The music video is good too, but the live is more impactful. Her new song out is pretty cool too. I think she would have been a huge idol of mine back when I was a teenager lol. Appreciate your reactions, thanks. Where to start! His catalog is just amazing. I swear there's not a bad song. Chinchilla is awesome too. You should definitely check out Fingers (Live) by her, and her new song, Little Girl Gone plus her other song with Ren, How To Be Me (the live one). But Ren? Of course they're all different and different genres - you must do The Tale Of Jenny and Screech (Full version) if you haven't seen it yet, then try, Humble, Losing It, Money Game, Love Music pt 3, Power, Dominoes, What You Want, Crutch etc. - it's endlessly great! Then of course there's the busking band he's in "The Big Push" try I Shot The Sheriff/Road To Zion/Hip Hop, Bongo Bong, War Pigs, It's Alright - the list goes on. It's almost laughable how much talent this man has and how many great songs he's produced. Pretty much all by himself We are so lucky!

The lyrics are brilliant. Some are so simple yet so deep. “I’m scared of being okay cause all things change”. I love all of Ren’s play with metaphors and such but sometimes simple is perfect. And the clever metaphors makes something so simple stand out even more. It really hits home, doesn’t it? Ren is something very special. And on top of all his talents he is also a magnet for other talented artists. And he lets them shine. What a beautiful human being he is.

I love that you had this take. Chalk outlines are known as crime scene tools, outlining what's dead. So my interpretation was walking around feeling dead inside - your words of an empty shell is basically the same. From the reactions I've seen, you're the only one I can think of that felt it in a similar way as me. Cool to see.

I love that this one is so open to interpretation. It applies to mental disorder pharmaceuticals, addiction, masking in general. I think the idea of numbing ourselves to life and others to “fit” the person shaped outline everyone is expecting, but it also protects you from the pain of interacting with all these “normal” people that we want to act like. Yet, the saddest thing is that so many of those people that we think have it all are suffering the same issues and walking around in their own chalk outlines.

You don't seem to try too hard to breakdown every single line or bar - you focus on the emotion of the song, the feeling. Like that trace / erase ourselves with a chalk outline line. You know and recognise that it hits hard and focus on that. There are a dozen different analyses of the whole Chalk Outline reference - it doesn't matter which one is right - it's about the emotion of the song and the human connection which you absolutely got. This song gets me every time I hear it. Ren said that Chinchilla is his alter ego twin. They have another live song together How to Be Me.

You might want to check out a couple more of Ren and Chinchilla at some point: 'How to be Me' (the live version) and another of them busking: 'One Dance/Drunk in Love' (Drake/Beyoncé) they perform so incredibly well together. Also if you're willing to be deeply moved: 'Crutch' is worth a visit. Great reaction by the way.

Illest of our time. Losing It Genesis Money Game (part 1 and 2) Love Music Part 1, 2 and 3. Ocean ft Eden Nash. Penitence ft Molly McKinna Crutch ft Bibi Is an absolute work of pure artistry. It's an emotive and painful insight into Ren's psychosis. The chemistry is real - Bibi was his girlfriend at the time. I realise I've listed too many, but there are so many to choose from and they're all great 😆❤

How to be me live Ren and Chinchilla is a must mate... definitely the live version though. Its insane chemistry, it hits the feels.

Intelligent and totally charming reaction. And like Ren, you know whereof you speak, from your lived experience. I'm a therapist, but I've always tried to avoid presenting myself as "the healthy one" ... whatever that is ... otherwise, where is the empathy?

Both duets with Ren and Chinchilla are beautiful- still give me goosebumps - the chemistry they have together when they sing is amazing. Love their rendition of Sexual Healing whilst busking too. Ren has worked with some amazing artists - think most people have suggested you check them out (you definitely should). Ocean is my favourite with Eden Nash. Great reaction. So appreciated what you shared. It's a connection point for so many of us. I'd highly recommend "How to be me", and if you want something on the lighter side with the two of them, definitely check out one of their busking sessions - "Sexual Healing" or "One Dance/Drunk in Love". In Chris Liepe's interview with Chinchilla, she talked about her experience in busking with Ren, as something she was so anxious about at first (she had more experience with very large crowd performances, supporting Sting, etc.), and then totally fell in love with the whole thing. I love how Ren said that Chinchilla is like his female counterpart. It's so evident!

