Brother you're doing the right thing. I live there before and I didn't come with the proper expectations but now that I see things a different way I plan to go back as soon as I get my business up and running but I plan to also leave and never come back to the U.S. it looks like you are in a major city what I would say is that it's much cheaper if you go to a small local market like a sari-sari store but it looks like you're at a major grocery chain so it's definitely going to be on par with American prices when it comes to grocery stores in fortunately
@wanderingtin

I was going to recommend local mini stores or super markets. The ones at the malls are definitely more expensive!

I am assuming your partner is Filipina. If she is, she should teach you how to save money. 😊✌️ 2400 usd is insane. You must be living the high end. Frugality is a trait here. Obviously you haven’t immerse yourself much. 1month stay is too early for this review. Enjoy the country though. 😘❤

@@TheyCalledMeT I’m sorry lol you might get charged the skin tax no might about it no matter where you go in the Philippines you’re going to pay a lot more for things sometimes double or triple that’s one thing needs to stop. To think people who can afford things in life should pay more is crazy that’s like saying Elon Musk should pay 100$ for a Big Mac meal because he’s a billionaire the Filipino mentality is you’re a foreigner and should pay more because you can afford it. Noooooo that’s a bad way to look at people especially people who come to your country to support it and spend their money here.

@@MangoKashInThePhilippines it disincentivises to strife for success which is .. i think one of the major hold backs .. you make money .. good now support your entire family .. while they stop working. it keeps everyone on the bare minimum and never produces surplus which could elevate the entirety of the country

I could live on shrimp and/or pork pancit. Prefer Canton but have no problem with Bihon. I occasionally like to stay in Rockwell, Makati, but have spent months in low cost Pampanga, Olongapo, Lapu Lapu, and Baguio. You are so sensible. Please stay away from other PI vloggers who are black. When things go wrong with them, they do the default racism shtick. Not all, but many. People around the world are so done with the default. Racism exists everywhere in the world, but mostly to those that look for it. Love your demeanor. Keep going brother.

Hi I appreciate the comment & constructive criticism …. this is also a very friendly & respectful response. It was my intention to make this a talking head style video with some vlog elements (so regardless of the locations that was the original goal) I’m very aware that I could add Broll etc.. this is the first long form video I’ve made on this channel so the content can evolve over time.. I believe it’s better to start now and make each video better than the next… In the meantime you’re more than welcome to watch another content creator that makes videos that are more in line with how you want them made …

Shopping in a Western store where everything is imported and decrying "it is not cheap". Well, duh.. Shop the economy and the food is what they eat. I'm sorry but you sound entitled and boujie
@pinoyfloyd
@pinoyfloyd 2 дня назад
I can understand how you’d make an assumption like that based on the type of grocery store that segment was filmed in. I shop at a multitude of places… it doesn’t disqualify my point that the Philippines is not as cheap as everyone says it is. There are certain economic factors that would dictate that ie inflation Guess I’ll have to film at the wet markets/markets I go to next time 😂

philippines is NOT CHEAP! gas is about $4-$5/gal; internet is no joke; utilities - electricity, water, etc. - is out of this world; 'grocery store items, package food, canned goods & bottled drinks' (western food) are pricey than the US. resto food is also pricey! BUT....cheap happens when: if you want to indulge in fresh produce, vegetables, fruits, fish and poultry meats, GO TO A WET MARKET and cook it yourself. or get a girlfriend/boyfriend to cook it for you.
@arnieljovero1008
@arnieljovero1008 6 дней назад
I think you are very particular too and weird in your choices. That is wrong in the US, a lot of the restaurant diners are soo picky. Furthermore i have been to 44 countries and restaurants are always hit and miss, unless you go to a michelin starred restaurant. If you stay long term you might find your favourite restaurant. Not for a month. Furthermore 2400 a month is not enough? Something does not add up.

Bro 50 Kphp /monthly living in metro Manila is good I gues for 1 person ! But also enough if you are in the provinces( Davao dumaguete Bicol bohol etc!. 2400$/monthly expenses maybe you are 2 ( with your gf?)1500$ alone can live comfortably in Manila or less if you are frugal and minimalist !anyway enjoy the city vibes Floyd !

On my channel I talk about the things that I’m experiencing in the Philippines (as I experienced them) … Therefore, my videos are reflection of that… So I wouldn’t be the best to talk about poverty and corruption, as I’ve only been here for a month… But you’re more than welcome to make your own videos about those topics. Even in this video he's not only seeing the good. It's actually rather critical. And from all I have experienced in 10 months, he's right about what he's talking about. And open-minded as he is, I believe he can make it here! By the way, I don't recommend to openly talk about corruption. As for the comments: first of all you have to sort by "newest first" - I have no idea why YT doesn't show some (or sometimes many) comments if you sort by "top comments", but it does. Secondly, YT sometimes holds comments for review. They have to be made public by the channel owner, but we never really think about it, so sometimes comments may get lost without intention.
