Anyone else think, Idina's portrayal of the step mother is inspired from Mama Rose from Gypsy, especially when she sings... Idina's 'Some legends are born in the wrong time' like Rose's 'I was born too soon and started too late'

Loved your reaction so much. It was like rewatching the movie with a close friend and having fun with the running commentary throughout. I love this movie so much and don't really care what anyone else thinks. It's fun, uplifting, makes me laugh and sing, and I will be watching it many more times in the future. I find it funny that so many are triggered that you have a different opinion than they do about the movie. I think this one will have a cult classic following for years to come.

Yes! I loved this reaction, I actually really enjoyed this movie which surprised me because it was getting so many mixed reviews. I actually had a look at some of them and most of the poor reviews were people who had issues with the diversity in the cast, the message in the film and some were quite disgusting towards Billy Porter, but at the end of the day it's a fun, family film that knows its audience and is not obviously supposed to be ground breaking cinema lmao

Great reaction, thanks! I really enjoyed this movie! Pure fun with some brilliant performances by everyone in this cast. Camila blew me away for her debut role, I predict she has a bright future as an actress. The jokes were funny, the music rocked and the updated values in this film are exactly what this story needed. Baffled why some critics missed the point of this film, but knowing how conservative most of them are, I guess a woman making her own choices while still finding love is a difficult concept for some to accept. Highly recommend this movie!

Million to one

Many movie Critics are too heavy handed when reviewing this movie. It's a fun comedy family musical that doesn't take itself too seriously. I'm glad u liked the movie.

It's been bothering me so much how much hate this movie has been getting. Like damn, can't we just enjoy a fun, campy, and cheesy movie with a good message anymore? It's definitely a nice take on a story where Cinderella traditionally doesn't have much agency. It was a nice change. I had so much fun watching this movie and it's definitely not the worst jukebox musical. The performances were completely on point in this and I feel like this movie knew exactly what it was and just owned it. It's just a nice feel-good movie for a good time. People just need to sit-back, relax and have fun for a bit.

There are parts in the movie that are confusing and cringe. And some of the songs are bad and every 5 there's always a song but that doesn't mean that the move is bad. The movie is really interesting that it is not like the original story. But it's inspiring to see Ella (Camila) stand out for women to be able to have their own business and be their self.

This movie is terrible..... maybe on a middle school mentality... or less. But to each their own.

I wanted to take the time to share why people including myself don't like this movie. Keep in mind, I'm not trying to persuade anyone from liking the movie. If you like it, that's fine. I just wanted to share why a lot of us don't like it for the people asking "I don't get why this movie is so hated." These opinions might also be a lot of my own personal opinions. 1.Camila seemed out of place. Like I get it's her first acting role I think but I feel like she should've gone through more training to have a more theater voice instead of doing her pop voice. I mean I know Brandy also didn't really have a theater voice when she did Cinderella but I feel like her soft sweet voice made up for it. 2.Too many unnecessary renditions of the Millions to One song. 3.Cinderella wasn't all that likable to me like that scene with her on the statue was incredibly cringey with the way she was disrespecting the King's statue instead of getting down immediately. 4.The dialogue was awful. Like they were trying too hard to sound "woke" or funny and it didn't come across as natural. 5.The prince was annoying. 6.The way it claims to be the first girl boss Cinderella when there were many others like Danielle from Ever After, Ella Enchanted, A Tale of Cinderella (an underrated German theater movie), and even Cinderella 3 A Twist in Time. 7.The way the cast caused a traffic jam with them dancing on the street as a way to promote the movie. 8.The step family honestly were more likable in my opinion than Cinderella which that itself is bad cause they're supposed to be awful people or at least the step mother should be. 9.It very clearly was attempting to copy Ella Enchanted with the cover songs even doing Somebody To Love which Anne Hathaway did in Ella Enchanted, bringing Minnie Driver into it and the mix of the modern and Victorian theme. 10.A lot of us don't like James Corden and I personally didn't like how he kept trying to be the center of attention during his human form especially that horrifying human to mouse transformation. All in all, I think a lot of us who don't like the movie are those of us who aren't the targeted audience like those of us who grew up with Rodgers and Hammerstein's Cinderella or Ever After or Ella Enchanted. The only things I really liked about the movie are the ball gowns (except Cinderella's ugly gown) and the twist at the end where instead of becoming a princess, Cinderella achieves her dress making dream (even though the woman who hired her is sketchy as hell with how she mentioned murdering her husband for the crown) Again, it's totally fine that there are people who like it like I know a lot of teens and children probably like it. I just wanted to take the time to share why a lot of us don't like it.
