I absolutely love this man. I met him in Brighton once. An absolute gentleman. We sat and talked for 20 minutes. Me him and my girlfriend. And I can say I’ve never met such an interesting, kind and sweet man. So generous. A true gentleman.
I met him in Brighton too. It was four o'clock in the morning I was tripping balls after taking a dodgy pill and I was hanging upside down from the pier thinking I was the lovechild of a Desmodus Rotundus (that's a Vampire Bat for those of you who didn't listen at school) and Noel Edmonds in his House Party phase. My girlfriend was throwing washed up algae in my face whilst shouting "Surprise Surprise " and "We're gonna have a lorra lorra laughs" (in hindsight this annoys me as those are in fact Cilla Black quotes and don't really correspond with the experience I was having. "Deal or No Deal" or "Blobby Blobby Blobby" would have been much more apt and would make this somewhat contentious and surreal anecdote more coherent). Anyway, Snr walked past and shook my hand, he was an absolute gentleman, and super strong.
My favourite boxer ever - bumped into him once outside Harrods in Knightsbridge. It was pissing down with rain and we asked if he wouldn’t mind taking a photo with us. He had a lady with him and told us he was just going to get her into a taxi first then he would be straight back. Id have put money on him just getting into the taxi as well and then buggering off as it really was bucketing it down heavy - but he didn’t. He saw the lady into the taxi further down the road then walked back through the rain and had a photo taken with us and a quick chat. I’ll never forget that. Proper gentleman in every sense.
Chris Eubank....is one hell of a man. If I stay in the sun...I'll get a tan. Eat some fiber…eat some bran. Went to hospital...got a scan. Love this dude...I'm a fan. You think you can't...I think you can. Here's a group...here's a clan. Have some paint...It's in this can. Eat this leg...this leg of lamb. Drive this car...drive this van. Chris Eubank...is one hell of a man.
Absolute sporting legend. It’s sad that some people try to ridicule him. What he’s given to entertain people and what he has to live with seeing people he’s fought suffer life altering injuries is unthinkable. He’s lived the best and seen the worst of boxing.
He never finished a fighter after Michael Watson, he had Collins gone on the ropes and Chris let him recover , its a noble thing to be in a sport where your job is to knock your opponent out , or put a beating on him to stop the fight, sadly after what happened , and Chris blames himself, he just couldn't finish off a fighter. He would have beat Collins as well , yet rather than risk Collins life he eventually lost on points. That's a noble man. There is also another fight , I cant remember the opponent, but Chris has them on the ropes , and he hits then beckons the ref to end the fight so he doesn't have to hit his opponent anymore. The guy is a class act , treated badly by the press.
Every time I watch Chris I smile. I remember one time I had a wee in the bush in Brighton one evening. When I came out he was standing with my Mrs. He said "never leave your woman unattended at night". He was right, so right.
Everytime I watch this man, I feel so hard done when the interview ends or when he stops speaking. He is so captivating, full of wisdom and a true model of excellence. Thank yoo for bringing him on, Simon.
What a role model for kids. As a youngster I hated him, I was a big Nigel Benn fan. I have nothing but admiration for Eubank SNR now, speaks the truth and stands by it
Yep I was the same , I swallowed the boxing press , that Eubank was the "baddie" and Benn was our British soldier , im still a fan of Benn as well , but the more i got to see of Eubank the more I liked him and became a massive fan in the 90s. They are different sides of the same coin , almost the same but different enough to opposites. I hope they still talk and are friends
What a brilliant interview. The best one on this podcast so far. Great to see Chris looking better and back to himself. There's not many people, especially fighters who can beat Simon in the brain department. Boxing really needs characters like this again. Amazing man!
Nothing against Chris. One of the greatest British sportsmen ever. But I have to disagree about this being the best episode so far, for me the worst. Philosophical jibber jabber all the way through. Not answering the questions.
I don't see how he beat Simon in the brains department, he stumbled over his words quite often, causing him to then try and turn it into some sort of philosophy in order for it to not sound daft.
Excellent Interview Simon and all credit to Chris. The man has gone through so much pain and sadness in his life and all i see is a father trying to look out for his son based on his knowledge and experiences he has gone through
Makes a lot of sense when you consider his brothers died because of boxing plus him putting Watson in a coma, then losing a son and now witnessing everyone try to exploit his son to fight Benn all for money
Simon knows what Chris has done for him ,,I think he was setting Chris up to tell us, had he asked it in a normal way Chris might have been too humble to tell us, he asked it in a challenging way as he knows Chris will want to put Simon right. However yes , Simon shat himself 😂😂 I think he realised that might have sounded like it was treating Chris badly rather than the challenge to get Chris to reveal..
