John is back! I thought you left after your two month long hiatus. Also a quick thing mate, the venue doesn’t have a highlander spec, the highest this goes is the elite model. Small thing but I thought I’d point it out, apart from that I was a fan of the review.
The venue is awesome, we got one a few months ago and we absolutely love it. Great for city and suburban driving, good on highways too. Looks great also
Love the Venue, great small SUV to drive, compared to the KIA Stonic and Nissan Juke I drove side by side. Only just to correct you, there isn’t a Highlander model, only Venue, Active, and Elite being the top spec. Thanks for the review.
Buy a second hand accent instead. It's bigger, more powerful, has better boot space, rides better and uses less fuel. Or stretch the budget a grand or so more and get an i30. Hyundai really dropped the ball with the Venue.
I don't know what it is with motoring journalists fascination with small turbo charged engines. For a start, they only run on premium fuel (20 cents per litre more than regular) and the small motor is always working hard to get that extra power. Give me the standard 1.6 litre motor with standard and basic and reliable auto please.
I agree, you don’t really need too much torque if you’re only using it for urban daily commutes. They only just make cars look good on paper. If someone really needs more torque in their car, they are better off with a larger displacement, naturally aspirated engine.
We like you reviews, very detailed and helpful. Especially as for the point of accessibility needs for the above-average or under-average tall people. This is how is done properly. Do you have a one on the Suzuki Jimny 2023 yet ? Anyways, we just subscribed, keep'em coming, mate :).
Yeah the eng may be old tech nothing fancy with proper TC auto you'll find that will go forever which the same can't be said about low compacity turbo with a dct
Very underwhelming car. And why do reviewers overlook the important issue of whether or not the vehicle has some form of spare wheel? With this one, for a split second, we saw a spare wheel well but nothing was said. So does it have a spare wheel? If not, more minus points from me.
I hear you Jai! I drive the current model Mazda MX-5 (no spare wheel) and have been caught out a couple of times. I now have a second set of factory rims/tyres on standby for it. I will only purchase a new (electric) vehicle with at least a space saver tyre, but I'm not very hopeful...
Maybe the revs to get rolling are more to do with the CVT transmission rather than the engine itself. I had the same 1.6 in an Accent and it was fine, pre CVT's.
wow a manual handbrake & no push button start come on its 2021 Hyundai! seriously My 2013 CX-5 has Push button start & electronic handbrake and that's an 8 year old car.
