda has a TSB for those POS systems. Burns rear pads in 20k most people don’t go to the dealership and figure they rear pads are good for 60k. WAY WRONG and must replace pads and rotors in a little over a year.
@@meanodustino9563 Just park your car nose into the garage wall, get a flat battery and try and get to lift the hood, no room to get in to charge it, cant jack up the rear to move it back cos it's locked in park.great if you have the tow package, friend charged his through the trailer plug at rear.
Test drove all three and then some. About the only ones in this segment I didn't look at were the Jeep Renegade because I simply didn't want anything to do with a Fiat and the Buick Encore because I wanted the import reliability, longevity and resale value. I must say I found the Mazda CX3 more quiet on the freeway than the Hyundai Kona. I also found the CX3 to handle better than either. The Honda just didn't do anything for me. The Hyundai was a contender but I ended up buying, actually leasing, the Mazda CX3. Never purchase/finance a new vehicle. Lease it! You'll save a bunch of money in interest. Run the term of the lease and then finance the balance. Kids, passengers and cargo are not a factor. If I need a larger vehicle I have a Toyota Tacoma for that. If the new Toyota C-HR came in AWD I definitely would have looked at it as I'm partial to the brand. The CX3 is a nice little vehicle and is a bad azz is the snow and ice even with the all season tires it came with. As long as ground clearance isn't an issue it will run circles around my Tacoma in the snow. So, if you're looking for a little gas sipping, AWD commuter car that's superior in the snow and really a joy a drive that won't break the bank then look no further than the Mazda CX3.
Have a 2018 Kona Limited since Oct 18 as a lease. Was considering a 2022 Tuscon upgrade. But as aging adult the Kona is perfect. It turbo is peppey and easy parking, enough trunk for groceries. Cleaning roof of snow in winter is doable. Will update to the 2022 when my lease ends this Oct of 2021. I ♡ Kona!
I recently bought a 2017 CX-3 FWD Touring with 70k miles on it and the suspension feels very tight and sporty, not sloppy and loose like he said the one he was driving is. But mine also came with standard 18 inch wheels, which may have helped make a firmer ride.
I just bought the Mazda crx3 2018 with 30k miles on it and I love it came with the leather heated seats and a Bose sound system with an amp and subwoofer great car got it for 14k
So long as you don't wont any people to fit in it or carry any luggage It defeats the purpose of being a suv I know there fun to drive but so is a mazda 3 and with a lot more room
Hyundai Kona has proximity keyless entry. I never have to take the key out of my pocket. As for luggage space, if you need more than what the Kona offers then it's time to lose some baggage.
Hyundai and Mazda messed up royally with their greedy inclusion of certain vehicle functions as a paid subscription service. Add insult to injury the apps they use are slow, buggy, and just plain unreliable. I'll stick with the Honda. They have remote start on EX level and up on most of their vehicles and it can easily be added to the HR-V aftermarket using the OEM fob. No one should have to take out their phone and fumble with a poorly designed app that can't even eek out a 3-star rating just to use remote start. Hyundai and Mazda greed is a serious turn off.
In my opinion, a bias Honda HRV owner, you got it right. It's practical and it simply gets the job done for me and my 290lbs cargo = 2 female French mastiffs and from time to time 4 additional adults passengers when I am carpooling. Comment I get all the time... wow! This car is more spacious than I thought . 😉 it's a winner and a crowd pleasure. #💛myhondahrv
