Greetings from Arkansas! Back in June i drove through there heading west into AZ. It was GORGEOUS! It was night by the time we got into Albuquerque. There was road work that slowed us down, other than that i loved it! But....not crazy about your music on this vid.
Driving back to Albuquerque using this route is always beautiful. The mountain is way more huge in person and is especially pretty when there is some snow sprinkled on top. Great video!
In '96 I moved my brother back to Mpls from LA. We pulled into Albuquerque about 10pm. Beautiful view on Nine Mile Hill but little scary with a full truck and trailer....
I remember I-40 being constructed back in the mid to late 60's when I lived in Edgewood N.M. My heart, though, belongs to its predecessor, Route 66; America seemed a better place back then.
these are some neat and personal observations. too much smack commenting on youtube. you're keeping it concrete and real. i've driven a lot of I-10 but always switched to I-20 up to dallas.
I made a video of kite skiing at 80 ° 19′S, 81 ° 16′W ....... for roughly 1.3 miles then I stumbled onto something that has confounded me so much unearthed ...... I have remained steadfast of the eeriness yet I have these pragmatic visions that took me to U.S. Route 285 just outside of Roswell. New Mexico and the bottom of the planet harbor several unimaginable clandestine "whimsical oddities" that are quite frankly frightening.
Cool video! I noticed the the East I-40 signs were all on green signs, is that just in the Albuquerque area our throughout New Mexico? It's the first time I've seen reassurance signs like that ON the interstate itself.
aye back in feb of this year i took a road trip from cali on i-40 east all the way up to Tennessee then off and thru Mississippi and back west thru the i-10..and new mexico is boring and pretty..but the freeway thru burque reminds me exactly like las vegas nv freeway.identical, except its bigger thru Albuquerque.matter of fact, Albuquerque reminds me exactly like las vegas nv just minus all the casinos...
Albuquerque has reached the foot of the Sandia Mts. It is about 5 miles from downtown to them. ABQ sits at 5000 feet and the crest on top of the mts. is 10,578 ft. I've climbed down & it took hours. Going up isn't a quick walk up. Most of the West side is sheer cliffs. length 17 miles and width is 8 miles. You can drive up/ski on the backside. There is a long tram up the front side. You should seem the mts. at sunset.
5000 foot sheer cliffs on west side facing Albuquerque? Get the record books of Guinness, we got Albuquerque as the most rockslide/avalanche prone city in America, if not the world!!!
Can someone tell me how far that huge mountain in the background is from the city? If I lived there I'd absolutely love to climb up that thing every weekend.
although this is late; the Sandias are right at the foot of the city. I think the mountains are at the eastern most part where their are tons of hikers and bikers in the area. There is also the Sandia Peak Tram which takes you from the bottom of the mountain all the way to the peak
People in Albuquerque celebrate it by telling everyone else in America "YOU SUCK!" Now all Albuquerque needs is The Ocean and plenty of Mavericks to boot and they got it all made in Paradise!!!!!
3:39 On left side of freeway is a billboard sigh advertising one of the then newer Buc'ees in Texas, the Amarillo location right off I-40 and US 287! Now why would they advertise it in Albuquerque, NM is beyond me!!!
