Interstate 35 (I-35) in Texas is a major north-south Interstate Highway running from Laredo near the Mexican border to the Red River north of Gainesville where it crosses into Oklahoma. Along its route, it passes through the cities of San Antonio, Austin, and Waco before it splits into two auxiliary routes just north of Hillsboro. I-35E heads northeast where it passes through Dallas. I-35W turns northwest to run through Fort Worth. The two branches meet up in Denton to again form I-35, where it continues to the Oklahoma border. The exit numbers for I-35E maintain the sequence of exit numbers from the southern segment of I-35, and the northern segment of I-35 follows on from the sequence of exit numbers from I-35E. I-35W maintains its own sequence of exit numbers.
In Texas, I-35 runs for just over 503 miles (810 km),[1] which does not include the 85-mile (137 km) segment of I-35W. It does include the 97-mile (156 km) segment of I-35E. Texas contains more miles of the overall length of I-35 than any other state, almost one-third of the entire length.
The Interstate is currently undergoing an extensive renovation and expansion project, known as 'My35'. The project includes work on portions of the Interstate from Dallas south to Laredo. Once complete, the highway will span three lanes in each direction from Hillsboro to San Antonio.

There is SO much un-recognized engineering and science involved in building a road like this. It's incredibly amazing how people come together to accomplish such a feat. The common person will never know the miracle.

This trip use to be a highly stressful drive when 35E was a two lane road. I still loved the drive, but now the trip is so much more fun. Except, at times, I'll break off onto 77 and enjoy the Texas countryside. Great video, I'm going to leave it running as I go about my other deskwork.

MM 430 from Hampton, MM 400 outside Waxahachie, MM 370 at the 35E/35W road fork.. 35E the priority interstate keeps I-35 mileage up from Laredo. 35W has its own mileage.

Only Texas interstates have service roads. The frontage road from Hillsboro south to Elm Mott, South Waco to North Austin were 1950s US 81 until the interstate in the 1970s.

Took a road trip to Texas for the first time from New England about a month ago, amazed on how their highway infrastructure is so different compared to I-95 on the east coast. When I drove through Austin, I was caught in the middle of rush hour, the flow of traffic was so mesmerizing I tolerated it alot more than NYC/Boston traffic.

You did it in pretty good time. Now that all of the widening work from Hillsboro all the way through Waco and Temple is done, it's a pretty smooth journey at around 80mph.

Freeway used to be two lanes per way until the grassy median was mostly removed to add the third lane, besides removing cable barriers.

@2:27:48 this is the exit to the home I grew up in Round Rock. There is always a traffic jam at this area even though they tried to reconfigure the lanes and ramps ahead.

Bro I can't be laughing at how big our state is. It took you almost 3 hours to drive almost all of Texas LMAO. I remember going to San Antonio in 2019 and on the map, it may not look so bad, but in an objective life perspective, it's a considerable distance.

3 hours is nothing in Texas. He definitely did not drive almost all of it. For instance, if you wanted to drive from Houston to El Paso on the Trans-Pecos's border with New Mexico, it's over a 10 hour drive without stopping and even though Houston is on the Gulf, there are cities that go further that that. For instance, Texarkana, on the far northeast corner bordering Arkansas, to El Paso is over a 12 hour drive without stopping and over 800 miles.
