I picked this up for £20 from Facebook Marketplace. It's a Barcrest Bootylicious fruit/slot machine from 2009. Does anyone out there have any experience on these things? I need some help! Cheers Steve
Apparently there's a reset routine for the MPU6 after you replace the CR2032, power it off, hold down up/down button and power on, select RAM test and it apparently resets, you then enter time and date.
Hi Steve, asked a mate who’s a fruit machine engineer… Mpu 6 if you change the battery it requires ram clear you have to get it into ram clear and hold down button 1 and 4 I think it’s been years since I did one once that’s cleared normally ok and the yellow wire looks like the one that plugs into the board at top the right hand side one there keyed so it can only fit into one plug and to get into top up etc it will need a Dallas key but that’s the touch pad he pointed at the keys are blue / green or yellow they all do different things there’s also one of those touch keys on out side if machine the only main issue is if someone has changed Mpu there may be no take program in it then it’s scrap unless someone has the flash card with it in that’s why it’s £20 I’ve dumped loads of them unfortunately.
it also looks like a bunch of the wiring harnesses aren't connected, and that's why there are just so many errors, but obviously I could be wrong because I have no clue what I'm talkign about
Years ago a sparky buddy of mine bought an old non-working fruit machine from his local that was shutting down for £45, four of us carried it to his house which was up a very big hill, when he started stripping it down a bit he found just over £80 in change loose inside.
steve there a white interlock switch on the left as you open the the front if you pull that out it should allow the machine to run normal and not in maintenance mode .
If you can track down what board(s) those errors point to, that would be a good place to start. Best case scenario, the errors all point to the same board OR one ribbon cable connects to separate boards that contain all the errors. Good luck! I love watching you figure this stuff out, because I sure wouldn't have the patience. You definitely are a diligent troubleshooter. If you spend enough time on it, you'll figure it out. I hope we can watch the journey with you!
@@highroyds Thanks highroyds! I did actually find that video yesterday and gave it a go. My one won't go to the reset part. Holding the buttons down does nothing and it stays in self-test mode 😣
On top of the box at 1:58 there isa dongle in the top left that isn’t plugged all the way in. Something like that might contribute to it acting crazy like it is.
What i think that might help is to try: -reconnecting all the cables -see if the cables even work by using a multimeter and seeing if it shorts -above the you see those connectors maybe try disconnecting those and seeing if that works -maybe searching for a missing board -try and see if the cables lead to something important and maybe check if there are any open ports where those loose cables fit in I hope that maybe one of these idea's might get your further! But i'll still wish you the best of luck i know that i made alot of typos but i'm lazy and don't feel like checking
I don't know anything about these machines in particular, but there are a couple things that stand out to me. There is an additional connector that appears to not be connected to anything. You can see it above the middle wheel at 0:45. Near the top of the frame at the same timestamp, you can see two wire management twists that are empty. Perhaps there is something missing that the dangling connector you mentioned is supposed to connect to that was removed.
I can't wait for more episodes on this machine. I'm fairly sure you didn't "accidentally" buy it. You accidentally buy whole milk instead of semi-skimmed, but not a fruit machine. 😂
Hey Steve, you seem to have at least two loose connectors the second one is dangling in the breeze at 0:50. Its only briefly visible, the connector is white and has 4 sets of wires (white, black, red, yellow) it seems to origninate from the bottom of the MPU box. Shortly after in the shot of the board at 0:51 way on the right side there are just two pins visible on the board of what appears to be an empty header. The leftmost pin seems to be bent slightly to the right. Not sure if that is the header for the unplugged cable but it is surely a candidate to check. This looks like an intersting one, so congrats on your bargain purchase =)
Ok so on the bottom left hand side where the bottom door is on the back you will see the power supply which has several outputs of various voltages. There should be 4/6 led’s which should be lit green when the machine is powered on. If 1 or more of those led’s are red or not lit, you need to replace the power supply and the machine “should” function correctly. The power supply will possibly be around £20/30 and you can buy them from an arcade that runs these type of machines etc. The power supply should be pretty generic. I hope this info is of some help Steve. Good luck with this. Rory.
1. Examine PSU. Check voltages and fuses. 2. Disconnect EVERYTHING from the MPU EXCEPT Reels. 3. Power the machine. 4. Should initialise and seek reels. Get it to do that and move forward from there by connecting a system at a time and switching on. If fuses blow, downgrade the fuse until you find the issue to avoid further damage.
Hi I should add the test switch is located behind the reels I think on the hopper side just below the hopper once in test you can test coin mech lamps, reels, alpha, which is the led indicator on the play glass test switches etc, to toggle through the tests there should be a couple of buttons flashing you'll see on the alpha the various test you can perform just hit start to enter the test you want if there are any bulbs missing I can send you any colour they're mostly wedge bulbs, good luck with it I'll look forward to seeing your video's on it.
Reset the RTC by turning off the power and pressing the up and down buttons on the MPU6 while turning it back on. Test RAM; if it passes, restart the machine. If the error persists, replace the CR2032 battery on the MPU6 board. Run self-test routines and check switches and channels1. Hope this helps! 😊
I would start by figuring out where that yellow cable goes. It looked like there was a white cable on the bottom that wasn't connected either. I'm sure it's worth way more than 20lb to the right person. Those boards look valuable even as scrap.
That yellow connection is for the coin mech if its cctalk the note acceptor isn't initialising its held on by 2 nuts and hinges down take the power out I can't see whether it's a jcm or nv10 nv meaning note validator I am currently working for a gaming company all pc based now but I was the trainer at gamestec the first thing I would have looked at is a drill hole at the back of the cab right behind the mpu the thrives would've drilled through into the circuit board and shorted the hopper thus dumping it into the paybowl.
