Hyundai Sonata SEL Driver Assist Demonstration

I wanted to make this video to show how the Hyundai Sonata driver assist functions perform in local traffic scenarios.
TLDR : sometimes it's great and other times it's not. Well-marked lanes with slow curves perform very well. Any kind of turn where the lane markers are faded or the turn requires a little bit of effort and the Sonata just gives up.
Other notes : Lane Keeping Assist is turned off during this drive. The two features used are Smart Cruise Control (the first two button pushes) and Lane Follow Assist (the steering wheel). In case I forgot to mention it during the video, this is the 2020 Sonata SEL.
Please forgive camera placement, the narration and the smart cruise could have been set up better on the dash - this is my first time making a RU-vid video.

The Lane Follow Assist (LFA) combined with adaptive cruise control makes long distance freeway trips totally relaxing. I just bought a '21 Sonata SEL a month ago. This car has so many advanced features it leaves me in awe. And it gets 40mpg at 70mph.

The nice thing about having the limited and the headsup display, I never have to take my eyes off the road and I can still tell if the steering is on or off. Also shows my if someone is in my blindspot. For the money it is absolutely amazing!!! I love all of the safety features especially since I'm not a great driver.

Also one of my favorites. When I’m on the highway I honestly don’t use my mirrors oops but when you have a camera in front of your face there’s no need. Obviously not when merging or high traffic. It’s very nice

My Sonata Hybrid Limited is probably the best car I have ever owned (since 1951!). In windy, level, Corpus Christi I am getting around 42-43 mpg. I love it.

Hyundai's lane following is impressive. Not many competitor systems can do it from a dead stop or without a car in front.

Your point about coming to a stopped traffic is why I looked up for this video. It works well in every other situation but that. I always end up stepping on the break myself

You might want to set your following distance. That will definitely help with slowing the car down into the stop.

Thanks, watched this before I purchased my 2021 Sonata, I was able to use the self driving features on the way home from the deal and knew what watch out for.

when I rented the Elentra, I noticed how well it tracked the lane. It was much better than the 2018 version sonata. I did hear alarm when it lost lane. You many have to change a setting.

I will say one thing this is more of their base Lane keep and navigation follow if you get the tech package in the SEL plus or the limited they have actual active highway assist and it’s much better than on the lower cars

At the end when you were trying to have the car drive itself around curves the road was tar patched. I couldn't see any yelllow painted lines

When I leased my 2022 sonata I was not told about these assist features. The service or sales people are not taught how it works. Basically it is not quite self driving but it assists you.

The one in the video is not a limited, you can tell by the smaller infotainment display.

I have the se and I just found this feature I didn’t have it on cruise I just pressed it and it started what I did was I press the steering and the stay in your line button and it was driving by its self lol

It's actually safer than a standard car with no safety features. But it seems a little nerve-racking until you get used to your car doing things you didn't input.

It's really not dangerous unless, like this video, you try to treat it like a self-driving car. For example the the driver complains that the car stops automatically to close to the car in front. The car is stopping automatically to avoid a collision, not to save the driver the trouble of paying attention and applying the brakes at the proper time. Same with steering - at one point the driver says, "The steering is not functioning, so I am steering." - ridiculous.
