I had a first year 05 Tacoma. They installed a new frame when the engine mount broke. Found out it was cracked when the fan hit the shroud going over railroad tracks
I know you said don't suggest other motor mounts but NO professional off road, road race or rally team uses anything polyurethane in the suspension or mounts. The issue with poly is it tends to bend/crush and take a set...pretty much like what you just showed in the video at 10:20 mark.
Yeah if this was a dedicated off-road vehicle or race vehicle I would be running solid. But it’s a daily driven mid travel truck that sees day to day driving WAY more than off-road
Use a block of wood next time you jack the motor up. I've seen people bend their oil pans up into the oil pick up causing starvation and blowing up the motor
Honestly no clue at this point. Mainly wanted to make sure everything would line up and drive fine. Once I’m confident the mounts are all good and the engine is sitting sold I’ll probably go get grade 8
@@desertdime it's a must to go grade 8 or higher. Look up the values of different grade bolts and then you'll understand why so many like Morgan Clark don't skimp on hardware.
This!!!!! High grade hardware is a game changer. I’m also surprised the new hardware didn’t come with a lock washer on top. I mean it’s not a lot surface area to cover and it’s small as far as the area it goes in too, but it might help a little bit on top of the back nylock nut
Yeah definitely lock tight motor mount bolts even blue lock tight would work the engine naturally torque twists so the bolts that fell out are probably the side of the engine that twists upwards plus the vibration and free loading from prerunning it’s not shocking the blots fell out I rock crawl and I’ve seen many motor mounts rip and or loose bolts just due to the off road stress lock tight and some oval lock nuts are best nylock are fine but they are one use only