I see much love and respect for Chris Eubank, and I can only echo these sentiments. I was around 10 years old when my family and I bumped into Chris in Brighton and wow what a genuine gentleman who had all the time in the world for us that honestly made our day as we did and still do absolutely admire his body of work and what he stands for. He's an incredible man.
@@NOBODY-cn6fj check out an interview with Barry hearn a few years ago about the list of conditions he gave hearn on which fighters he would never fight 🤣
For years we all ridiculed his appearance, conduct and all that he said. So much of what he says has relevance to us as a society and makes perfect sense. An absolute legend of a human being and fighter.
One of the best interviews I've watched, so many ex boxers are desperate to get into commentary that they are scared to go against the promoters, chris speaks the truth in everything he says
1:09:10 "I am responsible for the intention of my words, not responsible for your interpritation of it" man SJ thats a straight KO! This was actually incredibly joyful to watch, begging to end. Both of you are absolute characters and incredibly intellectual. Please have Eubank on more, i feel that mans got so much more to give.
People ridicule this man. Hes an absolute warrior. Loved both him and benn. My era of fighting. He was never the same after watson. You can see 30 years on, that haunts him. Hes lost a son... hes vulnerable and hes unbelievably brave to speak like this. To be vulnerable makes him even stronger to me. ❤
This man is a legend!! An absolute warrior in the ring but more importantly a real gentleman who has stayed true to himself throughout his life. All the respect in the world for you Chris
Whatever you may think of his posturing and posing this man had an iron jaw and immense heart. His fight with Carl Thompson was one of the gutsiest things I've ever seen in a boxing ring.
Was Thompson the only man to stop him ? I remember it was the 11th I think , Chris's eye was essentially closed and swollen , he couldn't see. I remember it being cruiserweight which was Thompsons nature weight and was so much bigger than Eubank, as you say Eubanks heart, his pride and jaw meant he took a beating and was still there , only his eye stopped the fight. I would say he is probably the hardest fighter in boxing ever , that man was made of granite. There should be a statue of him in Brighton , he is a legend , and a noble man.
Chris made believers out of everyone and those that grew up watching him know how formidable a fighter he was. He is one of the greatest british fighters that ever lived.
I remember watching the Watson two fight live. When he went down everyone thought he was done. To get up and find that upper cut was something really special. It's a shame because his career at the very top ended that night because he lost that killer instinct. I also remember him putting Steve Collins down in a fight he was losing then him letting him off the hook when he got back to his feet because he didn't want to hurt him. Eubank pre Watson would have finished Collins off that night
Your delivery of these questions is of a high class, Simon, I would love to see Caleb Plant on here. Also, your 'blunt' or rather straight to the point questions will merge well for the American audience it will attract. You have extreme potential for this podcast to surge in views.
What Chris and Ben went through , did and achieved in that era is unbelievable I grew up , now 49 seeing these guys journey it’s been a privilege thank you guys ❤🇬🇧👊🏾
Class all the way ,as usual from Chris. An absolute warrior in the ring, and a yardstick for men outside of it. Epitome of what a man is supposed to be. Takes ownership for everything, doesn't duck anything. If only we had more people like this in today's world,we'd all be better off.
The fact that Eubank still draws views on social media all these years after he retired from boxing shows the impact that he had on the British sports conscience in his heyday. The man is box office a true showman.
Chris Eubank is a true eccentric in all the best meanings of that word. Never boring, always interesting and entertaining and always committed to presenting himself to the world in the best way possible and it's always his way, not anyone elses way. There's a lot to respect in all that, especially these days.
One of the best Eubank interviews I've seen. Unfortunately, this man and the importance of his message and knowledge will only be truly understood and appreciated when he's gone.
Senior is not odd or unwell. He just operates on a different frequency than most of us. He is one unique guy and is finally getting the respect and love he deserves. Unlike the maggots that try to use his mental health as an argument to ignore what he is saying about their love of money, greed and lack of morals. If I could click like 10 times I would. Today I heard news that was great for boxing. I like to think that this interview was the reason the Eubank/Benn fighter is not going ahead. Well done Chris & Simon!
Simon Jordan “I’m responsible for the intention of my words, not responsible for your interpretation of it”. Absolute class. I one day hope to think of this come back quick enough. It’s at 1:09:10 if you want to listen back
Very respectful interview Simon,of which many do not do with Chris, which he does not always see and is taken advantage of…he speaks from the heart and has a refreshing honesty.respect to you both…
Thank you for this, I know you probably filmed this already but it fills me with joy nonetheless to partake in this interview: which definitely delivers in cutting through the nonsense of such things of endless praise and or biased retail of one's history.
