Hi, so I took my exam. It was difficult. But now it is over. So I have time for art! I'm really excited for Evolve's development and getting more recognition and becoming more popular. And I'm excited to be making more progress in it. I guess it's just an exciting time for me right now and I'm trying to make the most of my little break lol.

off-topic but that dress is SO CUTE. Hooray for finishing the exam!! I can't believe you have to wait until January, that's so long. Omygod I would hate that. I wish there was a course like this for perspective haha. It looks so good to just go step by step and only worry about the one thing you're supposed to do and ignore the rest.

Thank you so much! I was deliberating over what to wear for the video and I realized I've literally not thought about my outfit since I filmed the last video haha. And SAME, I'm such an anxious overthinker type and the more choices are made for me, the better.

Hey Mithril! Real life can be so busy, I know what you mean (I need to get back into painting as well). And I also usually only see my mistakes after I take the picture, but I don't want to go back and fuss over the painting once I'm done with it.
@Mithrilda

Yeah! Or if I finish a painting at night with my crappy overhead light and take a picture and submit it, I'll come back the next morning and notice a tone of those little white flecks where you can see the canvas through the paint. I usually write it off and promise to try harder next time, but I felt compelled to fix it for this latest painting lol.

Welcome back, nice video. Glad to see you are progressing well. The last exercise looked tougher to me so maybe that's why you make 2 mistakes like that. I dunno, anyway you can learn from it and you'll do better next time!

Personally. Much of my anxieties and distressed in art comes from needing to seek validation from the external world. When my drawings don't come out good. I immediately link it to a failing career, inability to earn, barred from social recognition, and so forth. While definitely overblown, I think many of us has entertained the thought of "wait... should I really be doing this". Which only generates more anxieties and discontentment with the work. This leads me to study & practice fundamentals over doing personal works. And while the skills might get better *technically*. I start to lose the childlike joy and imagination of making art for myself. (Like a cyclope octopus wielding jedi sabers!) And the cycle of stress and jadedness in art continues its cycle anew. Drawing from a place of "none judgement" has been something I'm trying to practice. Staying present and giving my full attention to the present process without concerns of the past thoughts (oh I can't draw plox) or the future thoughts (how many likes will this get?) has been immensely healthy. Which required blocking off my usage with social media, engaging with other artists more instead of using each other as likes machine, journaling instead of keeping things in my head, and of course allowing myself to draw whatever guilty pleasures I want without judgment of good nor bad. (Takes a lot of practice to get those pesky negative thoughts at bay!) Seeing my art sessions as a way to discover myself and tackle my comfort zones has been a better has been really great. It doesn't happen always as negative thoughts are just sooooo built in into us humans. But that makes each session all the more important to stay present and focus. :P TLDR: Needing validation makes art making stinky & stressful. Enjoying the present journey makes the process more enjoyable.

I definitely relate a lot to what you're saying. We all have different struggles on our journeys and something that's easy for one person could be very difficult for the next. I've realized that through sharing my experiences that a lot of people can relate to what I'm saying and a lot just can't fathom having problems doing something or another. I think it's so interesting seeing what you're doing to combat this particular issue not only because it's something that I can keep in mind for the future, but also because it's validating to both myself and (I'm sure) others who struggle with the same thing and maybe give a view into this mindset that others might not have experienced for themselves. Thanks a lot for sharing!

Hi, Mithril-firstly, thank you so much. If not for you, I wouldn’t have become an evolver. Secondly, could you share with me Kevin’s suggestions on lighting ? My studio is in the basement. I have lighting issue to solve too. Thanks again for everything.

So glad to help! You should be able to find all the info about lighting here: help.evolveartist.com/articles/206596-what-lights-will-work-for-my-studio I ended up replacing my overhead lightbulbs with brighter daylight bulbs in my old apartment. Still haven't figured out a solution in my new apartment yet. Hope this helps!

How much is the Advanced course after the Foundation course? The site does not say. it should. I am thinking if Foundation course is $2000.00 I suppost the Advanced course will be $2000.00 more or more than that. they should say on website so people can make an informed choice.

I just remembered I have oil paints but no way to clean those brushes. Then I realized you've mentioned soap! I will grab some Ivory. But still need to buy oils to mix. Could you tell me how the cleanup and oil to paint goes? I know acrylics only lol. Maybe I can practice this way until I can do this program. Thanks either way.
