I wanted to make this video to show how the Hyundai Sonata with Open Pilot perform in local traffic scenarios.
Compare to this video of the stock system : • Hyundai Sonata SEL Dri...
TLDR : most of the time it gets it right and it's only going to get better because unlike stock driver assist functions, this one will continue to get updates.
In case I forgot to mention it during the video, this is the 2020 Sonata SEL.

Very nice! I ran OP and a Raspberry Pi variant for about 18 months on my Accord. I've since replaced the Accord but I still have a Sonata that needs to be updated. Videos like yours really helps tell the story about what the Comma Two and OpenPilot can do on the 2020+ Sonata. Thanks for putting it out there.

Just bought a 2021 Sonata and I can say the stock setup needs some help. I’m not sure I see myself investing over $1,000 to make a marginal improvement but if open pilot can become a large improvement it may be worthwhile. Appreciate your videos and opinions, keep them coming.

Would love to see an update on this. Especially if you have removed the 90 degree turn limit.

I have a sonata 2021 limited. I love the feature but I feel like on turns it acts crazy sometimes unless the lines are painted perfect. I saw a video on Facebook with one guy driving while in the passenger seat. Btw the turn at 7:20 basically conformed how it is lol

Roads in northern Indiana, Michigan and northern Ohio are abused by the freeze thaw cycles in the winter. A freshly paved road can be destroyed within 2-3 years easily. Concrete is the only viable long term solution but cost is a real issue. Also once concrete is cracked it’s difficult to repair.

@@WildHorsesOfCourse yeah, I noticed. I'm in Pennsylvania so I'm in that realm of climate too. Constant road work in this state, seems like it's never over. Sucks. :/ bunch of 2 lane highways too. So whenever they do bother to smooth it out, we're stuck in traffic for days because 9 times out of 10 they won't do it at night, which I don't understand. It's cooler and safer, by smaller volume of cars breezing by at 70mph... to work at night with bright spotlights and insect repellent. Concrete isn't as good for performance either I would think? I imagine the grip our tires get on tarmac is far superior
