You mightn't think of the 2023 Hyundai Santa Fe as a small SUV, but it's the most compact seven-seater the brand offers in Australia.
Need bigger? Or more seats? The Staria people-mover or Palisade large SUV will be a better bet, but if you're interested in something a little more compact, easier to park, and one that might be better used as a five-seat SUV with two bonus chairs in the back row, the Santa Fe could be for you.
Family reviewer, Emily Agar, has spent some time in the top-spec Highlander turbo-diesel AWD model, which isn't cheap - but has plenty of really plush inclusions and lots of technology and standard equipment to make it feel worth the money.
In this review, she covers off the pricing and specs, driving experience, design highlights, interior space and practicality, and real-world fuel consumption figures.

I have owned a Santa Fe Highlander since Feb '22. It's simply the best car I've ever owned, and I've owned 2020 Mod V8 Mustangs, Land cruiser Prado's etc etc. A few things I certainly don't agree with your 'review' - and no, I'm not associated with Hyundai in any way. Wind noise? Nope - not at all - I think your kid must have had the window down, as that's never ever been a problem - or even noticeable for me & my wife. Did you have the sunroof open and then make that judgement? 7.2 Ltrs/100kms ! Wow! You must be a led foot! I drive city & suburbs, and rarely ever exceed 6.5 ltrs/100. !! Sluggish between 1st & second gear? Huh? Somethings very 'wrong' with the Santa Fe you drove - not a problem with mine, and my last car was a new model V8 Mustang. (I know the 'Highlander' does not accelerate as a Mustang can - but it's impressive - but never ever 'sluggish'. You said you wished 'The ride' was better? - I think that's an extremely unfair comment - are you biased in any way? For those that don't know - KIA is owned by Hyundai - Hyundai is the 'Parent company'. Hyundai gets the good gear first.

Isn’t that like every review? The other ones just don’t make that obvious but the basic choice of what stats to present implies the feeling of the reviewer

Ive driven the Toyota highlander and it was sluggish in the open road although very smooth for city drive. The Santa Fe has a more luxurious looks from the inside and the driving experience compared to highlander.

Hard to dislike the Santa Fe. It's non-offensive and a good family SUV. I do think there's a touch of vanilla about it though, the interior/infotainment could do with something a bit more exciting. I'd prefer the Sorrento GT to this.