So check when you put the mpu6 back together that the enter button is not jammed , that put it in self test when you switch it on , normally after you replace the batter 1st thing that appears it RTC RESET and all you do is ram clear and reboot , Next check to see if there is a game file on the mpu6 something.bin , you may have erased it by accident. Good luck Roberto (fruit machine engineer)
error 5236 These are caused by faults on the MPU6 and relate to the flash memory sound like you need to reinstall the software, barcrest website for downloads closed a few years back so dont know where you would be able to pick one up from. voltages are fine as the LEDs on the mpu are all lit, each LED is a supply voltage from psu. as for the getting into test and doing hopper dump and hopper refill, that cabinet came with dongles that you pressed onto that dongle pad (they where called dallas keys), they use to live on the ends of the metal chains, one dangles next to the hopper, one is in the bottom for dump, they where either blue or green, there was a yellow one to get it into refill mode on the bottom front of the machine.
Could also be that you need to put some coins in the hopper to prime it and then close the door when loaded. I used to empty them as part of a job in a bingo hall. You could also try setting it to free play
given it looks like the MPU is not connected to anything but the "barbus" does the white cable labeled as IO on the MPU, connect up to the white plug (yellow wires) coming down from above - otherwise how does the MPU communicate with anything else in the case? Otherwise we likely would need images of the top and bottom board to be able to assist with googling.
Hi Steve it's been a while since I've worked on one of these I believe you press the test button and the enter button on the mpu the test button which is located around that board with the LED'S you'll see it it's a white button
When it says 'cycle power' that doesn't mean cut the main.... it means use the ON/OFF SWITCH for the machine.... at least that's what 'cycle power' usually means..... FIND AN ON/OFF SWITCH somewhere on the machine.... probably inside if it's a real machine that involves money.... - have you looked for the repair manual, or user manual, or ANY type of written material??? - if you can't find online then you might have to contact the company manufacturers it and ask them how much for a repair/service manual... but that's IF they allow regular people to get it like here in the states where anything to do with gambling is tightly regulated and you need a license to obtain anything to do with those machines..... but the internet can help bypass that, if you can find it
Caps on main PSU check dip switches on port board and you may be missing the game board if it doesn’t have the roms on the main processor board. The USB is for DMU to connect it to a pc and run full diagnostics. Make a list of all the boards in the case and download the service manual for it.
Sounds like a power issue. The machine will not display error codes if the MPU is removed because the MPU is what determines error codes. Its like removing the brain from the body
I cant help you, but i cannot wait for the hour long ep on if you can fix it though lol You should get your 20 bucks back from the RU-vid video at least 😂
Thanks Johnny, the empty connector is an I/O port so it's presumably for an engineer to do diagnostics etc. The connector dangling doesn't fit... in fact, I've looked everywhere and it doesn't appear to go anywhere. I'm assuming it's not used on this particular machine, but I could be wrong!
There's nothing plugged into the "Data Port" (top right), would that big lume of yellow wires not be plugged in there, and possibly pulled out when opening?
Cell id means it doesn't no what machine it is. ie bootylishous. When it has the correct software installed for example it will say bootylishous ver1.9 for example on the mpu screen and the alpha display. That's why it won't start
I'd probably start by trying to work out where that one dangly cable harness with the loose connector, what that's supposed to plug into. Well, actually, I'd start with the step _before_ that, strictly speaking -- trying to work out, based on what connects to what and how, what each board/module/gadget/etc does and why. You don't need anything more than a very rough sense of that -- eg "this is what drives the motors for the roller wheels with the fruit symbols" "this senses the position of each wheel" etc -- and _then_ I'd work out what that cable connects to, and reconnect it... if that didn't fix it, knowing that the MPU6 is probably the nerve center, the "brains of the operation", if you will, I'd try and work out why it's having a rather literal failure to communicate with the rest of the everything else that's there.
Switch off machine, press in the top button on mpu6 and switch on machine self test will come up on the mpu6 display then release top button then press enter use the the up and down buttons to scroll through the menu to test ram.with the test ram on the display press enter button when ram test has passed turn off machine for 20 seconds then reboot
@@jacktheripper6716 i had a look online last night but couldn't find one, someone maybe has one chucked in the corner somewhere but the manual usually stays with the machine in the uk so when the machine gets scrapped it goes with it. besides the manual has the basic workings of the machine and test routines etc, it doesn't really go into much detail components wise. many a time ive consulted the manual on site and thought it was as useful as a chocolate tea cup lol.
since the holding Up+Down while turning it on apparently does nothing (since it's already booting into test mode), any chance you can choose to only Test RAM, get a result, then reboot it?
Also this machine my not have the software this is done via the USB port what you will have to do is get the bootylicuos software from either Eservices, or maggimaggi or even barcrest but I think the may have folded they may not sell you the software but if your mpu is working send it to them and they'll install it with the correct game and FYI a private home machine never comes with a note validator so if you get the software done it will alarm because it's not looking for a note validator so you will need to disconnect this hope this helps I'll be interested to see your progress any more help just ask 👍
I have Money Maschine.similar then your. You can See IT in a Video in my Channel. Some das, they dont Work. There a Batterie inside. But when is dead,a replacement doesnt Bring the machine Back. Intern,a Programm get lost. Here in Germany,i found a human the replace the Batterie and reparier the Programm. I think thats the Problem. The Programm is lost. I send them the circuit Board. Think max 50 Euro. All Work fine now
