I really loved how you explained all this by each point. I certainly agree on the grief, its great for that to be mentioned in a YA and even you having a connection with the identity. I've yet to read anything from Elizabeth Acevedo's , but I certainly want to read Clap When You Land. Thank you for reviewing this book

I’ve read all of her books. The Poet X is my favourite, Clap When You Land is next, and With The Fire On High is my least favourite.

Do you think that this book would be appropriate for an an eleven year old girl?

I think some themes are for older kids, maybe 13-14 years old. There are some scenes that hint at sexual harassment (nothing explicit is mentioned) and death is talked about in general. If the eleven year old has access to an adult they can talk to and ask about these themes, it would be a great read for them :)

I loved your review of this Nicole, especially your discussion about identity and how you could relate to that. I just finished this book last night and it completely blew me away. I thought the depiction of grief was second to none and the way it explored family dynamics and showcased just how messy and complicated families can be. Man. I agree - Elizabeth Acevedo is one of my new favourite authors
