Its a pity that PeakDo isn't available. I've always wanted to be able to wirelessly play on my PC while sitting in front of it on a terrible tiny screen with horrible controllers.
Yeah, it's pretty rough. Even a jailbroken PS Vita streaming games via Moonlight (especially with additional capacitive triggers for R2/L2 and R3/L3) is significantly more impressive than this abomination. That said, I do like what they're attempting to do. The quality and range needs to be improved quite significantly before it would become a worthwhile product, however.
@@radicalraccoon I remember back in the day jailbreaking PSP's and running them through a monitor for my kids to game on, that was micro HDMI to the yellow, white, red plugs as I recall.. I think peakdo is trying to fix something that ain't broke, but I agree with you that it looks interesting and maybe in time we'll get a better product..
The idea is pretty great. It's like a steam deck with pc hardware. You just have to be in the same room as the pc. You can play your pc games laying on your bed! What more do you want?
The Switch monitor idea is awesome, yet can't have the need for a battery pack. If it came close to matching the monitor quality of the Switch OLED, I'd buy it. Would most likely be a $500+ dollar product though so maybe not.
The last product they were probably looking for your feedback before they launched it. Which is awesome. Hopefully they can fix that range and haptic feedback before they roll it out. Looked like a promising product!
Im more curious how they are even allowed to just put joycon rails on their device without getting sued to hell, maybe someone could make a portable pc that just loooks like a switch lol.
What’s honestly the point of streaming games to a mobile device when you can only do it at home, where you can just play them at the real device? Makes absolutely no sense.
They have a few other speakers too. There is the Venus (I have on on my desk because I went through a GravaStar phase) which is a tiny little guy that follows in a similar but cuter design...and then there's the Mozart which I hate more than words can describe.
PayPal suddenly owning Honey explains a lot - like the fact it has saved me enough money to buy a generic packet of mints, in all the years I have had it installed, and the thousands I have spent.
Really depends on what you use it for. I use it to order pizza online a lot and probably a good 70% of the time it’s able to get me decent discounts. Shopping for random stuff online, not as much, but sometimes on certain websites. I think it helps to use brand’s sites instead of shopping sites like Amazon because they’re more likely to be running exclusive deals with email codes and stuff.
I always felt like honey was just a front end for data collection to see what products you buy and test what ads are effective on you. Idk, seems really sketchy.
@@ianemery2925 Thats great practice. Every website and service nowadays wants to know everything about you so they can profit off of your very existence. real scary world we live in
@@lenshibo It can be an eye opener, I have found Farcebook trackers injected INSIDE supposedly secure payment pages for banks, government sites, AND food delivery services. My bank removed it after I notified them, but Dominos didnt, so I no longer use Dominos (UK) online ordering service. This does mean that they may have eventually removed it, but in their case it was particularly bad - the payment process WOULD FAIL, if the farcebook tracking script was blocked; and I did give them a year to act.

@@AnnaDoes These bots would be really easy for youtube to stop before they even got in the door, but youtube does nothing -- it makes me wonder if they're making money off them somehow...
Hi Dawid, Just wanted to say I love your videos and please don't stop yourself from being 'not nice' to products in the future! Your commentary on preinstalled VDs is one of my favourite things to look forward to in every video you make.
Honestly the PeakDo handheld is intriguing, depending on the price and if they could boost the range a bit... If it were priced reasonably, I wouldn't mind picking one up to play Skyrim or something while laying in bed (my PC is on the other side of my bedroom). Wonder if it has the ability to send audio input back to the PC, so you could plug in a headset and talk on Discord for example.
oh definetly. it already has a usb connection for the input, sending some audio along shouldnt be a problem for a company that specializes in high bandwith low latency wireless signalling.
I want Dawid to keep doing this. Just a running series of "shit I said yes to..." This is excellent content. It allows him to make fun of stuff and he doesn't seem miserable. Fantastic!
Ok I love the look of that speaker and if it was closer to $100 or preferably less I would totally buy 2 to use as desk speakers. Which I really feel these are more for a desktop than for casually bringing around like you would with a bluetooth speaker. Heck that should just make a basic $150 2 pack that are wired only because the style is nice and bluetooth gets overraited.
@@DawidDoesTechStuff hey man thanks for the heart. Love your content. But yeah I understand it’s probably difficult to make it monthly when the shipping can vary from 2 weeks to never actually arriving.
Just an FYI on the speaker; the mid-range driver is on the front too, behind the tweeter. The one on the back side is not actually a driver, it's a passive radiator; it will simply move back and forth (similar to a low-range speaker or subwoofer) with the frequency the rest of the unit is making, which helps amplify the low-end. It's not powered and has no coil/magnet. Often used on better-quality bluetooth speakers and space-constrained subwoofers.
The PeakDo thing reminds me of a prototype laptop that passed through work; I was responsible for selling it on e-bay and it was one hell of a thing to even describe, I think there was one English word on the casing somewhere (It was "Aladdin" or something similarly evocative and useless as a search string), several numbers corresponding to nothing, and a few labels in an Oriental language I do not read, but they were clearly just inspection tags. I eventually ended up using information from the BIOS, as it did actually _work_ and thus I was able to confirm it was a prototype thanks to the giant "NOT FOR PRODUCTION" warning in the said BIOS. It was in every way otherwise an unremarkable device quite like its contemporaries in form and capacities, so I know nothing further.
