I have always appreciated how You and your brother share the problems and "close calls" with us Fans. It's not lost on your Fans the integrity of this Family and the Characters of you all individually! You could have kept the anti-biotics problem hidden and quiet but if nothing else, it was an eye opener for everyone that anymore we really do need to stay a bit more vigilant in even the smallest things we do. I LOVED how the cow behind you @ 10:50 was giving you licks and kisses while letting you know that everything was going to be fine! Thank You for thinking enough of your Fans to share this stressful time! Cheers and Blessings From COW-lumbus, Ohio MOO 👋
And people always jeopardize others jobs like " hey it is milking(or any other jobs) how difficult can be" Thank you showing us how difficult is feeding people.
The only people who never make mistakes are the ones who aren’t doing anything. Small things can turn into costly things quickly on a farm but you were on top of it and shut things down in time and followed correct protocols. 😊I made a mistake on a mornings milking 50 years ago and had to dump the tank but that was only 40 cows not 300. Glad for your rain and remember to stay safe.
Oh wow I'm glad you caught that tag!! Sure is one heck of a wake up call. Love your videos along with the horses & goats. You all needed some rain. Glad to see you got some. Take care.
YOU ARE A VERY HONEST PERSON. YOU POST THE GOOD, THE BAD AND THE OGLY. GOD BLESS YOU AND EVERY THING GOOD WOUL COME YOUR WAY. I AM A RETURED NURSE FROM PANAMÁ CITY DO NOT NOW NITHING ABOUT FORMING. KEARNING A LOT FROM YOU AND ENJOYING.
Don't beat yourself up too much. Mistakes happen. One learning moment suggestion: if it is hard to see the red tags on some cows, is there another way to mark them that stands out better? Some red paint or marker on the rear end or something that raises more flags for the milkers?
I do enjoy your videos very much. I’m so glad your milk situation worked out. Sorry that you had to get stressed out. Well hoping now for maybe 6 blue eyed baby goats fingers crossed.
So happy for you that you caught that in time, I can only imagine how your stomach was in knots until you learned things were ok. Glad you got a good rain.
Thanks for sharing. A very good video You are honest and you rightly thank God that everything worked out AND that you got a much needed rain. God is good. Keep up the good work, hard but rewarding.
Neline , thank you for being so honest , you & your family are special , team work , yes indeed , people helping people ", family members included , stay safe , get a little R & R !
Lady. Thank You for your walk along video. I'm glad you found the milk mistake before it cost you some big money. You are much more pleasant on the eyes than Jon. Generally, farm women are good workers with common sense. It is great to follow along while you are working with the goats. Please take Care of yourself.❤️🤗😎
You are a awesome person. there isn't words to tell you how proud your parents are that you can handle to big responsibility that is on your shoulders. Thanks for bringing us along.
You really find out what you are made of under emergency situations. It also helps you not to become lax on your job. I’m glad it all worked out ok. Your family has trained you well.
SO glad you dodged that bullet ! Nothing worse than something like that being YOUR fault ! Hope you slept well ! Congrats on the rain. Did that help any of the wild fires I hope ?
Glad that you got it in itime with milking. Waiting for the blue-eyed baby's. Also like everyone here, i like your video's to. And remember that mistake, you wont do that anymore. Everybody needs a wakeup call, this was yours. You know what can happen if you where to late. You managed it well, so go on you can do it. Greetings, Harry Rozenburg Netherlands.
Been there done that had the feeling in my gut to we all get complacent at times just smile at your dad an it will pass send rain to iowa special delivery hang in there superb family
Is it possible to mark the cows with tape farther up there legs with wider red tape!? That seem pretty important to leave to a little red piece of tape?
I believe it says a lot that you and the family give the honest truth about farming I appreciate it and believe most do. Was wondering is there any thought about keeping the cows that need milked with issues doing a separate run with just those girls as a unit so you don’t have to worry about an accident happening? I can only imagine the stress you felt when you found the mistake and having to call the dad and brother for help. I’m sure others have had it happen too but it’s worse when it’s your turn I bet. Also I have seen a tool for power washing that might speed up the process a bit it is got a round head/ circle maybe a foot in size that I see people use on driveways and it goes very fast because it covers more area. Just a thought. Susan
Great catch! I was not so lucky and we tested positive for antibiotics. We did not know our vet gave antibiotics during a routine herd check and he was working without any family assistance (our bad) and we did not know until getting the vet bill came in the mail the following week. Enjoy your videos and all the related hard work that comes with them.
