I went surf fishing with this cheal budget reel that is sealed better than the daiwa BG. I was surprised at how durable it was. For $54 bucks, this budget reel is a beast.
Why did you return it?? You should have given it a real test over time, or taken it apart and inspected it. Also, pretty lame to exchange it after intentionally abusing it....
@@BeachBomberFishing No, returns are built into our tax system as a write off. Abusing the system hurts everyone. I don't care about Walmart. I care about WASTE of products, materials, time, energy, and ultimately the planet. I was interested in this reel but because you took it back without looking at it more closely it tells us nothing. Too much abuse, and ultimately the whole thing is a waste. You're showcasing waste and abuse. Disrespectful and not even very informative.
I have to agree. I think that's a pretty 💩 thing to do. I can see if it broke or something but it didn't so you should've just kept it used it. Done more videos on it.
Hey bro....so how do you think the reel did over all? I've also seen the next sizes up....for for cheap budget prices..... curious if they can hold up and do some fishing for rookie anglers😂✌️
I bought and quickly returned a Tsunami Shield 5000 this week (1st week Aug 2022) and this Ozark reel looks a lot like the one I just returned. Heck, the key they provided for the inside is practically the same. Not sure if other reels have the same wrench (haven't had to repair any of my 4 Penn reels), so I don't know. This reel may be a rebranded shield after all.
Just one question,, do you no matter the cost grease the drag washers,, I do because,, every rell I've bought,, they have to be grease,, with good grease,,
I've already decided on my new collection: saragosa swa 10k, slammer 4dx 5500, saltist mq 8k, and Azores blue 6k. I'll just go light on braid and leader for freshwater. I see no reason to but a freshwater rig when it's cheaper to but lighter braid & leader. What good is a reel if you can't fish anywhere you want by simply changing braid & leader? Chesapeake bay fishing begins downtown below the falls, so I buy for above & below them. I gotta get some Big Tex action though. I've been to many COWBOYS games, but never fished Texas waters. THAT is a must. Too much coastal water to keep ignoring. Might have to bring the kayaks and/or sea doo for Texas, though. I've fished the East Coast, Los Angeles, Seattle, and Alaska, but never the South Coast. Might as well get it done.
Great video. I'd love to see you keep it and fish with that reel for atleast a month. Don't wash it when you get home, then just fish. If it's elite like it claims, you will be the guy to find out what it's made of.
@@BeachBomberFishing thanks for the reply. Always glad to hear from an amazing youtuber. Your amazing bro. I have a question. When I cast, should I set my drag to be tight. Or cast and leave it loose? When should I tighten my drag? I've always casted, set the sinker, or digger, then tightened my drag.
@@BeachBomberFishing Looking forward to the follow up video to this. I traveled to Galveston a while back and had brought some reels there, didn't even get them wet just fished the bays, brought them back home and forgot to wash them. After a month sitting in the garage they wouldn't move at all even after heavily lubing them.
Depending what I'm fishing for I would definitely consider using that on the jetty. I'd much rather accidentally break a $55 reel on the rocks rather than $130 to over $200 reel.
Give it about a week and use it again after dunking it in water, see if it still gonna hold and not be stiff because of corrosion,my penn reels normally takes about the same time for it to start getting crunchy and eventually locks up
Since the Tsunami Shield is an OEM reel, this Ozark trail one is most likely an OEM version. There are more out there. But never seen them this cheap before
Hey bro. I see you here t 91st street Galveston Fishing Pier and Gibraltar now 😂 I see you’re busy. Didn’t want to bother you. Just gonna wait to see you catch a big fish.
I’m a little late to the party but I picked up a piscifun carnivore bait feeder 4000 on clearance for 35plus tax. Kinda impressed but would love to see a review on it if you can get your hands on it…. Yes, yes, I know. It’s garbage but I picked it up for the price… the price.
Only one I see is 29 buck for the 4000 on sake from 39.Model number would be nice in the description. Most reels are ok after 1st day fishing but it's the 2nd use when you break it out it's fucked after sitting for a week with sand and water.I use a 8 dollar bait reel in the surf and it works great all day but smooth locked up if I try to use it the next time
That’s the difference between sealed 😂 You used a $8 reel with no seals on the beach and it locked later which could happen to a $80 reel with no seals after using it on the beach. That’s literally the whole fucking point of this tell being sealed with 13 seals.
Just got a penn mag 515 from the UK for $185 shipped . Looks just like the fathom 2 u did a video on except it is blue and black.. slick reel check it out.. keep up the awesome videos
Hey Beach Bomber. Is a Penn Warfare level wind with line counter a good reel for a surf reel? Want to put it on a 10 to 12 foot surf casting rod but I don't know if I got the right model for this application. Thanks for any feedback.
@@BeachBomberFishing OK thanks man, I'll check it out. Any recommendations for a Penn casting reel to put on a surf casting rod, which ones do you like? Thanks again.
This reel seems to be a bootleg version of the Tsunami shield? Maybe even made in the same manufacturing plant 🤔 I think they have the same tool to open them
wild video. it sure looks like the shield i own . same handle, same backpiece strap and same supplied tool which is almost useless and poorly designed.don't know about this reel but i like the shield better than the more expensive tsunami evict.
oh dang it said ozark trail on the package that means it is the walmart own-label brand. Now, I really am impressed! edit, oh.... he said that... lol did not hear him at first.
The first thing I noticed about this reel is its weight ru-vid.comUgkxM68VkfsQhHaabDce1IwOCXuvumcpbZ_k . I wouldn't say it was uncomfortable but it was a little heavier than other similarly sized reels. However, that didn't deter my enjoyment of how smooth this reel is. I spooled it with 20lb. Tuf-Line XP and it's perfect for what I use it for. I have it paired with an 8'6" Medium/Fast Okuma SST Salmon/Steelhead rod. The combination is perfect for casting and even drifting. I used the reel all day and didn't experience any arm or hand fatigue except when fighting a few fish! The bail is solid and feels strong when engaging by reeling and manually closing the bail by hand. The large rubber handle grip is very comfortable. It's got a powerful drag, silky smooth reeling, and feels very comfortable in the hands. I recommend it!
I have a lot of different Penns from the last decade and despite them being manufactured in China I personally haven't had any issues with defects and I also have Daiwa as well both companies are good but even Daiwa's low end reels aren't made in Japan. You have spend a lot of money on a reel in order for it to be made in the US or Japan.
Now I didn't bother watching everything yet do I understand from ending the reel you were abusing for an income your exchanged? That should be criminal
Penn wrath reel is incredible for 70 bucks I caught 5 foot shark off beach with Penn 8000 wrath 75 pound braid line Reel beat the shark pretty easy Says it can catch sailfish
@@BeachBomberFishing 😆 im sure its happened at least once. Doin smores, then accidentally tip rod and reel in the fire or somethin. But good info, ima try one out.
Good video but unfortunately you get what you pay for. If you only want to fish for a few weekends then this would be great. If you want something to last year after year and have better performance you have to spend some money.
