No sure if you heard, but Wisconsin has begun the process through their "majors" highway program to reconstruct 94 from the Zoo to the Marquette interchange. It is recommended the corridor be reconstructed from 3 to 5 lanes in each direction with a cost estimated to be in the billions. It will probably be Wisconsin's most expensive highway project ever.
Milwaukee is one of the best places to drive in summer time. Probably as fun as Miami, Florida. The streets are very cruise friendly-and it is actually a rather safe city to enjoy the nightlife in. Water Street gets congested on weekends in summer with revelers. Wisconsin people are also super friendly folks.
@eluko79 The state is currently using general fund bonds, transportation fund revenues, and is looking at dedicating the motor vehicle sales tax to pay for major projects. The state is focused on highway reconstruction compared to Minnesota which seems to be focused on abandoning highway expansion and looking only at rail expansion. It's amazing how state policies differ.
The Alice Cooper quote was from his lines in the movie Waynes World. And when he said Milwaukee meant "the good land" he pronouced it as Miliwaukay, or something like that. One of the best lines in the movie. Anyway, I've enjoyed your TC videos alot and glad you have decided to do a few Milwaukee freeways too! Keep up the good work eluko79!!
Milwaukee is big enough and has the volume of traffic that is appropriate for a 4 or 5 lane freeway in each direction. The 3 each way is too cluttered and can cause accidents. That whole 794 interchange was impressive. As far as Minnesota, they really need to step it up making 94 from Maple Grove to Monticello 3 lanes each way and eventually all the way up to St. Cloud. That traffic back up 20 miles long is ridiculous!
Nice video! Being from the metro Milwaukee area myself, it's so awesome so see these time-lapse videos of where I drive at least a couple times each month. Thanks for sharing!
Great videos of I-94 and the Milwaukee Street tour. I was at Miller Field in 2005 and loved the stadium..great job with the video. Liked that Google Maps introduction in the beginning, by the way.
YES!!! Finally, someone has uploaded a high-quality, stable video of the Marquette Interchange, for all of us to see on RU-vid. Neat ride thru the rest of Milwaukee, too. Wasn't expecting those flyover ramps at US 41, either. Muisic was definitely solid, too. Are you going to showcase a freeway tour of the interchange in the future? LOL @ the commentary your inserted, from Alice Cooper.
@eluko79 Current & future (past 2020) major projects above the $500 million mark include: 94 between 894 & IL state line Zoo Interchange 41 in Green Bay & Oshkosh 94 between the Zoo & Marquette US 12 in Madison (The Madison Beltline) 90/39 from Madison to IL 43 from Milwaukee to Grafton
Neat ride! Milwaukee is on my list of places to get to, big thumbs up! So the Marquette Interchange cost $810 Million? Wow, the HighFive in Dallas (with all due respect looks much more impressive) was only $261 Million in a similar time period, amazing.
Freewayjim I find the old interchange more impressive, I would love to drive on the old one, the new one is more modern and has less of the clasicc 60s vibe, now the dot is making the zoo interchange more of a mini Marquette interchange, the Mitchell interchange is the more unique interchange millwauke has to offer. The tunells were a nice way to make the thing stand out more.
I was trying to watch the road signs, trying to find familiar exits, but they were going by too quickly. Once this Covid thing passes, I need to get back. I've not been back in over a decade now.
If you think the Marquette interchange ($810 million) is impressive, the next major project after WisDOT completes the 94 North-South project ($1 billion) between Milwaukee and the Illinois state line, is the zoo interchange where 94 intersects 45 & 894 ($2.3 billion). If you look up the plans on WisDOTs website they are even more impressive. It's too bad we will never see projects like this in Minnesota ever again. Crosstown is the last real "major" project MnDOT will ever have.
MnDOT is currently working on a new bridge called St Croix Crossing outside Stillwater which will cost somewhere between $624.3 to $646.8 Million, which is more expensive than the Crosstown project back from 2007-2010, pretty "major" alright if you ask me.
+roadguy88 and +HwySchiltz 70A, MnDOT is Starting to Reconstruct the I-35/I-535/US-53 Interchange (Can of Worms Interchange) in Duluth, MN. I Seen an Animation Video of that Interchange and it will be as Great as the Marquette Interchange in my Opinion. That will be Impressive.