17:33 I think I know what's happening here: They seem to be a company that sell wireless transmitters and I believe they just put together that product as a disguise for you to review the wireless hdmi transmitter for them! Lol
The peakdo is a prototype device. A bunch of other China based companies have sent their version out to tech companies. Those other versions come with Windows or Linux depending on your preference.
Assuming Peak Do sent you their low end HDMI thingy, it's only got a range of about 12ft They do seem to have a 100ft model though. It's a shame the whole kit doesn't exist I could use something like that (although it's probably more expensive than a steam deck
The three "legs" thing is helping this speaker to sound better. Every high-quality audio benefits from the pointy standing support. Also, every 4-legged table always uses only 3. Physics and construction.
This episode sponsored by Anna’s TARDIS, apparently. Some products from so far in the future they don’t physically exist yet. Great selection for this one.
The last one would be perfect if they could fix the range and haptic feedback thing. I could be in the living room, and use my PC in the bedroom without disturbing my partner at night Shame it doesn't exist
I'd actually use those Pomodoro timers!! Setting the 25m/5m timer patter, on a device which doesn't provide any other distractions, would mean I could just leave my phone and everything else in a different room.
I think I can resume this as "Good ideas with poor execution". Which is a shame. Excellent video as usual. PS: A little disappointed you didn't try anything crazy with them...
pomodoro timers sound cool - apparently for people with ADHD setting a timer for a task helps regulate time and keep them/us from losing several hours at a time AND gives us that sense of "last minute urgency" that someone of us thrive on. I may have to pick one of these up!
3:02 If you see a weird thing that's kinda speaker-ish somewhere other than the front, it's probably a passive radiator. It mirrors the powered speaker motions by the magic of air pressure in a sealed enclosure.
Retrogamecorp had a novel idea, sell it on a eBay charity store. I know that can't always happen due to x isn't allowed to sold, but I'm sure most companies would wave that for charity
the bluetooth speaker looks cool if your into that style...i can also see the timers being useful and are way better than the old school dial type timer that just made a ''ding'' sound when time was up
They actually have some better dial timers out there! Mine's a deathstar and makes the sound of it firing when time is up. But I can see the tick timer being useful in certain cases. Definitely seems better for cooking where you often need more precise timing Though, for daily use that's less reliant on 100% precision, like the pomodoro technique, it seems easier to just use a dial timer since it doesn't require frequent charging
GravaStar is my new favorite brand, love their sci-fi design stuff, i own one Sirius Pro Earbuds from them and honestly im very happy with my purchase.
The handheld console is marked "peakdo" on the back so it's a product from them.... It's weird... I would love to see the back of it with more details, to look for that, maybe you've got a future product from them, even if i doubt a clone like that could be really sold by an real brand ^^
i feel like something like the doo has some potential. something that plays off hdmi output without internet. sounds pretty sick. someone let me know if this is already a thing
I actually would love something similar to the last product. I have my PC in my bedroom so streaming games to a portable device like that would be great if I want to be in bed.
I know these take a bunch of times consisting of many shots but certainly you have among the best box opening passive aggressiveness in the tech space. I mean Austin Evans still doesn't quite hit the same levels of sass and tact and he does it all the time . Fun times Dawid
Linus reviewed the peakdo hdmi receiver a year ago, I'm guessing they are just trying different implementations and the handheld is just a prototype. I must say they got 25m of (unobstructed) range so maybe it will be better in the future.
I liked the robot speaker thing, looked pretty cool....Although the price, I don't like the price for something fairly novelty. And I'm sure for that money, I could get something much better or comparable.
@@Ruslan.88266 Yes that's a fair amount of money , I mean the build quality did look pretty good. And while I'm certainly no Audiophile, the sound seemed decent. But I'm between jobs at the moment, health is a bit iffy so yea not sure if this something I need to pool resources into, at the moment anyway. But cool gadget for for sure, in the future maybe.
I've always found it interesting how much time and effort people invest in their "time management" and productivity strategies. Just imagine how much better they would be if half the day wasn't dedicated to setting up their time management.
Honestly, the PeakDo sounds like it would be nice for when I am too lazy to use my mouse and keyboard.... but that's also why I got a wireless mouse and want to get something like a Corsair Lapdog.
I love this series. Its fun to see random stuff and hear you trash talk it. Or see you get excited for something to find out it's a burning pile of trash lol
1. Don't stop being hard on items that deserve it. 2. I've had honey for over a year now, it's never saved me anything & I'm prolly gona remove it soon.
the haptic feed back has to be adjusted on the pc program u had the joycons rtunning through it was getting confused with whatever commands they were getting.
I enjoy these kinds of video's because they are different and we get to see items we've never heard of before. The chance that they will work or not is fun.
GravaStar is one of the unique Bluetooth speaker with sci-fi mini droid looking enclosure. Their speaker is very excellent, but their asking price is astronomical. But with all that said, it looks amazing and an eye catcher.