I wasn't really into this song when I first checked it out, but reading the lyrics really hit differently and I can connect. I'm scared of being okay cause all things change. I've felt like I peaked in high school, that mentally and personality wise i've never really developed from that state, at some points over the last decade I've wondered am I depressed, am i on the spectrum, do I have adhd, a bunch of these things... have a multitude of issues and trauma (nothing serious but I've allowed them to control me). I've often considered, why don't i see a therapist for this, why don't i find out for sure, why don't i fix these/cure these ailments, and I know, it's because I'm scared of being okay, I've been the chalk outline for so long I don't know what being that person is anymore. All things change and the chalk outline has worked for the last decade, at least i know it will probably work for another ten. But it's obviously not working, because I'm aware, I know, that i am not living, I am not happy and satisfied. But when that realisation comes too close to the surface, I stuff it down with one more smile, one more indulgence - food, pleasure, alcohol, hobbies and interests and material objects, and it's been happening so long that I don't remember who I was before existing in this state of unknown, all i have is that outline of who i've been, that i've relied on as a crutch for so long that it's all that I am.

Yeah ending up in a mental state where you can't even enjoy the 'good' times because you are constantly wondering when the other shoe is going to drop and how bad it is going to be is horrific! It literally 'steals' even the good times from you!

I dont mind stopping and I enjoy seeing people really feel the music the watch/listen. I just feel like you miss lot of the melodical emotion when you focus so much on lyrics and dont let the sequences to play through 😅 tho we all thrive from different aspects of the performance. Scared of being ok. I have chronic pain and always wished for a no pain day. Got one on 5/5/05. Vivid memory, but by the afternoon I was afraid of the pain returning which it did... And now I worry on occasion it will happen again because it was a traumatic day. Scared of being ok cause ago things change... I do wonderful art and am so very happy, it's an occasional undercurrent to think about.

Love this reaction, your personality resonates with me as does Rens and sister Chinchilla. You're the youngest reactor on my reactor subscriptions yet you prove age is irrelevant. Like Ren and as you share, yourself, I too battled with depression and suicidal thoughts, attempting at least 3 times, fortunately without success. Mostly I had reached this sad state on account of feeling outside of the stratus quo of society. At the age of 25 I took up the life of a Hare Krishna Monk, hence my name. Within that domain I learnt about the science of these mind, body soul, avatars we're residing within. As such over time I distanced myself from the thoughts that haunted me based on my status in this world. I grew my spirit back to a healthy state having shoveled the dross off my heart. In 1997 I pierced the Veil between the worlds and met a personality that truly resonated with me. Chaitanya Mahaprabhu was this Being. He instructed me personally to remove the doubt from my heart and turn humanity on to Him. During our visitaton the phrase, Closer than Hands and Feet, became very real to me. I was witnessing a version of myself though not me, He was so intrinsically a part of me and I felt so at Home within this connection. I share this for the sole purpose of placing the following words to you. Ren is a personality who has been Raised from the Matrix and given the gift of Inner vision, ie He is spiritually awake. He has all the symptoms, and we know so much about him as shared by his music and interviews, that it's glaringly obvious to me who He is ! Now to you young brother. You too have travailed a similar path musically, mentally emotionally, You to are giving me that vibe of being a gifted one, another brother given the eyes to see and the ears to hear. This is why brother Ren has struck such a chord since the release of Hi Ren. He's given us all permission to bring our inner Self closer to the Surface personality, he's given us all permission to bring the subconscious up to the foreground, the conscious state. He's shown us that we draw the Chalk Outlne around our creativity, our spontaneity, our joy our love. Time to lift the veil off completely.

Being chronically ill, you know youre going to be sick tomorrow aswell. Nothings going to change and its going to be another hard day watching life pass you by. But you have no choice, you just have to keep waking up knowin its not going to change.
