I've visited all 50 states at 44 years old and have been fortunate enough to have driven most of the Interstate network. Thank you for doing these videos. I love seeing how roads I drove in the past years look today. The Interstate system is a feat of engineering. Next we need a better than China/Switzerland style high speed rail network to take most of the load off these highways.

This was the same area that was ravaged by the tornadoes from the 2011 Super Outbreak.. that's a memory I'll never forget when I was watching the live severe weather coverage on The Weather Channel that day on April 27, 2011

I live on east coast of Florida. But I remember the 2011 Super Outbreak. While I wasn’t born when the 1974 Super Outbreak happened. I didn’t think we would see another outbreak like 1974 again. Man was I wrong. -Lifelong Cocoa, FL resident

@@ace20016Birmingham and Tuscaloosa both came a long way since the tornadoes 🌪️ .. I was 16 at the time when this whole outbreak unfolded and they let out school early in Knoxville, TN that day due to the storms coming in and then hearing tornado warnings going off all day and night long, and then seeing the very large hail storms dropping timeless goofball to baseball size hail before the tornadoes hit

Also... Through the Fairfield and Bessemer areas I-20 needs to be six lanes. It literally becomes six lanes again right after the I-459 interchange and stays that way to Tuscaloosa if I remember right. The whole stretch from Tuscaloosa to the Georgia state line should be six lanes. I-20 should be six lanes anywhere there is a decent population. Since it's the main ground route between Atlanta and Dallas.

About 12:15 is where you jump onto the new viaduct. It was completely redone just a few years ago. They even turned the underneath area into a super clean, well lit, even decoratively lit, walking and cycling park type area. And it goes by Protective Field and Legacy Arena. Both of which I've been in. Ha ha.

29:19 is where the proposed I-422 is to break off the north and connect to I-22 near Graysville. Will I-422 ever come to fruition?
@SuperSirianRigel
@SuperSirianRigel 3 месяца назад
6:55 For years I've always wondered why they've never widened this section. It doesn't make sense to me that the I-20 is wide for awhile; then narrows back down for a bit, and then widens again. I've heard several times that the whole stretch will be six-lanes. Maybe even all the way to the Georgia state line. I wonder if they will ever get around to doing it?
@PelicanGuy
@PelicanGuy 3 месяца назад
I agree. It drives me nuts that that stretch isn't six lanes. I'm sure that's a choke point during the morning rush.

If a road getting new additional lanes too soon actually makes more traffic
@duncanmcauley7932
@duncanmcauley7932 3 месяца назад
@@alexthemtaandr211weatherfa2 maybe, it depends how much traffic, if any, was suppressed by the narrow highway (i.e., opted not to drive). And even a small increase could be inconsequential to the better function of the widened highway. Only detailed traffic analyses could help determine its potential success

Please worship the CREATOR OF THE UNIVERSE, THE LORD GOD and try not to worry too much about the differences between the different religions and denominations, try to think about the similarities and the things they may have in common more than the differences. Daily prayer is a fundamental part that many people do not practice although it is encouraged "CREATOR OF THE UNIVERSE, LORD GOD, I beg you to never force me to worship any false god and I ask you for forgiveness for my sins and immorality. Thank you for everything. Amen." Please pray this now, pray the words as you read them if you cannot look and remember them 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏

A shame that Birmingham was the largest city in terms of population. Now it falls to third largest. Huntsville is now the largest city with the capital Montgomery second largest.