It’s remarkable to see someone be the most authentic version of themself. Chris is an icon of humanity. But I feel a lot of his wise words will be lost on the young and naive who so desperately need it.
@@ORIGINOLINDIVIDUAL I remember it as it goes and I'm not a fan of Aston Villa. This was a good joke and most people 40+ who like football will likely understand it.
Love Chris Eubank pulling him up on the Liam Smith question. It absolutely is a clickbait question. Whether Simon tried to qualify it, he lives in the world of clickbait.
This was a fascinating and insightful interview with Chris Eubank Sr, in addition to being educational and engaging. This man is a British boxing legend who fought in the golden age of British middle and super middleweights, whose peers were Benn, Watson, and Collins - what boxing entertainment they gave us. Thoroughly enjoyed the discussion, thanks for uploading.
I do wish this man was fighting in this era. He would be the face of boxing. The boxing skills, the charisma, the heart. He can talk the talk but he could also walk the walk. Legendary.
Really?? 2x steve Collins. 2x Thompson. Watson lucky!!. 2nd fight with benn! Draw. Cazagi. Lost lost lost.lost lost lost lost Never fighted roy. Hopkins.toney. So.how is he a legend
Chris and his silence near the end can be interpreted in many ways, but it was wonderful that, despite it seeming that had different views, they let each other speak without interruption, and, listened to each other.A brilliant and absorbing interview. 👏
You could tell Simon would go back on this interview and try and work out how did the vibe change all of a sudden and work on that cause love rules all
Sir Chris Eubank Sr is a steppin razor (sharply dressed). That's right I called him Sir Chris Eubank.. Knight him King Charles! Great interview. Both men did brilliantly.
Epic guy. Epic interview. Honesty spoken from the heart, both guys. Keep doing what you're doing. Pleasure to hear some truths and principles and inside knowledge from Eubank Snr. The way he turns and speaks to the camera directly reminded me of his role model, the Queen herself.
You have to respect Chris’s dedication, whenever the camera is on he performs his gimmick perfectly. He consistently contradicts himself, but his dedication is brilliant.
I used to fight the bullys. Never put up with it. I got suspended 16 times in school. Then 5 years in jail full of fighting and Im here today with a great life. Hard work is what it takes. Determination to change your ways. Never stop fighting for what you want in life. Gladly I dont fight anyone anymore.
Good to hear his words on masculinity. We’re constantly being told about the negative side of masculinity, we need more on the positive side otherwise we’ll be faced with a generation misguided men
Chris sir that was absolutely superb by far the best pod which simon has done also, the substance you both have is fantastic to listen to,a real treat of a conversation
Absolutely fascinating interview hooked from the first minute I'm a fan of Simon Jordon and Chris Eubank Senior the two together was stunning! Made me think a lot about things and was inspiring as well! Absolute quality content! Would LOVE to see a part 2 of this respect to both gentlemen
The man, the legend, the myth, the enigmatic, the courageous, the warrior, the Lord of the English manor. The distinguished gentleman, simply the best Mr Christopher 'English' Eubank.
Thankyou Chris, that was incredibly inspirational to me. It's so refreshing to hear somebody else be that honest 🙏❤️ Thankyou again, peace and love from Gloucester ❤️
The only guest yet who has Simon on the back foot and completely speechless at times 😂 As Simon says at the start, Eubank is an enigma wrapped in a riddle
What a gent Chris is and what a fighter he was like he says people think he’s an odd ball well this is a sign of the times in the world we live in now ..if your a gentleman your classed as a odd ball …how sad ..what a warrior and a true gentleman this man is .👍👍👍
Simon Jordan is probably the best interviewer around. Only he could keep Eubank Sr on track for a whole interview. He really brought the best out of him.
Masterclass of an Interview. Hearn used the cheapest shot in the book to say Senior had Mental Health Problems to try and protect their fight. Well done to Jordan for not backing down on that point!!!
Without being disrespectful as Senior is a living legend, i think he'd be the first to admit that at that point in time, his head was clearly all over the place (and understandably so!). It didn't seem like it was an insult when Hearn said what he said, it seemed more out of a place of care in that interviewees shouldn't be exploiting someone who's very clearly in a vulnerable place. At the tome they were trying to make Benn vs Eubank at 160lbs, they went on to make Eubank vs Smith at 160lbs, wheres the injustice?
The superiority complex of Jordan and his arrogance were growing as Eubank continued graciously whilst Jordan even ventured to insult him and his son. Kudos Chris. Jordan classless ,clueless ,tactless.