Oh man. I had the exact same thing happen to me when l was younger with the same outcome as yours. Kind of a sick feeling that takes a long time to go away😬
You have the best solution to your mistake. Admit your mistake fix it and move on. See you already got blessed with a nice rain. Just leaving toon town. Your crops are nice here. Take care ❤🇨🇦.
Been there done that. Luckily for me it was after the first milking in the tank. So it wasn't a massive amount of milk to dump, but still painful to watch the white gold go down the drain.
Wow, Thank God you caught it, always wondered how steep that was, could have been pretty bad, the goats are looking good, thanks for sharing this Neline
Oh my goodness you are human. Everyone makes a mistake, but you caught your mistake in time to minimize the cost to the dairy. I’m sure you’ll put in a safe guard to keep it from happening to anyone else. You know like when your Dad limited the speed on the skid steer because somebody damaged a concrete wall by running into it at a high rate of speed. Lol had to throw that in just in case somebody gives you a hard time about what you did.
That is the danger with routine jobs - but I still think it is nothing compared to reversing wildly with no rear vision in a confined space with a heavy motorised vehicle which we have seen on Jan’s channel😂
RE:NOISEY. I was out in my front trimming some trees when I noticed a neighbors rooster crowing. He crowed & crowed & crowed & crowed. I think he might have given himself a little sore throat. I got to wondering who he was crowing to or for. I think they got the message. Finally, I figgered there must be some young roosters in his henhouse & he was making sure the little guys understand who the boss is. THEN, A great big ol crow landed on my fence & put up such a fuss. Not at me but somebody was disturbing it. Im guessin the crow has a nest nearby & it was crowing to chase it off. THEN, far away, I hear a calf bawling, It bawled & bawled & bawled. Finally, I realized, that wasnt a calf. It was a sheep or goat. MAN. What a noisy neighborhood. I moved out to the country for a little peace & quiet. !
You did amazing job . And am happy that we all can learn if we don’t learn things we become People who don’t care if we make mistakes and and doubt of recourse . We don’t learn .
With all the tech in farming now, why can't flashing lights be put on the stalls to communicate to the milker, flash color matching the band on the leg. It sounds like it is too expensive to just relying on bands, I bet many farmers wished they had two warning systems.
double secret probation for you! :) 0 tolerance for antibiotics I guess, is the only way to make sure across the industry in our country - but considering how much we're eating from other sources, how much it's prescribed, and how many people don't complete their courses properly, the protocol seems a little over the top.
What, may I ask, are you doing with all these goats long term- breeding to sell breeding stock, meat from the males, start a milking herd of your own? Thx
Problem with any job that follows a routine, is it makes people complacent and mistakes can happen. You have the added complication of making videos which can be distracting. Always good to learn from mistakes that you are able to rectify before any damage is done. Everyone, whether they admit it or not, have made mistakes. It's how you handle them is what's important.
Whats the vision plan for goats? Cheese, meat, millk. hobby I really don`t know what purpose they serve. I`m a city boy not trying to be a smart allic, Thanks probably a silly question. Love your channel .
Making mistakes that's how we learn! People who never make mistakes don't appreciate there education as much as much s people who have everything come easy to them! My husband who could have gone to M IT. Didn't go why ? He was afraid of making a mistake! He could have done anything he wanted but he was afraid! I'm glad your not like him! Learn and move on! I do it ever day most of us do! Except for my husband! Lol. Your awesome you'll be ok! Kathy in Ohio ! Speaking from experience! Actually getting on here and talking about it is big!
I milk cows and I think from what you're saying it's not really your fault as the leg bands must be clearly visible, clean any dirty bands when needed to avoid catastrophic disaster, I'm surprised you don't have an alert on the auto ID or don't you have auto ID ?
Do you guys eat the goats? I heard you say meat goats. I thought they were show goats and pet's. Must miss that part. I'm glad you caught the cow before you had pay all that money. Daddy might of spank your butt 😁
I don’t blame you the mistake you made someone could of put something bigger on cow 🐄 you can see it and I bet you world not have no problem if you had Malking robot machines and the robot, will have everything in your computer and your phone tell you the cow sick and the cow numbers what’s going on on the collar
