nterstate 295 (I-295) is a highway which runs eastwards and northwards bypass of the cities of Richmond and Petersburg in the U.S. state of Virginia. The southern terminus is an interchange with I-95 southeast of Petersburg. I-295 then has an interchange with I-64 east of Richmond, crosses I-95 north of Richmond, and continues westward to its other terminus at a second interchange with I-64.

I take this every trip north from Florida. It’s a nice road that avoids a lot of heavy traffic on 95. Glad they got a handle on the pothole problem.

It's the "sister" bridge to the Sen. William V. Roth (formerly Chesapeake & Delaware Canal) Bridge in St. Georges, Delaware (north of where US 301 ends it's Florida to Delaware run).

Love the ride on interstate 295 North in Richmond VA

There is a short portion that goes through the city of Hopewell. The area is notorious as one giant speed trap. I used to drive this route every day going to and from work and on more than one occasion would I see 3+ traffic stops in a half mile section (both directions) of highway.

Definitely love this bypass from the countless return from vacation trips back up north. Love the concrete sections. Only downside is that it doesn't have any rest stops, but i can understand the lack of them on it. Edit: Dang. I didn't realize they repaved the concrete sections of the road to asphalt some years ago. 😮 Gonna miss the whistling sound of the concrete they had.

I grew up watching this highway get built in fits and starts, including when construction stalled completely for much of the mid 1980s. Altogether it took 13 years (1979-1992) to get it built. I'm still annoyed they didn't extend the southern end of 295 over to 85.
